clue? this is a new winery you won’t recognize. however this rarely offered varietal is making some waves in Lodi. i think the last time we offered it was from Broken Earth a few years back.
@Winedavid49 Graciano? Tannat?
Unless we’re going white - Clairette blanche, maybe? (I know it’s too much to hope you got us Acquiesce as a happy new year gift.)
@InFrom@ScottW58@Winedavid49 Last year we bought the second fewest bottles than in any year since 2013. So we’re moving in the right direction for a change
@Winedavid49 Ardèche Chardonnay and Viognier from Louis Latour? Unless you secured some of their Volnay?
I’ll nitpick and say that they don’t actually sound the same…but close enough for a clue!
@msten@rjquillin@Winedavid49
Yeah, but the “with all due respect to Suzy…this winery” leads me to believe it’s not Noceto…
Perhaps I am reading into it too deeply.
@karenhynes@msten@rjquillin@Winedavid49 Also, I think that “A” in the clue has to be meaningful. I was trying to fit a winery that started in A, but d’Arie works.
@MarkDaSpark Wolverine territory. if we are are going to wade into that neck of the woods, you know it’s going to be this varietal. i bet Scott Harvey like’s this one.
@klezman@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49
I ended up in Kansas, with Girard as the “seat” of Crawford County. Home on the Range (…where the buffalo roam…) was written in and is the official state song of Kansas…the buffalo/american bison is the state animal. I got hoodwinked by history (and WD’s original second clue ;))!

Could be Wilson?
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 the end of that game was just ridiculous. Also why don’t both teams get a chance on offense? Makes no sense to me in the playoffs.
No idea on the clue, though.
@MarkDaSpark@rjquillin@Winedavid49 it’s similar, but if the first possession scores a touchdown that’s the end of the game. Seems totally unfair to not let the other team have a crack at it.
@klezman@MarkDaSpark@rjquillin@Winedavid49 My thought has been (for at least in the playoffs) a team wins in OT when they take possession of the ball while holding the lead.
@Mark_L@MarkDaSpark@rjquillin@Winedavid49 That makes a ton of sense. Nearly or completely equivalent to “leader after two possessions”. After the last 5 minutes of regulation how on earth do you not let Josh Allen get a chance to even it up?!
@klezman@MarkDaSpark@rjquillin@Winedavid49 Not really equivalent. For example, Team A gets the ball first and scores a field goal. Team B then gets the ball and scores a touchdown. In my scenario, Team B would not be the winner until they stop Team A from scoring (a touchdown) again (i.e., take possession while holding the lead). If Team A initially scored a TD, team B would need to answer with a TD in order to continue the game.
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49
“The mastermind behind this wine is no other than winemaker Osvaldo Amado, named on different occasions as the best winemaker in Portugal”…
Murray, Salvestrin, Muscardini, Ty Caton would be estate wines. Other early offers that are not estate would be Rasmussen and Roessler. Nostalgia for wild early days.
Well, Lulu’s hit song was “To Sir with Love”. Sidney Poitier’s name in the movie was Mark Thackeray. Sean Thackeray is a noted winemaker, BUT, I don’t remember any of his wines on WW. (Loweeel, aka PetiteSirah on the old boards, was a fan of his PS.)
St. Supéry was the first WW offer, and they haven’t been on Casemates.
I’ve been trying to remember if WD said who he worked with back then. All I can think of is that they might have been the first or early offers.
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49
Slingshot seems more suited for an extended quantity offer, not some limited Friday sale.
But AS and SG fit that description as well.
@Winedavid49 Friends, SB, and Chard seem to be about the only white offerings from Pedroncelli. Maybe a white only mix? I don’t think we’ve seen one here.
So, i don’t know if you’ve been reading Founder @snapster recent blog over on Meh.com. Fascinating stuff.
So, some news, Casemates is going to fall under this new department run by Snapster himself. Among the overall changes is the name InLo (aka inverse logistics). Come to find out every site that falls under this new division will have the parent name InLO in the title.
To play off that theme, Matt (fearless leader) has come up with the name “WineLo” as a new approach. So, once we have the programming bandwidth, we’ll be making a new skin and everything. WineLo lives! more to come!! @snapster
Clue? another western novel? oh wait, it’s a great deal on French wine!
@Winddavid49, you know, maybe you should drum up some business/awareness for casemates by selling some promotional wine deal on meh. Like maybe some rosé? Maybe that begins with P?
@MarkDaSpark this label has an old fashioned one of these on the label. the label name is a description of the action of the item. can drink good wine with out them.
@klezman@rjquillin@Winedavid49
My first thought was IH since their website literally asks, ‘how will you celebrate’, but @winedavid49 mentioned they have not been very forthcoming with their bubbly so deferred to Gruet. Was Gratitude the last bubbly offer we saw from IH? That was a nice offer.

@bahwm We can’t imagine not having some in the house. We still have our coupon for a tractor tour of the vineyard from a random case purchase at that other site; we hope to get out there soon-ish! @sndg said Sat, Jan 26th 2019 at 2:03pm ET
@davirom@InFrom@klezman
Would love to meet the kiddos! Unfortunately, no current plans to head West anytime soon. One of our friends is going to Sonoma and has bought his fair share of Iron Horse from both WW and CM.
@InFrom@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 A few wineries use the name The Godfather, and there is also Vino Godfather. WRT Stella, hopefully WD isn’t trying to compete with Walmart!
Aargh … been having issues loading Casemate pages. I refreshed, and it didn’t appear any guess yet. But it must not have refreshed correctly, since the only post I saw was WD’s.
OU Sam brought up Sam Noble Museum. Note: Not one word of who “Sam Noble” was on their site. Anywhere. Even about us fails to mention him (Oilman, grad of OU. Foundation donated money for new museum. Info found elsewhere!).
@MarkDaSpark pardon the delay. snuck out and played golf (rare) and my buddy wanted to play an “emergency 3” holes after 18. betting had nothing to do with it… .
clue? this import is from a “historic house in Veneto”.
@MarkDaSpark TGIF ! another part of the world tonight. Reminds me of the guy in the red and white striped shirt but with one slot different in the alphabet. Where’s?
@Winedavid49 Dang, WD, I’m just in the middle of watching the match. I managed to avoid notifications all day, only to be undone on my favorite wine site!
But yes, he sure looked impressive in the first set.
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 Oy, I remember once I accidentally came up to Sonoma that weekend. I got stuck on Highway 37 going across the top of the Bay. For like 45 minutes. I’d never been so happy to make it to the Viansa tasting room!
@MarkDaSpark I think you read too much into “winemaker and friend” – that’s not two people, it’s just the little old winemaker, Larry. Friend of the site, friend of WD. (Thank you for being a friend.)
@karenhynes@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 Is Virage for sale?
I seriously doubt Corison is…or Iron Horse…or J Dusi…
Not sure what other female-owned wineries we see often…
@Winedavid49 “Curated” from where? Or should I say whom? Let’s see, MacLeod vineyard…
THE PRESS DEMOCRAT
November 13, 2020
MacLeod Family Vineyard has sold its 30 acres of vineyards in the Sonoma Valley to an undisclosed local buyer.
Owner John MacLeod said the deal closed Nov. 2 and the new property owner has local ties.
The family’s Indian Springs Ranch vineyard produces zinfandel, sauvignon blanc and merlot from its Valley of the Moon location. The property has been in the McLeod family for more than 40 years.
The business, founded by George McLeod who died in 2018, will retain its McLeod Family Vineyards wine brand for its club members.
@davirom@MarkDaSpark yea, was i the only one that felt melancholy about that news? The daughter died suddenly after a fall some years back. a real loss. sad to see it scooped up, IMO
Our tiny (1,800 cases) winery is named after Comanche, my horse when I was ten years old. He was an important part of a young life, and I use his name as a loving tribute to this old friend.
Note: Tonto was “either Comanche or Potawatomi”, but mostly identified as the latter.
As for Kemosabe? Depends, since the only potential native american sources aren’t Comanche. Whether “Faithful Friend”, “Trusty Scout”, “Idiot”, or a summer camp name in Michigan, there’s no real definite answer.
But my favorite?
On a 1969 episode of The Johnny Carson Show, Carson did a sketch in which he interviewed Jay Silverheels—who portrayed Tonto on the Lone Ranger TV series—in character, for a new job at NBC. “I work 30 years as faithful sidekick for kemosabe,” Silverheels tells Carson in the bit. “Hunt, fish, make food, sew clothes, sweep up, stay awake all night, listen for enemies for kemosabe. Risk life for kemosabe. Thirty lousy years.” When Carson wonders why Tonto’s former employer let him go, the once-faithful sidekick replies, “Him find out what kemosabe mean.”
@MarkDaSpark@TimothyB@Winedavid49
The Rats, I think, pretty much got selected from among those commenting on mead in the Want List thread.
Drop in more…
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49
Aha!
Gaston LeGume is a fictional character and the main antagonist of Walt Disney Pictures’ 30th animated feature film Beauty and the Beast (1991).
@Winedavid49 What the hell is their second most famous song??
Ewald Zweytick November Rain Morillon?
Musical Wines Sweet Child O’Wine Bordeaux?
Barton Family Paradise City Syrah?
Domaine de la Patience?
Obviously Barton Family seems like the winner out of those…
I was thinking Italian too. Even searched on Sachet (forgetting to expand on Sacco), but got fed up with my (2 tablets & phone) issue with this page. Takes forever to load! Have to keep hitting the “wait” button.
Tried asking for a clue (when out and about), but it kept taking foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 I just checked and neither molarchae nor I have a CM or WW-purchased dessert wine from that part of California. I suppose it’s possible we skipped such an offer, but yeah…no help on my CT.
@Winedavid49
I wish you were talking about Shadow Canyon. That late harvest Pinot Blanc was amazing, but from Bien Nacido.
Is Angel Eis from there? But then again it’s not been a long time since we’ve seen Scott here.
Other dessert wines we’ve bought in the past were usually Michigan or Finger Lakes. (Speaking of which, get Hunt Country back but without the sherry crap!)
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 “Coro Mendocino” was an attempt by a group of Mendocino winemakers to brand something for the region akin to how Meritage obtained a large branding cachet. A bunch of wineries make/made it - I had some from Eaglepoint Ranch Winery when they ceased operating as a winery and learned about it back then. I think Peterson makes one and there’s a longer story and list here: https://www.coromendocino.com/
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 since botanists defined the being of “berry”. Grapes, tomatoes, gooseberries are berries. The other things we call berries are not.
@klezman@Winedavid49 Yeah, I hesitated to look at the clue while I was watching the recording. Can’t say I’m PO’ed at WD though. I should have known better this time. Fool me twice…
@klezman@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 In WD’s defense, the clue could be construed to say “…ain’t [a] no animal spectacle”, where the double negative would suggest animals are included.
@karenhynes@Winedavid49 Yeah, Iron Horse would be the low hanging fruit for that clue. They dumped a ton of stuff on WTSO a while back. But maybe it’s time for a nicely priced bubbly offer now that they released a couple new vintages?
In all honesty, their SRP has inflated well past the point of it being a good value. So many good grower Champagnes in the $45-60 range.
Sorry, just got back from watching the blue angels! Epic!
This was my friend Drew’s favorite wine back in the day. And just because Rick has a son named Drew (and john)doesn’t mean he’s connected to this wine, mate!
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 Well, I got the Hill part and the Australia part. But come to think of it, Montgomery is John Michael, not Paul Michael, oh well.
“told the children that when the Sycamore Inn was a stage stop, the stage arrived expecting a meal. The cook was sick that day and the purveyor asked the travelers if there was a ‘cook among ya.’ And that is how the city got its name,” Frausto relates. “I considered that a terrible thing to tell our little kids.”
@InFrom@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 A “clean out the warehouse” mystery pack?
Speaking of which…@WineDavid49 you can probably send me that RPM Tour stuff since the weather is suitable.
@Winedavid49 nice clue. One of the two, both have been seen previously. I would guess a Scott Harvey Zin/Barbera offer as we’re about 11 months out from last offer.
@radiolysis I think I got that one, but the one I was thinking of was the TLC Aussie blend. I believe it was made by the people from Calcareous. I re-upped on it a couple of times, it was great for the price, if a bit fruity, and my work friends really liked it.
@davirom@karenhynes@MarkDaSpark@rjquillin@Winedavid49 I was tempted to pull the trigger (with coupon) on today’s offer, but the likelihood of what is coming (as well as my increasingly overstocked storage capacity) made me resist.
@danandlisa@klezman@MarkDaSpark of course! thank you. i’m still peaved my nephew decided to get married smack dab in the middle of Q4 madness! (he and his lovely bride don’t know this). so cal was definitely a quick strike.
@davirom@rjquillin There are a number of matches to Montepulciano d’Abruzzo sites with Suckling’s quote. Some others are Tenuta Ulisse ‘Amaranta’ Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Bollina Sampei Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
Probably that, but one can hope it is Concannon Assemblage White or Red
Edit: Thought at first I remembered an Assemblage wine from a Lodi winery, but it was Acquiesce (which would be great to get here!) Winery. It was from my Concannon WC that I remembered it.
@davirom@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 “Nobody scoring is boring” is such an American thing to say. Close calls, great plays, lots of back and forth - that’s exciting, imo, regardless of whether anybody scores. The first 75 minutes of that game, though, were some of the worst minutes of soccer I’ve watched this world cup.
And yes - the NHL has it right. As much as I hate the 3-on-3 overtime rules in the regular season, at least we play real hockey when it matters most.
@davirom@klezman@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49
Lol! “It’s an American thing” you need to get out more, I know plenty of non Americans that say the same thing and half of them are Canadian. I happen to love soccer and if you think the first 75 minutes was bad soccer I have to think you don’t really like the sport!
@davirom@MarkDaSpark@ScottW58@Winedavid49 well, it seemed like France didn’t show up, and to me an uncompetitive game is a bad game no matter the sport.
I know lots of people who think soccer is boring, but the ones who say it’s because there are no goals have been, in my experience, mostly American.
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 With the “weather” comment, I’m thinking that the “stormin” might be a better direction. Something like Maggy Hawk Pinot Noir Stormin’.
@klezman@Mark_L@Winedavid49
Last year it was bubbles on the 31st and WineSmith on 1/1.
Going back to '20, it was Bergevin on the 30th and WineSmith on 1/1
In '19 it was IH on the 25th, Some Valley of the Moon on the 30th, and King NxNW on 1/1
'18 brought Gruet on the 25th, Some TO *%#&@! on the 31st and Martellotto on the 2nd
I see bubbley and WS as the only common points, but I’ll still hope for IH to make an appearance since we haven’t seen Cathy in years…
@Winedavid49
Happy 2022. has a nice ring to it.
clue? this is a new winery you won’t recognize. however this rarely offered varietal is making some waves in Lodi. i think the last time we offered it was from Broken Earth a few years back.
@Winedavid49
Grenache Noir?
Vermentino?
Muscat?
@Winedavid49 Graciano? Tannat?
Unless we’re going white - Clairette blanche, maybe? (I know it’s too much to hope you got us Acquiesce as a happy new year gift.)
@klezman @Winedavid49
I’ll add Carignan to the mix.
@klezman @Winedavid49
Wait!? You’re not buying anymore so the gifts are for us not you
@klezman @ScottW58 @Winedavid49 You’re just waiting to find out how long till he breaks.
@InFrom @ScottW58 @Winedavid49 Yes…yes he is. As am I. It’s a challenge for WD
@InFrom @klezman @ScottW58 Challenge accepted!
@kawichris650 @Winedavid49
Thinking Vermentino … maybe from Uvaggio or Urban Legend?
I would say Peltier, but they had a PS Offer on the old site (unless Old-Timers is getting to WD!).
And Markus Wine Co. is familiar from our Lodi/Amador tour!
@InFrom @klezman @Winedavid49
Lol he’s been talking that drivel since the day I met him! It’s kinda funny everytime I hear it
@InFrom @ScottW58 @Winedavid49 Last year we bought the second fewest bottles than in any year since 2013. So we’re moving in the right direction for a change
@klezman @ScottW58 @Winedavid49 It sure isn’t easy when you hang around here.
@Winedavid49

@Cerridwyn @Winedavid49

@Winedavid49 Heavyweight?
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
wine aged in beer barrels…?
Farmstrong
@msten
Good guess. Seems to fit!
@Winedavid49 Everyone either knows the winery or is asleep. Can we please receive a clue?
@danandlisa here’s a try: Il Palagione
@danandlisa @Winedavid49 I see a place by that name in Tuscany… Can’t wait to see what we’re getting!
sorry, i suck at most Friday (old world) clues. and then i subconsciously avoid… stand by.
@Winedavid49
then don 't forget saturday
or the meade
OK @WineDavid49…it’s that time again!
“nay” and “nier” sound the same on this combo offer from our trusted French source.
@Winedavid49 Ardèche Chardonnay and Viognier from Louis Latour? Unless you secured some of their Volnay?
I’ll nitpick and say that they don’t actually sound the same…but close enough for a clue!
@klezman i believe the term “government work” was introduced recently!
Howdy folks.
Clue?
with all due respect to Suzy and of course the zing of this region, zinfandel. i give this winery an “A” for yours truly favorite Amador varietal.
Noceto, DeArie and Scott Harvey are the Amador usual suspects.
DiArie Barbera
@msten @karenhynes @winedavid49
Been quite a while since we’ve seen DiArie.
Would welcome them back.
But, Suzy; that just screams Noceto.
@msten @rjquillin @Winedavid49
Yeah, but the “with all due respect to Suzy…this winery” leads me to believe it’s not Noceto…
Perhaps I am reading into it too deeply.
@karenhynes @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid49 I really, really hope so. It has been way too long.
@karenhynes @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid49 Also, I think that “A” in the clue has to be meaningful. I was trying to fit a winery that started in A, but d’Arie works.
@InFrom @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid49
I was going to say d’Arie kinda starts with an “A”…kinda.
@InFrom @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid49
But I guess Andis really starts with an “A”.
@danandlisa @karenhynes @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid49
Agree but sadly no
@danandlisa @karenhynes @msten @rjquillin @ScottW58 @Winedavid49
FYI,
Scott, Noceto, D’Arie, & Andis are the ones getting Zin from the OGP Vineyard.
@danandlisa @karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @msten @rjquillin @ScottW58 @Winedavid49 I don’t know if Di Arie still does - but Macchia does, if you recall from the 2018 Tour.
@danandlisa @karenhynes @klezman @MarkDaSpark @msten @rjquillin @ScottW58
good evening. clue?
same amount as Phoenix hoops starting line up.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
happy Friday!
another tough Friday offer clue…
Hans Jörg Böhm
@Winedavid49
Are we going to Portugal?
Quinta da Plansel?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 Good job. Here’s hoping for an unfamiliar varietal.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Wolverine territory. if we are are going to wade into that neck of the woods, you know it’s going to be this varietal. i bet Scott Harvey like’s this one.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
St. Julian Riesling
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
Is @WineDavid49 too engrossed in the Chiefs-Steelers game for a clue?
how 'bout them Niners! (sorry Texas).
this classic zin is carving out a beginning path.
@Winedavid49 Highway 12 Trailblazer Zin?
Feels like Monday, but it’s actually time for a clue!
@WineDavid49
@klezman i know right? company with same name near us: 21819
@klezman @Winedavid49 finally an offer from wine country gift baskets!
@CorTot @Winedavid49 Another Peterson offering, eh?
@CorTot @klezman @Winedavid49 well done. Peterson mechanical, purveyor of fine wines.
@CorTot @msten @Winedavid49 Funny thing is, my first thought was exactly what Cory thought.
@CorTot @klezman @msten @Winedavid49
I almost pulled a Peterson Barbera this evening, but ended up with a Pavi Dolcetto.
clue?
town of the same name is the county seat. if you can’t get it, i’ll give the state next…
@Winedavid49
Baker Lane?
Monticello?
Buena Vista?
There are way too many counties in this country…
@Winedavid49
Amavi?
Bergevin Lane?
Gård?
Walla Walla Vintners?
second clue: Buffaloes
@Winedavid49 Boulder works for the clues, but no idea on the wine or winery!
@Winedavid49
Scott Harvey / Jana?
@Winedavid49
Girard?
@Winedavid49
Meeker? Healdsburg?
Santa Rosa is county seat … buffaloes?
At least Amador High School has “Thundering Herd” with a Buffalo image!
@Winedavid49
BTW,
I see what you tried, but “town of the same name is the county seat” made it sound like town name equaled county name.
@Winedavid49 coming up with a solid clue is difficult. “We take nothing seriously but the wine itself.”
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I read the clue as intended and even scanned the Colorado county seats, but I missed Meeker!
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
I ended up in Kansas, with Girard as the “seat” of Crawford County. Home on the Range (…where the buffalo roam…) was written in and is the official state song of Kansas…the buffalo/american bison is the state animal. I got hoodwinked by history (and WD’s original second clue ;))!
Tonight’s an aged Zin offer that we just kept coming back to when tasting. i, W_ think you will like this exponentially.
@Winedavid49 Wellington?
Naw, not a chance.
@rjquillin
/giphy dream on
@Winedavid49 Harvest Moon keeps aged Zin around and they also age exceptionally well, but I don’t think that fits the clue. Sounds like 6-Sigma or something like that given the underlying exponential nature of the math. But I can’t see how that fits.
Could be Wilson?
@klezman @Winedavid49 “fits the clue “ hahaha
@msten @Winedavid49 yup, still not getting the clue
@klezman
“Exponentially” ties into D Cubed. But that still wasn’t much to go off of.
@kawichris650 more the W_ was the part that makes no sense
@kawichris650 @klezman
Thought that was just a typo … “i, WD”
@kawichris650 @MarkDaSpark I wondered that too, but it’s so far away from the D! Maybe it was supposed to be a backspace?
@kawichris650 @klezman @MarkDaSpark
Factorial?
@kawichris650 @klezman @MarkDaSpark
I think it was meant to be more of a fill in the blank, W"D"??
@karenhynes
Ahhh… I think you’re right!
@karenhynes @kawichris650 As usual, Karen figures it out!
@kawichris650 @klezman
Haha! Hindsight…
@Winedavid49 Clever
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark i keep waiting for this Bills Chief’s game to end! definitely FORWARD progress!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 the end of that game was just ridiculous. Also why don’t both teams get a chance on offense? Makes no sense to me in the playoffs.
No idea on the clue, though.
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Given only a FG score, they do, just like in the regular season iirc.
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 it’s similar, but if the first possession scores a touchdown that’s the end of the game. Seems totally unfair to not let the other team have a crack at it.
@klezman @rjquillin @Winedavid49
“Forward Religious Militia types”
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 My thought has been (for at least in the playoffs) a team wins in OT when they take possession of the ball while holding the lead.
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 That makes a ton of sense. Nearly or completely equivalent to “leader after two possessions”. After the last 5 minutes of regulation how on earth do you not let Josh Allen get a chance to even it up?!
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 Not really equivalent.
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 Ah, I see the difference. Basically you always get a chance to take the lead. I’m down with that too.
clue?
“the Mountain”
@Winedavid49
McGregor Vineyards from the Finger Lakes?
J Gregory Wines?
@klezman @Winedavid49
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka?
@klezman @Winedavid49 Or Mount Harvey?
@Winedavid49
A Cab from Mt. Veeder perhaps, such as Kukeri? Godspeed?
@Winedavid49
Mountain Selection Zin & Barbera from Scott Harvey?
@Winedavid49
Why do I think of Kunde? The top of mountain tasting ?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 wow. More literal than usual!
Ah, family name!
good evening. For starters this wine was made by Osvaldo.
@Winedavid49
???
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
“The mastermind behind this wine is no other than winemaker Osvaldo Amado, named on different occasions as the best winemaker in Portugal”…
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Missed that in the writeup!
Edit: because it’s not in the Casemates writeup?
Saw his name, but not in states. Said " presently in Brazil."
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Nevermind. Was thinking this was clue for Friday’s offer. Doh!
No interest in a clue? Strange!
@jmdavidson1 People have been distracted as of late!
@hscottk @jmdavidson1
And perhaps a bit tapped out?
@hscottk @jmdavidson1 @rjquillin apologies. i blame it on the shots in between shots on a spur of the moment Friday golf game. still a bit blurry…
You should blame someone else for this mess.
ok, back in the game.
and all this time i was thinking this was a bloody exploration of artificial intelligence.
@Winedavid49 My computer science background immediately brings Turin to mind.
@Winedavid49
2nd Clue please!
2nd clue?

Needed the 2nd Clue. Never would have gotten there without it.
@MarkDaSpark
Congrats Sparky!
@kawichris650 @MarkDaSpark
I miss the original Raised By Wolves
@Winedavid49
This winery has become a solid contributor. the founder’s ignorance was…
@Winedavid49
Brutocao?
@Winedavid49
Gård(ed)?
King?
@Winedavid49
Ooh, ooh!
Escandalosa! J Dusi ! Please please!
@karenhynes ignorance is Bliss, nicely done!
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Great call!
@Winedavid49
Next winery?
Ok, first year woot for sure. Early adopter.
i remember having one of my early, this is gonna be a cool job, aha moments when i tasted this guy’s wines at a lunch at EDK.
Great estate wines. undeniable.
Cool to see his original first offer, repeated here on Casemates.
@Winedavid49
Davis Family?
Ty Caton also seems like a good bet. Maybe a TyTanium offer? Hahaha
@Winedavid49 I thought it was so preposterous, but it was right!
@klezman @Winedavid49
Wow. Never thought we’d see it again. Nice job on the guess and the wine score!
@klezman @Winedavid49 bullseye!
Hmm. Andy Murray?
Murray, Salvestrin, Muscardini, Ty Caton would be estate wines. Other early offers that are not estate would be Rasmussen and Roessler. Nostalgia for wild early days.
Monticello Presidential Red, hows that for pulling one from the archives. I only recall one or maybe two offers.
How about Brian Benson? I think JanKris is estate. These go way back to early WW days.
I got some Kunde early on ww. . .
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark
@karenhynes. Seeing a theme?
Evidently, WD has been busy sending out emails for the TyTanium offer …
@MarkDaSpark
Must be glued to the Olympics!
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark
Kid’s soccer game actually.
Tonight is the first white wine from this label.
It doesn’t fit the category this wine’s name depicts, but it’s pretty darn good white wine deal. IMO
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
My initial thought is “Red Car”…but we’ve seen whites from them in the past. Too late in the game to do any real digging.
@Winedavid49 Pro Bowl excuse?
@MarkDaSpark haha. no. tonight’s wine? a favorite source. turns out a Seattle farmers market has the same name.
@Winedavid49
As @msten put it, probably Ballard Lane … but … WD sometimes has a twist. Queen Anne Famer’s Market could mean (drum roll) …
Anne Amie Vineyards!
Ballard Lane
@msten
Nice call.
Excited to have this winery back. i’ve worked with them since my Airborne Express days… this deal is gonna be a Lulu!
@Winedavid49
It can’t be Bedrock, can it?
@chefjess @Winedavid49 That’s totally the first that comes to mind. And I doubt it’s Tempier!
@Winedavid49
So St. Supéry or ???
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 The hard part is that Airborne Express was waaaay before wine.woot
@klezman @Winedavid49
True, but “worked with them since”. So chances are they were on WW.
Probably Bedrock, as @chefjess said, with their “Ode to Lulu” Rosė of Mourvedre.
How about Lucas and Lewellen? That’s a lulu for sure.
@msten Oh, that’s a solid guess. The Mandolina Toccata Riserva from ages ago was phenomenal.
@klezman
Do you really still have some of the '04?
@rjquillin I wish. Very long gone.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark becoming a goto daily drinker. it’s ain’t cinsault, but it’s tasty for the price.
We’ve seen Onesta Mentida before. BTW, what did we miss with the lulu clue?
@msten Lulu Handley.
@msten Yup, certainly sounds like Mentida
@InFrom Ahh, thanks
@Winedavid49
We’ll my contact there is not Jan, Jan,Jan…
@Winedavid49
Kunde?
@Winedavid49 … it’s Halftime! Where’s the clue? ️️️

@Winedavid49

@MarkDaSpark congrats Rams fans. i know many. Rams played well.

Another effort from trusted source. reminds me of Gwyneth’s foray into country music…
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Farmstrong?
@karenhynes
Well done! (As usual.)

@Winedavid49 Ruca Malen?
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark
Hey, don’t shoot me!
@Winedavid49
We haven’t seen slingshot for a long time.
Observation, not guess.
Messenger?
@rjquillin @Winedavid49
Why not as a guess?
I’ll use it as a guess then!
Or Archery Summit or Smoking Gun.
Edit (7:30pm PT):
Or St. Huberts The Stag Cabernet Sauvignon (being literal).
@a5meiser Definitely fits the clue, and Art+Farm show up here. The question then becomes, which of The Messenger wines?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Slingshot seems more suited for an extended quantity offer, not some limited Friday sale.
But AS and SG fit that description as well.
Obvious or obscure; good question.
@rjquillin Meanwhile, note that the WD star of approval has already gone to @a5meiser.
@a5meiser @InFrom
F5
@rjquillin What a refreshing comment!
@InFrom
Happy Friday!
last we spoke he was near Borrego Springs, “contributing to the delinquency of miners”
always a hoot, oh and consistently stunning and distinctive wines.
@Winedavid49
Swilly, aka Stillman Brown
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark aka knoll fence. sorry, that’s all i got!

Ah, Hillgate …
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Maybe a child’s extracurricular activity?
@danandlisa @Winedavid49
Probably, I think daughter’s soccer game, last of the season.
@danandlisa @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
or the 2018 scared him off…
Ah crap. I thought I had given it! Doh!
Just sitting at home minding my own business…
My bad.
@Winedavid49 … isn’t giving clues part of your business?
@MarkDaSpark why yes. i believe this Italian wine has the same name as some notable Italian markets across the country.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
You got some Eataly wine?
More likely Barbiero, I guess?
@klezman Good one.
@Winedavid49
clue? ok, how about Rosa Water …
@Winedavid49 I don’t even know where to start. There’s a brand of water from Serbia. Some lakes are pink.
@klezman or reverse it!
@Winedavid49 Are we going to Bulgaria instead of Serbia?
Pink Agua Rosé?
Is that stuff any good?
@Winedavid49
Something from the Clare Valley in Australia??
An unusual whit only offer from one of our all timers. Shout out to Ed who’s recovering…
@Winedavid49
Pedroncelli?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 Please wish him salute! from all of us. (It’s Italian for qpr!)
@Winedavid49 Friends, SB, and Chard seem to be about the only white offerings from Pedroncelli. Maybe a white only mix? I don’t think we’ve seen one here.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark normally i take the night off with this coveted partner.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Sounds suspiciously like Clark.
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Or Scott Harvey! Except I think Scott & Jana are off on a Wine Club members cruise.
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 But Clark is the one who (almost) always spills the beans early!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Get on the road and stock up on this recent white favorite. back by popular demand.
@Winedavid49
Ballard Lane?
Onward?
Highway 12?
@Winedavid49

Highway 12 for sure
@Winedavid49

Murillo de Río Leza.
@Winedavid49

I was into 70s Tennis then. And I still haven’t an idea of whom you are referring!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark you forgot “oblivious “ wine clue
@bunnymasseuse @MarkDaSpark ok, i deserve that after the last clue. tonight? it’s a wallbanger (not vodka).
@bunnymasseuse
That’s when he forgets to post a clue!
@bunnymasseuse @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Scott Harvey?
@bunnymasseuse @chefjess @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Yup, I also came here to guess Scott Harvey.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? @dianefreda @ctmariner
@ctmariner @dianefreda @Winedavid49
So an obvious clue this time!
Another D Cubed Cellars Zinfandel set?

@Winedavid49

@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 We have seen Especial in the past.
@Winedavid49 … Triple play time!
@MarkDaSpark
Haggle.
@Winedavid49
Hmm. A haggler is also called a contender.
Reynvaan Family Vineyards ‘The Contender’ Syrah?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 WD always talks about how good a haggler Suzie at Noceto is…perhaps it’s time?
@Winedavid49
I keep thinking a négociant is like a negociator
de Négoce Red offer?
@klezman @Winedavid49
Oooooohhhhh. Good thinking!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Good call
@klezman @MarkDaSpark with that logic, Joy from Iron Horse would have been a good guess… tough cookie.
@klezman @Winedavid49. Very true on Iron Horse.
So, Hat Trick (or Triple Play) completed.
Grand Slam next hopefully!
Clue?
… industrials
@Winedavid49
Dow Port!?
@Winedavid49

@MarkDaSpark

@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin metal bender?
@Winedavid49
So, super obscure to prevent the Grand Slam, eh?
@MarkDaSpark i thought it was a pretty good clue.
@Winedavid49 nice clue
@msten @Winedavid49 Ron got it right off the bat, phonetically at least.
@InFrom @msten @Winedavid49

@InFrom @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid49 well finally I get it!
@InFrom @klezman @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid49

Denier-Handel
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
That’s my guess, too.
@Winedavid49 The rest of my bracket may go up in smoke, but at least I can brag I picked this one right!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 D-H makes the most sense, but could also be David Noyes.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49. 2 hour warning
Luca Maroni gave this 94 Points. i may give a second clue later. but it is March Madness.
@Winedavid49
Grande Cuvée “Kermesse” 2015?
@Winedavid49
2018 or 2019 Dugal Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot?
@Winedavid49
Amarone Vivaldi Premium?
2019 Achille IGT Toscana Rosso?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Only 94 points? Probably a pass.
@Winedavid49 We might need that 2nd clue!
I even went to the One Vine website, but all the Italian wines currently there were all 98 points by Luca Maroni.
@Mark_L
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 Brava
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Ha Luca rating under 98 points? Say it ain’t so.
@Winedavid49
sorry. planes trains and automobobiles today…
clue? Ben Foster and woodie.
@Winedavid49

That’s what I asked yesterday! But not saying tonight’s one, just a future one.
So maybe tonight’s clue like you said!
tonight clue?
Patty Duke turn.
@Winedavid49 Keller Estates?
@Winedavid49 Unless there’s an Identical Cousins winery.
This fan favorite owner is definitely NOT a stooge.
@Winedavid49
Tercero?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 and since he just announced a flash sale on his pink wine maybe it’s something else…
always great to have Larry from Tercero on the boards.
Tonight’s clue? Where’s the rush?
@Winedavid49 I certainly hope it’s NOT Sutter('s Mill) Home!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark this vocation/profession is as old as domesticated fire. and yet when i use a thesaurus the best it comes up with is “skinner”.

@a5meiser @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 You’re both wrong! It’s Gård!
@a5meiser @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
Hopefully, we won’t get April Fooled!
@MarkDaSpark @snapster
@snapster
Clue? another western novel? oh wait, it’s a great deal on French wine!
@MarkDaSpark @snapster @Winedavid49
That thread has quite some history embedded.
Been great reading…
@snapster @Winedavid49
Louis Latour offer (Louis Lamour)
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin clearly a poor attempt at April Fools!
@rjquillin @Winedavid49
It did stump me for a while!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? Edna is right in the middle of trying.
Pulchella Awakening ?
@Winedavid49
Ooh, ooh EFFORT Edna Valley
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 If you said Center of Effort you would probably nail it.
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Effort is from Center of Effort winery.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I guess I’m a perfectionist (blame it on my engineering mindset).
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Perfectionist wins!
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark if you were into numbers, this would be Jim Brown’s farm.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Ranch 32?
@MarkDaSpark That looks like Arnold Palmer in the background of the giphy.
@davirom @MarkDaSpark Ted Knight?
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
…or maybe 32 Winds?
@davirom
Only if he was there in Caddyshack!
@karenhynes @Mark_L @Winedavid49
Or Cru 32 (Surh Cellars) if WD found more.
While JB wore #44 at Syracuse, I don’t think WD is getting Wisconson wineries (Parallel 44)!
So it’s probably Ranch 32, as the other Mark posted.
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Maybe I’ll hit Parallel 44/Door 44 this summer. Skipped it last year.
@jmdavidson1 @MarkDaSpark Behind Ted’s right shoulder
@davirom @jmdavidson1
Pretty sure it’s a lookalike.

@chefjess @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
thread hijack alert
When are we getting this?
I’m out!
@chefjess @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin couldn’t get the Olio this year…
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
You are one pricy ***fellow this evening
@Winedavid49
Something not as pricy?
@Winedavid49
@Winddavid49, you know, maybe you should drum up some business/awareness for casemates by selling some promotional wine deal on meh. Like maybe some rosé? Maybe that begins with P?
@wardad i know right? getting harder to pull that off about now. but stay tuned.
clue? known for single vineyard Rhone varieties.

@Winedavid49
Two Jakes of Diamonds?
Or Stillman Brown (pocket kings aka “Elvis Presley”) ?
Edit: Wordle = jakes or elvis
@MarkDaSpark oops… yes.
@Winedavid49
Oh, and congrats!
BTW, aren’t you a bit old to still be in HS?
/giphy oldest-graduate
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
I was pretty sure WD graduated around the same year I graduated…
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
I couldn’t resist … everyone knows WD is a proud papa of both offspring!
P.S.: Last one we need to put through college! Yay!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
WD has much to be proud of!
good evening. early clue since i’m heading to a company function.
one of my family’s favorite obscure brittish sitcom’s (and a current sci fi show).
@Winedavid49
So, an obvious clue then!
Raised by Wolves!
Cinsaut Cabernet Sauvignon or a new one
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I didn’t think they were still operating.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Oh ok…. Different wolves!
@hscottk @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I was secretly hoping there was a wine called “Are You Being Served?”
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Clue?
Counting Crow’s favorite color.
and a southern debutante’.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Any chance it’s Bluebell British bubbly?
Graybehl the Grenachista
@msten That makes a lot more sense than my guess…but it would be great to get some British bubbly!
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark That new TZ has you too eager.
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @pedroncelli
Sorry, escaped dog chase took me away (2.5m run).

@winedavid49
@jmdavidson1 Need to tag @WineDavid49!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark this label has an old fashioned one of these on the label. the label name is a description of the action of the item. can drink good wine with out them.

@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Not sure if he’s ever gone back-to-back before…
@Winedavid49

@Winedavid49 Ryder Estates?
@klezman good guess. but no.
@Winedavid49
Heather Creek Ranch?
@klezman @Winedavid49 @karenhynes
Judd’s Hill? I like Karen’s guess better
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 Didn’t think mine fit that well, but Karen seems straight on target as usual.
clue?
it’s that time again (to celebrate). stock up!
@Winedavid49
Gruet?
@chefjess @Winedavid49 Sounds more likely than Iron Horse…
@chefjess @klezman @Winedavid49
Would be much kinder to the plastic as well…
@klezman @rjquillin @Winedavid49
My first thought was IH since their website literally asks, ‘how will you celebrate’, but @winedavid49 mentioned they have not been very forthcoming with their bubbly so deferred to Gruet. Was Gratitude the last bubbly offer we saw from IH? That was a nice offer.
@chefjess @klezman @Winedavid49

Given the comment by @chipgreen over in the pub, I wonder if he was chosen to rat an IH?
@davirom My thought was that he and the missus are planning a trip out West.
@InFrom @chipgreen If so, they should also plan on coming to a Concert on the Green (see what I did there?)
@chipgreen @davirom @InFrom hell yes they should! You should really meet the little ones, chip!
@davirom @InFrom @klezman
Would love to meet the kiddos! Unfortunately, no current plans to head West anytime soon. One of our friends is going to Sonoma and has bought his fair share of Iron Horse from both WW and CM.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? Brando’s most popular outcry.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I coulda been a contender? More likely, “STELLA!”
@InFrom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 A few wineries use the name The Godfather, and there is also Vino Godfather. WRT Stella, hopefully WD isn’t trying to compete with Walmart!
@InFrom @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49

@karenhynes @Winedavid49 OK, I’ll admit it, I don’t get it.
@InFrom @Winedavid49 Ditto!
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 Right clue, wrong night?

@Winedavid49

@Winedavid49

@Winedavid49
Cougar Crest. Oh wait, a general Utopia … Columbia Crest?
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? Relic spot.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Sounds like Fossil Point.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
This recent go to winery soured this from a vineyard OU Sam would undoubtedly enjoy.
@Winedavid49
Using some convoluted “logic”, my first guess is Peterson.
@Winedavid49 Winter’s Hill? Who else is “certified sustainable”?
But I also like the Noble Riesling guess…
Neither are really go-to wineries, though.
@Winedavid49
Pacific Rim Noble wine
@Winedavid49
Aargh … been having issues loading Casemate pages. I refreshed, and it didn’t appear any guess yet. But it must not have refreshed correctly, since the only post I saw was WD’s.
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
'splain please
OU Sam brought up Sam Noble Museum. Note: Not one word of who “Sam Noble” was on their site. Anywhere. Even about us fails to mention him (Oilman, grad of OU. Foundation donated money for new museum. Info found elsewhere!).
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Sam Bradford, OU Quarterback, Heisman Trophy Winner, 2008.
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Nevermind. Excluding Noble popped Sam Bradford (OU QB and Heisman winner, NFL QB for Rams etc.) up.
Noble is the clue. We’ve had a Pacific Rim Noble Riesling.
This winery’s cab has a lunar influence.
@Winedavid59
Humm, valley of the moon, sonoma, Ty?
Happy Day to those Mother’s out there.
clue? Farm rental.
@Winedavid49 Sharecroppers?
@Winedavid49
Ah, crofter …
@Winedavid49 … overslept your alarm?
@MarkDaSpark clue??
Buffalo Hump
@Winedavid49
Bison Ridge?
@Winedavid49
Or somehow from Meeker? (Last time Buffaloes was mentioned, IIRC).
@Winedavid49
Ah, the obvious clue! Forgot to just search on Comanche!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark pardon the delay. snuck out and played golf (rare) and my buddy wanted to play an “emergency 3” holes after 18. betting had nothing to do with it… .
clue? this import is from a “historic house in Veneto”.
Ok, earlier tonight, not so late asking, like last night!
@Winedavid49
Happy Friday!
Clue? Oriental is one of them.
@Winedavid49 Something from Colli Orientali? (sp?)
@klezman @Winedavid49
Two Italians in a row?
@klezman @ScottW58 @Winedavid49
Or it’s an offer from wineries in Maule Valley, Chile.
Oriental is a winery there.
@MarkDaSpark @ScottW58 @Winedavid49 Wouldn’t be the first time we’ve had wines from the same place twice in a row.
Happy Sunday,
well i put up a tent here at one point, may do it again.
lo entiendes?
@Winedavid49
Washington Cab Trio? Huntsman, The Guide, & Canoe Ridge?
Still trying to equate Oriental with Rioja …
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Would really like to better understand this connection.
@rjquillin He put up a tent in his backyard? A su casa, as it were?
@InFrom @rjquillin Yes…yes he did on previous RPM Tours. Sneaky reference, since I’d have thought of it as him putting up a tent at Keller…
howdy, going to go see Neilfindswine at farmer’s market. he is visiting.
clue? i bet the rumored inter Miami future player would like this type of wine.
@Winedavid49
Sounds like Argentina to me. Maybe a Cab or Malbec…perhaps from Bodega Valentin Bianchi?
clue? The wine is coming from a region that reminds me of F-1.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49 Is this another running of Cantoro or another wine from Emilia-Romagna?
@klezman @Winedavid49
Or a Sparkling Wine Region (Winners drink from winner’s cup)?
Champagne or Catalonia (Cava)?
@klezman @Winedavid49
Or a Crémant de Limoux?
Perhaps another Aimery Crémant de Limoux Brut Sparkling?
Second clue? Norris
@Winedavid49
McLaren Vale?
@Winedavid49 Lando Wines RRV Pinot? Might have to break out the black tie.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark TGIF ! another part of the world tonight. Reminds me of the guy in the red and white striped shirt but with one slot different in the alphabet. Where’s?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Valdo sparkling?
@hscottk @Winedavid49
Probably … Valdo Ca’ Del Cino Prosecco
Doubt it will be the new brand Saldo (Red Blend, Zin, & a Chenin Blanc) from The Prisoner.
Golfer Nick Faldo has a winery association but it definitely would be in the black tie price range.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
Sorry, late afternoon soccer. Funny label tonight. “Aspire to do great things” OK, Mr Brown?
@Winedavid49
Stillman Brown with a Zeppelin Winery offer?
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark sorry, tennis went to a third set and the loser had to buy me a beer…
clue?
62% Domenico and 38% Acquarello Estate Vineyards
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Le Vigne Winery?
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Clue?
i say, i say this pairs well with Chicken Hawk!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Leghorn?
Or Foghorn.
@msten
Leghorn Sauvignon Blanc has been up before.
happy friday. this is a solid fairly new partner. they may even have been on siete times before or…
@Winedavid49
Toughie!
Amavi Cellars? (Seven Hills)
Vincent Arroyo? (Seven Varietals)
@Winedavid49
District 7?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I think you’re right with District 7…
“Siete or” even Seis (Soles, that is).
@Winedavid49
Family Loosely translates to “the mountain”.
@Winedavid49
LaMontagne?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Probably. But …
De La Montanya Winery is in Healdsburg
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Clue? how about Nadal today! heck i bet this “Rushmore” favorite would rather see him win the Italian!
@Winedavid49 Dang, WD, I’m just in the middle of watching the match. I managed to avoid notifications all day, only to be undone on my favorite wine site!
But yes, he sure looked impressive in the first set.
@InFrom um, I was commenting on the first set!
@Winedavid49
Pedroncelli?
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark
If WD doesn’t chime in, @klezman could possibly come up with a clue.
@kawichris650 @MarkDaSpark I’m really bad at this.
This repeat winery only has part of their house on their kind of street.
@kawichris650 @klezman @MarkDaSpark thanks Klezman! not bad. apologies. blaming it on the warriors (wow, boston) and the monday holiday messing me up!
@kawichris650 @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 No more spoilers, WD!
Clue?
This large winery company’s name reminds me of the weather of it’s home location.
@Winedavid49
I’d say Windrun or Fog & Light, but I don’t think they’re “large winery” types.
Fog & Wind ?
@Winedavid49 I don’t even know where to start…hot? Foggy? Windy?
32 Winds?
Rainy (kinda).
it’s not my best clue
@Winedavid49 Arbor Mist?
@klezman @Winedavid49
How do you discount that? Must be FREE!!!
@karenhynes @klezman @Winedavid49 You would have to pay me…!
@klezman @Mark_L @Winedavid49
I don’t believe I have ever knowingly partaken…
@Winedavid49
OK…how about Torrent Wines or Torrent Bay??
@Winedavid49
Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh! Maybe RAEN?
Pretty unlikely, but kinda fits…
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 Still trying to figure out the “best” emphasis.
@karenhynes @Mark_L
It’s all about “ perception”
@karenhynes @Mark_L @Winedavid49 so which brand from precept is rainy?
@karenhynes @klezman @Mark_L Seattle, precipitation.
Sorry…
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Clue? Not just potato’s!
@Winedavid49
Burbank Ranch Vineyard & Winery?
(Templeton in Paso)
Idaho Potatoes are also called Russet or Burbank)
@Winedavid49
Well, there was a group called “The Famous Potatoes” with 2 Baxters …
Baxter Winery (Anderson Valley)?
Oh … the state.
Of course, I haven’t been able to think the same way about Idaho after I saw this …
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue?
it’s not "Recioto ".
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Amarone???
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Clue? normally a goto import source. this one a nice domestic offer.
@Winedavid49
One Vine Wines?
Dom. Cazes Muscat de Rivesaltes?
Piedra Creek offer?
@Winedavid49
Not their “Rosé All Day” in cans! shudder
@Winedavid49
Art+Farm (The Messenger or Circadia) ???
(Began importing wine first.)
Good evening. clue?
no, it’s not Beck and Call.
@Winedavid49
Oh good, it’s not a defunct 4 episode TV Series about 2 female agents whose biggest client is a Pug.
Or is it about the robot and partner in Mighty No. 9? (Video game)
@Winedavid49
“Not” so it wouldn’t be Urgency. Antithesis?
@Winedavid49
Hmmmm, Gård (because you’d couldn’t leave your post)?
Or Au Contraire?
Or Etude (for Attitude)???
@Winedavid49
Ah, the “obvious” one! Not Beck, but Beckon …
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Good evening.
clue?
well, it is Nascar in Sonoma. The weekend tends bring out the “country” in wine country.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
I’ll throw out a first guess…Gilbert Cellars (Brantley Gilbert is/was performing today).
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Oy, I remember once I accidentally came up to Sonoma that weekend. I got stuck on Highway 37 going across the top of the Bay. For like 45 minutes. I’d never been so happy to make it to the Viansa tasting room!
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Well, Gruet Sparkling? (Founder Gilbert Gruet)
Or … Chris Lane performed on Saturday.
Baker Lane?
Bergevin Lane?
Ballard Lane?
Good evening.
locale, Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo,
@Winedavid49
Time for some Malbec?
@Winedavid49
Clue please …
@MarkDaSpark @winedavid49
Difficult week, need something really good!
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin i’ll sure as heck try!
Jim Nanze has been a good one, but really does anyone top Peter coyote??
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 Cross Creek?
Guess 1. The Calling
Guess 2. J Dusi- The Narrator
@joe139
They’ve both had gigs as narrators…
There’s also Aerena Wines, The Unreliable Narrator (haven’t seen Aerena here for quite a while).
@joe139 @karenhynes
Got to be the Narrator by Dusi!
@Winedavid49
TGIF!
Clue? Nice red blend or a Curacao resort?
@Winedavid49
I’d say Renaissance Vineyard & Winery, but they only have Cabs.
@Winedavid49
Bonair Winery? Bonnie Bonair blend
Several Bonaire resorts.
@Winedavid49
Ah, #11!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Happy Father’s day!
clue?
this winery has become a goto of late. consistently good QPR. Kind of like a long reliever, chewing up some innings.
like the player Chase (oh wait, he’s a middle infielder).
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I’ve gotten as far as Chase Uttley…
Did Juneteenth throw everybody off?
I’m so sorry. I’ve been under the weather and on serious brain fog.
Better tomorrow.
@Winedavid49
I’ve got SWMBO testing positive as well…
Hope you’re doing better.
ok back in the saddle!
clue?
have been a fan of this italian varietal since my Viansa days. will be interesting to see how Ciel du Cheval vineyard performs with it.
@Winedavid49
I’ll throw in a vote for Arneis.
Now I gotta drive home from work. Have fun everyone else!
Why does this wine remind me of an Italian motorcycle?
@Winedavid49 Moto Gazzi? Though if I’m remembering correctly, that winery is history.
@Winedavid49
Durigutti Argentinian Reserve Malbec
@Winedavid49 … so, what do I get for my birthday?
@MarkDaSpark
@MarkDaSpark
Happy birthday!
@chefjess @MarkDaSpark Happy Birthday!!
yes, par to this pink mixed offer has sparkling in it!
also has a flotation device and a couple peanut’s Charlie… as a few of the labels.
@chefjess @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I think I sampled all of these last night…too bad you didn’t come Sparky! We missed you!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark
Jillian isn’t the only one to make this grape sing. This artisanal winemaker and friend makes two kinds. and they are beautiful.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Tercero?
@chefjess @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I believe you are correct. Carbonic maceration?
@chefjess @Winedavid49
Micheal David Winery? Only ones I saw with 2 Cinsaults.
Alquimista and Jessie’s Grove only show 1.
@chefjess @Winedavid49
As you noted, Tercero does have 2 Cinsaults, a 2017 and a 2020 Nouveau Cinsault. But does Larry have a winemaker partner?
@chefjess @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
I Love Jessie’s Grove Sinso. Would love it to be that!
@Winedavid49
Just for giggles…I’m throwing in a WineSmith guess.
@MarkDaSpark I think you read too much into “winemaker and friend” – that’s not two people, it’s just the little old winemaker, Larry. Friend of the site, friend of WD. (Thank you for being a friend.)
@chefjess @dawnlac @MarkDaSpark noted.on the Jessie’s grove.
@chefjess @dawnlac @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 so Larry actually makes three now when you include the carbonic…
@Winedavid49 Ty! Their Earth Zin & Fire is good as well!
@InFrom. Doh!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark her winery isn’t the only thing for sale. whoa, i’m excited about this offer.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
If you’re excited, I’m excited!
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Is Virage for sale?
I seriously doubt Corison is…or Iron Horse…or J Dusi…
Not sure what other female-owned wineries we see often…
@karenhynes @klezman @MarkDaSpark keep thinking.
@karenhynes @klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Onesta?
@InFrom @karenhynes @klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 InFrom Beat me by a minute…
i thought it was a good clue…
@Winedavid49 it was! I just think nobody could figure out which was for sale!
@Winedavid49. It was a good clue. Now for another one!
clue?
i find it interesting that a country that is the southern most makes great wine.
@Winedavid49 Since Antarctica isn’t a country and doesn’t make wine I guess we’re going to Chile for Canada Day!
@Winedavid49 Can we please have a clue? Happy 4th.
hi, sorry. all bets are off during 4th of july weekend in Sonoma. but pardon the delay.
this style of sparkling? Ancestral method.
@Winedavid49
We were swimming to cool down, but this needed a bit more, especially since Lucas Meeker has 2.
@Winedavid49
ok, well that was a fun weekend.
clue for tonight? just feels the most like casemates when these folks come back on.
buon quarto di luglio
@Winedavid49 Pedroncelli time!
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49, Tick. Tock.
@MarkDaSpark @danandlisa
apologies.
Clue? in a word Pon.
@danandlisa @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Bernardus
@danandlisa @Winedavid49
So much in one word …
Don Galleano, who passed away last year
Gård Vintners Don Isidro Red Blend
Or
Denier~Handal’s Don Angelo Red Blend
But probably a Don Sebastiani & Sons offer (Il Donato)
@Winedavid49
Didn’t it say “Don”???
Dagnabit!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
I knew what the wine was and I still don’t get the clue. Help???
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 The guy’s last name is Pon. In the About the Winery.
happy friday.
this repeat reminds me of a Dean Martin tune about dance. Heard they dance alot down there.
p.s. double whammy tonight. keep an eye out.
@Winedavid49 Meh ending their mehrathon with vino?
@Winedavid49
Argentinian wine … “Sway” is a Tango
Martellotto “My Way” Malbec ?
Riccitelli “Hey Malbec” ?
@Winedavid49
Or …
Carlos Basso Dos Fincas Malbec
Alberti 154 Reserva Malbec, Bodega Calle
Oh, in case anyone’s wondering what I’m rambling on about: https://meh.com/forum/topics/meh-one-day-birthday-rose-full-or-half-case
@InFrom Yup, and if you look they produced three vintages of MacLeod Family Vineyard Zinfandel Rosé found on CT.
Seems difficult to think this is from some other source.
@rjquillin Seems right that the 2019 vintage is theirs as well, given that the sale didn’t go through until the following year.
I’d love to see rattage, or even better, a $25 coupon for us loyal Casemates customers!
@InFrom @rjquillin
If your SO hasn’t ordered from Casemates, seems like they can use that $25 coupon!
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin Good point. Now if only I’d been the one to make the order I’m sharing!
@Winedavid49
i wonder what Walt may have opined about this wine.
@Winedavid49
Reappearance of The Whitman Express The Conductor Red Blend?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Ah, wrong Walt!
Sneaky! Especially with the recent sale of Silverado (Daughter and SiL of Walt) to Foley.
Disney owned Silverado Vineyards?
@davirom
Daughter and SiL did, but they both passed away. Sold to Foley this June.
Foley buys (Disney)Miller’s Silverado
@davirom @MarkDaSpark yea, was i the only one that felt melancholy about that news? The daughter died suddenly after a fall some years back. a real loss. sad to see it scooped up, IMO
@davirom @MarkDaSpark i digress. clue??
Named his winery after his first horse, understand kemosabee?
@davirom @Winedavid49
Tamber Bey Vineyards
@Winedavid49
Please sir … can’t find any winery related to Clayton Moore, Jay Silverheels, Gene Autry, or Roy Rogers!
(Since you didn’t “like” Tamber Bey.)
@Winedavid49
And Bonny Doon isn’t a horse name (Randall Grahm, the first Rhońe Ranger … who actually dressed up like the Lone Ranger).
@Winedavid49 DOH!
Comanche Cellars
@Winedavid49
But my favorite?
roflmao
@MarkDaSpark LOVE THIS!
@Winedavid49
Well, since it hiccupped on the image (and failed to delete it as well …)
@MarkDaSpark Clue? The irony of it is Unicorn is probably his spirit animal.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Swilly or Clark?
@Winedavid49
So, really, really obscure clue there!
A new meritage from Clark. Stumbled upon it somewhere a few days ago. No CS, Merlot or CF. 29 views on YouTube. Yes, I need to get a life.
@msten Saw it on Clark’s Facebook feed.
@Mark_L @msten The weekend offer, then, perhaps?
@klezman @Mark_L @msten hah, yea i gacked that one!!
@klezman @Mark_L @msten @Winedavid49 Fitting that it was Clark’s, he’s jumped the gun on his offers many a time.
@Winedavid49
Or was last night’s clue for tonight’s offer?
ahem, he’s a unicorn and, based on my recent clue gaffe’s, jackass must be my spirit animal!
@Winedavid49
So as others posted on those gaffes, it’s probably Clark, with a possibility of Swilly.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Looking forward to the rat notes on this blend… 80/20 PV/Malbec!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? Small lot portions, like the vikings must have done.
@Winedavid49
A return of Hidden Legend Winery Mixed Mead ?
@Winedavid49
Small lot was easy …
Vinum, CR Graybehl, de Négoce, Kukeri, Suncé, Baiocchi …
Viking part, not so much!
@Winedavid49
Lo and behold, a search using “mead, small-lot, viking” has Batch Mead as 3rd (but essentially 1st) option.
@TimothyB would have loved to be a labrat for this!
@MarkDaSpark @TimothyB @Winedavid49
The Rats, I think, pretty much got selected from among those commenting on mead in the Want List thread.
Drop in more…
@MarkDaSpark @TimothyB i did think of you Timothy but they had already gone out.
@MarkDaSpark @TimothyB @Winedavid49
And that third Rat sure is MIA.
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @TimothyB @Winedavid49
There’s still time. Perhaps Rat#3 will…rise from the ashes.
I’ll see myself out…
PS: No, I’m not the missing rat. Just going for the really bad joke.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? well, it’d be Mr. leGume if it started with a “C”.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Cowan Cellars/Vineyards?
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Pretty sure Jim Cowen retired in Florida a number of years ago, maybe some old stock?
@MarkDaSpark @ScottW58 @Winedavid49
Hmmm…let’s try:
Domaine l’Ecume de Lune??
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
I saw Cowan Vineyards, but discarded it since only 1 wine in 2015, and most from before 2010.
Thought it would be Cowan based on legume=bean, but Caston? Maybe a 3 Musketeers reference to Gaston?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Aha!
Gaston LeGume is a fictional character and the main antagonist of Walt Disney Pictures’ 30th animated feature film Beauty and the Beast (1991).
We need to stop overthinking @Winedavid49’s clues! Well, most of the time … err, some of the time?
@MarkDaSpark
Yeah, my old brain is pretty unlikely to go the Disney route.
tonight? reminds me of Guns and Roses 2nd most famous song.
@Winedavid49 What the hell is their second most famous song??
Ewald Zweytick November Rain Morillon?
Musical Wines Sweet Child O’Wine Bordeaux?
Barton Family Paradise City Syrah?
Domaine de la Patience?
Obviously Barton Family seems like the winner out of those…
@Winedavid49
Good evening.
these nicely aged reds haven’t sitting by just doing nothing. They’ve aged beautifully.
@Winedavid49
Well, Paso has both Cipher Winery and Oblivion Winery (for the “nothing”).
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Perhaps Idle Cellars?
@Winedavid49 Far Niente winery
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Forgot about them!
“Know what I mean? Eh, eh, Nudge nudge, Say no more?”
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Clue? Machina
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Nobody wants to play tonight??
Okay, I’ll take a crazy/convoluted guess…
Caduceus Cellars
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Forgot to check back! Doh!
Easy one … Ex Machina or Deus Ex Machina. Darn it!
Evening.
Interesting name for a winery
tonight.
Examples of what you’ll find there:
A sweater, a pair of ski gloves, your wallet ( if you are lucky) a golf club head cover…
@Winedavid49
Lost & Found Wines?
Edit: @msten beat me to it! Stupid refresh problem.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I couldn’t find a “Behind the Washer &Dryer Winery ” or a “Closet Floor Vineyard ”
@MarkDaSpark @msten LOL
@msten @Winedavid49
I was looking under “Glovebox”, “Console” (as in between the driver & passenger), “Floorboard”, and “Trunk” … before I realized I was overthinking it!
Lost&Found Wines
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark happy Friday. Drove past this winery on our way to Santa Barbara. Glad to see them back. this one is a stone serratura of a deal!
@Winedavid49
Vampire Vineyards … Vampire/Dracula mixed reds?
@Winedavid49
That was mean!
Distracting us using serratura!
BTW, founder is Italian … serratura is Italian. Piedra is Spanish!
I knew I should have translated Piedra! (Stone)
@Winedavid49
Isn’t it about time?
@Mark_L
Clue?
Bag in another language.
@Mark_L @Winedavid59 Bodega Borsao. Have we ever seen Armida (Winemaker Lapides)?
@Mark_L @msten @Winedavid59 pretty rare but yes!
@Winedavid59
Sacco??
@karenhynes @Winedavid59
Clue?
Still qualifies for Wednesday’s in my book.
@Winedavid49
Are you teasing us?
@Winedavid49
So a Black Tie type of wine …
Gård Vintners Grand Klasse Reserve Reds?
Or Pepper Bridge? Or Iron Horse? Or Ty Caton?
Or maybe Armida?
@rjquillin I am going to have to force myself to stay awake until midnight.
@InFrom just 64 more minutes…
@rjquillin
@Winedavid49 Well played
@Winedavid49 clever clue.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? for starters, near the city of Leiria.
@Winedavid49
More Opta Bairrada Sparkling Brut?
Or Moinho De Sula White Demi-Sec Sparkling Wine?
Either way, One Vine Wines
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I notice a town named Barosa (just add an ‘s’).
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
I should just say “Mixed Portuguese Sparkling Wines” since Bairrada and Bombarra have been the DOC of both offers from OVW here .
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Of course, @Winedavid49 could throw us a change-up and use Elixir Wine Group instead of OVW … so a mixed Portugal Wine offer?
Dorina Lindemann had an offer in January. Porto Meneres is only Port (but one can hope!). And Dona Matilde has only 1 Port & 1 Red wine.
But I’m thinking Vidigal since they’re “nearby the city of Leiria”.
@Winedavid49 … you remember you’re supposed to “Like” the correct answer so we stop guessing, right?
Clue?
I bet tennis player Grigor would love this wine varietal.
@Winedavid49 being from the country he’s from…
@Winedavid49
Kukeri?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 outstanding. That’s a great Bulgarian connection, though not a varietal.
Bulgarian wine. Let’s guess he likes Gewurstraminer, or a Gamza.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Clue? well, it may not be the “holy grail”, but you can chew on great deal on this cabernet.
@Winedavid49
Hmmm, Corison would be the Holy Grail … so
Whitehall Lane?
@Winedavid49
Ooh, ooh … St. Huberts The Stag Cabernet Sauvignon ?
Holy & chewy (venison)
@MarkDaSpark next clue. also owned by…
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 DeNegoce.
OK, I’ll go this time.
Where’s the clue, @WineDavid49?
@klezman Clue? the cool climate vineyard that produced this wine is located in Comptche, CA.
glad to have this winery back after many years. desert wine last time if i recall correctly.
@klezman @Winedavid49
Benessere Vineyards?
@klezman @Winedavid49
Hmmm, looks more like Qupé …
Last offer was their Marsanne Doux 375ml Dessert Wine in 2020.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Only vineyard I can see that’s located in Comptche proper is Oppenlander. Did we have a Pinot Noir dessert wine here?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Also, did Qupe ever make anything from the north coast at all, let alone Mendocino? Everything in CT is Central Coast.
@klezman @Winedavid49
A) the VINEYARD is located there, not necessarily the winery.
it’s been years since the winery has been here.
C) last offer here was (probably) a dessert wine.
Beaulieu Vineyards and Sterling Vineyards have offered dessert wines, but not their last offers.
The only other possibility is Graton Ridge Cellars (aka Furthermore).
Anthill Farms has a wine, but a search doesn’t show an offer here.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I just checked and neither molarchae nor I have a CM or WW-purchased dessert wine from that part of California. I suppose it’s possible we skipped such an offer, but yeah…no help on my CT.
Good guesses, offer was a long time ago.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
Ditto what @klezman on the Finger Lakes!
How long? Like the old site long?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I think there was a Meyer Family Port that we didn’t buy - it rings a bell.
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
July 14, 2011
Port 8
Still have one.
@klezman @Winedavid49
Also a Barra of Mendocino PS Port
I think I saw something about Coro Mendocino (one of their labels) regarding Comptche.
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 Of course you do, Ron
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 “Coro Mendocino” was an attempt by a group of Mendocino winemakers to brand something for the region akin to how Meritage obtained a large branding cachet. A bunch of wineries make/made it - I had some from Eaglepoint Ranch Winery when they ceased operating as a winery and learned about it back then. I think Peterson makes one and there’s a longer story and list here: https://www.coromendocino.com/
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @merrybill @Winedavid49 Yup, one from WW and a couple more for nearly half the price from, of all places, WineBid.
Clue? Look up, it’s a Celtic god!
@Winedavid49
Do you mean the French White wine … Domaine du Tremblay Quincy Cuvee Sucellus
Or the German “Sherry” …
Or the Argentinian Malbec … Sucellus Iuventus Malbec ?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
I’m going to go in a completely different direction and channel my “inner WD”…
Byrd Vineyard??
@Winedavid49
Or … are you mixing Celtic & Norse mythology?
Heidrun Meadery makes mead …
Because a one night Mead offer might work?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Hmmm, the Morrigan was a Celtic goddess that could change into a bird …
Barrett’s Legacy Mead Morrigan’s Favor Mead?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Then, there’s an Italian wine …
Cantine Capecci Morrigan Rosso Piceno Superiore
Please sir, may we have another clue?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Really?
I thought @karenhynes was onto something … but healing?
@Winedavid49
clue?
you must persevere, show grit!
@Winedavid49 Is there a Steadfast Wines or something?
@Winedavid49
Hmmm, True Grit movie … Rooster Cogburn and Mattie Ross.
So either Foghorn offer or a Fort Ross offer?
Or it’s a Parducci True Grit offer!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? 5th generation Sonoma and always welcome here!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Foppiano?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Kunde?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
If not those 2 … The Hess Collection Winery?
Or Gundlach-Bundschu (6 gens though)?
Pedroncelli is only 4 generations. I think Sebastiani (Highway 12) is only 4 too.
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Raymond Vineyard and Cellars and Martinelli Family all have 5 generations too.
But maybe Gundlach-Bundschu is it.
@MarkDaSpark Joseph Swan
@Winedavid49 … I think you just use our guesses as leads!
Sorry for the delay, dropping my kid off at the college your helping fund. Clue? Less than Z
@Winedavid49
Y. Rousseau??
@dirtdoctor @Winedavid49
Long shot but perhaps X winery? I don’t think we’ve seen them since WW days.
@Winedavid49 helping?
@Winedavid49
Is youngest dd settled in her dorm yet?
@MarkDaSpark yes. she booted us out!
clue? “ocean drop”
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 We saw Sea Slopes in Sept. 2019.
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
How about some new blood??
Minus Tide Wines?
@Winedavid49
Fossil Point?
Pacific Rim
What Aaron judge ( Fresno state baby!) would do if he hit a grape!
@Winedavid49 Crush it! (I have no idea what wine that would be.)
@InFrom @Winedavid49
New Crusher offer from Sebastiani ?
Remember The Wilson Big Orange offers.
@rjquillin @Winedavid49 Yeah, the penny just dropped, I remembered The Crusher.
@InFrom @Winedavid49 I call them gumballs, after dropping in a penny, must be my age…
@Winedavid49
Since when is a Grape considered a Berry?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 since botanists defined the being of “berry”. Grapes, tomatoes, gooseberries are berries. The other things we call berries are not.
@klezman @MarkDaSpark thank you. neener neener!
@klezman @Winedavid49
But mine self-identify as berries!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berry_(botany)
@Winedavid49 … hopefully we won’t need to be a botanist for this clue!
@MarkDaSpark LOL!
Clue? Calistoga vertical this time.
Laura Michael
Get the charge card ready !?
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Clue?
do epic shit.
it’s about the family.
Browne Family
@Winedavid49
A social and luxurious lifestyle.
@Winedavid49 Never seen them here, but Opulence fits.
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Buena Vista?
Senior living uses those 2 terms a lot!
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Looks like a winner. Will it be a business casual offer or should I root through the closet for my black tie?
@Mark_L @msten @Winedavid49
Until WD49 “likes” it, all bets are off …
@Mark_L @msten @Winedavid49
Welll, since I don’t think WD is sourcing from Wisconsin, (Bon Vivant Red Blend from Cedar Creek Winery) …
Noyo Creek Bon Vivant Brut?
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid49 except apparently he is?
@klezman @Mark_L @msten @Winedavid49
How is Father John Winery in Anderson Valley (California) from Wisconsin?
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark @winedavid49
Must have something to do with kids back in school, or other nonsenses.
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin oof, sorry mates.
quick clue.
Those amazing …
@Winedavid49 Mets?
Or should that be Metz?
I see a Metz Road winery, among others.
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!
@Winedavid49
howdy. Clue?
another great expression of unique single vineyard Rhone Varietal displayed here. Brava.
@Winedavid49
CR Graybehl ?
Or Stolpman Estate?
@Winedavid49
Or Zinke Wine Co.?
@Winedavid49 brava is a feminine form of bravo. I’m looking for a female winemaker, say Jillian DeLeon at Onesta. Cinsault? Bechtold vineyard.
@msten @Winedavid49
Great call!
clue? winemaker from Hess and Robert Craig makes this one.
@Winedavid49
i’m such a softie for 8th street wineries. no fuss, just damn good wine. this one is an 8 iron from Ty.
@Winedavid49
TyTanium?
@Winedavid49 150 yards away from Ty….hmmmm
@Winedavid49 Tin Barn
@losthighwayz @Winedavid49
That makes more sense. I whiffed the clue
@losthighwayz @Winedavid49 offered about once a year, solid guess.
@losthighwayz @Winedavid49
I wish my 8 iron went 150 yards, 140 max I’m getting old
@ScottW58 @Winedavid49 haha at least you golf. I googled 8 iron distance
Happy Friday.
clue?
tell your gamer friendz, back by popular demand!
@Winedavid49
Scott Harvey’s InZinerator (Superhero)
@Winedavid49
Or is it The Messenger?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
I don’t have any gamer friends or friendz. I HAVE had too much wine to peruse the google-sphere tonight.
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Well, WD did say it was back, so it’s been here before.
I keep wanting to say D-Cubed …
(WD used a video game reference for The Messenger before).
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
Sorry Labor Day weekend messing me up. Thanks for the reminder!
Clue? Old pebble
@Winedavid49
I’ll take a stab with Elder Rock…
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Well, since you took the best answer
Fossil Point as runner up!
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Yeah, but that’s precisely Karen’s job!
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
LOL! I’ve been trying to lay low and let others play but I’m super bored tonight.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49. I know it feels like a Monday, but it’s a Tuesday!
@MarkDaSpark oh, i’m all F*cke up… haha.
this CA heat is cray. no shipping today, fyi. just held everything.
yea, i’m just hunkering down on the homestead aka farm…
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 The return of Gard?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
wise call…
I’m expecting this one day!
@Winedavid49
Thursday …
@MarkDaSpark Sparky with some new material!
Clue?
the name on this label is the same as an all time great college baseball coach. Augie.
Or Mansion Garrido Estate Winery
Rioja. Eduardo Garrido. For the six of us in the world that look for four weekly clues.
@msten it’s a living!
@WineDavid49
Is it Friday already?
clue? couple of chards from one of our fav’s. first time for Frank i believe!
@Winedavid49
I’d say Pedroncelli, but we had their Frank Johnson vineyard last year in an offer.
Hopefully, @Winedavid49’s clue won’t be forgetful this time!
yea, my bad. could have sworn We hadn’t run Frank.
anyway, how about that Alcarez winning the open.
coincidentally, he has the soul of a lion.
@Winedavid49
Leoni Farms?
Ooo … DAOU Family Estates has “Soul of a Lion”
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Maybe a bit over the black tie limit.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Maybe a Lionheart?
@Winedavid49 Good thing I watched it live today otherwise I’d be pissed at the spoiler!
@klezman @Winedavid49 Yeah, I hesitated to look at the clue while I was watching the recording. Can’t say I’m PO’ed at WD though. I should have known better this time. Fool me twice…
@InFrom @klezman it was a good 6 hours after the match was over, statute of limitations!
@InFrom @Winedavid49 statute of limitations there is more like 3 days!
@InFrom @klezman @Winedavid49
Nope … at most a 3 hour moratorium on Tennis & Golf.
@Winedavid49 It was a beautiful Sunday, what can I say? Tennis had to wait.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? one vowel away from a snake bite.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Vinum would work.
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
I’m going with Benom.
Vinum is 2 vowels away…
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 ??? vInum << vEnom. B or V are not vowels.
@karenhynes @Mark_L @Winedavid49
Fight! Fight!
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
vInUm…vEnOm
2 vowels different.
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Though Vinum is likely correct. They’ve been here before and, well, WD’s spelling has been known to be flawed.
@karenhynes @Mark_L @Winedavid49
Well, it could be 2 vowels, so it might Vinum.
Then again, it could be no vowels change … but doubt WD got Seghesio Venom Sangiovese for us. Then again …
@karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 wish it was Benom That would be quite the coup
On a Paso side note, a group of us visited Victor at Vines on the Marycrest a few weeks back we joined the Club!
@karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Karen you nailed it, right down to the spelling idiosyncracies.
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
But the O in venom sounds like a U! WD probably thought the same thing.
@karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark damn, i thought the clue was clever until i got corrected (again!). oh well, good guess!
@karenhynes @Mark_L @Winedavid49
It was … if the winery was Venum or Vinom.
I still think you do it on porpoise!
(To get clues for new wineries to hustle!)
Winesmith. Bates Ranch Grenache. WD has the day off. Let’s do it in reverse. What would anyone offer as a clue?
@msten Just noticed Clark’s Facebook post.
@msten
Easy, Psycho wine
@msten “I’m not even going to crush these grapes. I hope they are watching. They’ll see. They’ll see and they’ll know."
@msten @ScottW58
clue? one vowel away from a fisherman’s lure.
(What … too soon?)
(Baits = Bates)
@MarkDaSpark @msten @ScottW58 Not too soon, perfect timing!
@MarkDaSpark @ScottW58 We a winner!
@MarkDaSpark @msten @ScottW58 LOL
hahah!! love it! it is intl grenache day.
@Winedavid49
Just remember that next Monday (Sept. 19th) is “International Talk Like A Pirate Day”!!!
Me Parrot needs a cracker! Arrrr!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 you mean we need twisted Oak?
@klezman @Winedavid49
Ssshhh!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark one of our goto South American partners but this time with a unique white! vroom vroom!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 For some reason I’m thinking Durigutti.
good evening.
no prohibition with this wine!
@Winedavid49. Dagnabit! I had a new one!
@Winedavid49
Prohibido Wines
@Winedavid49. Well then … no Like from WD.
Pedroncelli or Handley Cellars? Survived Prohibition by selling Sacramental Wan3s and/or grapes.
@MarkDaSpark liked!
@Winedavid49. And here we were hoping for a Twisted Oak offer!
But we’re always happy with the wines you offer!
Not much chatter on this deal, so it’s time for a clue! @WineDavid49
@klezman i agree! now this offer up tonight? i think these blends will attract and even beguile you.
@klezman @Winedavid49
Spellbound
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 ok, I see what you did there
@klezman @Winedavid49
An enticing offer!
@Winedavid49
Less than 2 hours left … @Winedavid49
Is this the first time we’ve offered this type of vessel??
Good for mornings!
@Winedavid49
Peterson Zero Manipulation Red Wine, Tollini Vineyard (Box wine)
Or better yet, those small cans of Vino Noceto’s Frivolo!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
You got the can!
@rjquillin @Winedavid49
Sorta … it is slightly bubbly. Was almost going to say a bubbly in a can. Shoulda, coulda, woulda!
French Press Pinot Noir
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
i know, i know, but hey this ain’t not grand production, no big show and tell, no animal spectacle!
@Winedavid49
de Négoce?
Comanche Cellars? (Not Dog & Pony, those are animals!)
@Winedavid49
Little Vineyards?
@Winedavid49
Really? “no animal spectacle” …
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 not a spectacle - a dog and pony show!
@klezman @Winedavid49
Really? They’re still animals. But it’s the logic I’ve come to expect from you.
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 In WD’s defense, the clue could be construed to say “…ain’t [a] no animal spectacle”, where the double negative would suggest animals are included.
@klezman @Mark_L @Winedavid49
If that “ain’t” was immediately preceeding it, of course! But it wasn’t. So nope! Nyet! Negatory!
Except for the last portion, it lines up perfectly!
Your logic fails based on the first part, because then it would be a “grand spectacle” AND a Big Show and Tell!
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 You seem to be suggesting that WD’s posts perfectly follow the norms!
Happy Sunday.
New winery. Rhymes with Lotto.
@Winedavid49
Del Dotto?
Tuesday … @Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark good one!
this wine is has a great vineyard. aka Frazier first name and aka seat for last.
@Winedavid49
Adams Bench Winery? (Vineyard in Yakima Valley)
@MarkDaSpark got one right!
@Winedavid49. Tricksy WD!!
Prima Materia, Kelsey Bench
Barbera? Petite Sirah ?
@Winedavid49. Frasier …
I remember a dr crane vineyard here before, does Beckstoffer mean chair?
@Winedavid49
PS: Any news on 5th Anniversary?
Clue? Austin Butler
and on 5th. i’m thinking…
Wasn’t Stillman an Elvis fan? Probably way off. Sorry, I’m new at this. Karen?
@jmdavidson1 Nicely done, a pretty solid guess.
@jmdavidson1 @msten
Seems pretty reasonable to me!
…or it could be King’s Estate.
@jmdavidson1 @karenhynes Also a good option.
@Winedavid49
Clue? Aka steam engine.
@Winedavid49
Iron Horse??
@Winedavid49
Or Whitman Express The Conductor?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 Yeah, Iron Horse would be the low hanging fruit for that clue. They dumped a ton of stuff on WTSO a while back. But maybe it’s time for a nicely priced bubbly offer now that they released a couple new vintages?
In all honesty, their SRP has inflated well past the point of it being a good value. So many good grower Champagnes in the $45-60 range.
@WineDavid49
@MarkDaSpark Good evening. an interesting wine from a seldom sold part of the world. in fact, i don’t think you’ll love this way again.
@Winedavid49
Warwick Wine Estate (Stellenbosch)
Edit: although I guess it could be Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery in NY. But I’m thinking more from Stellenbosch.
@MarkDaSpark Ding ding!
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49. Knock. Knock.
@danandlisa crap. sorry. long couple of days.
quick clue- like i looked like an excited casper!
@danandlisa @Winedavid49
Stokes Ghost?
@Winedavid49 lol … fat fingers typed W3nedwvid49
@MarkDaSpark not orange coast college…
@Winedavid49
Old County Cellars?
Edit: Or Orange Coast Winery?
@Winedavid49
Tricksy! Golden West College in OC!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Seriously…I almost guessed that but I got distracted.
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
With you, it never seems a ‘guess’
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
It slipped my mind that WD is familiar with the OC (because of #1 daughter)!
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark
Sorry, just got back from watching the blue angels! Epic!
This was my friend Drew’s favorite wine back in the day. And just because Rick has a son named Drew (and john)doesn’t mean he’s connected to this wine, mate!
@Winedavid49
Jim Barry Wines Vineyard (Clare Valley, Australia)
@Winedavid49
1:
@MarkDaSpark another great red mix from our latest “mendo go to”.
Peterson red blend?
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue< Benny, Paul Michael
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Montgomery’s Hill winery?
@InFrom @Winedavid49
H3 Wines from Horse Heaven Hills (HHH aka Triple H)
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Well, I got the Hill part and the Australia part. But come to think of it, Montgomery is John Michael, not Paul Michael, oh well.
Yo, WD, tomorrow is Friday!
That Monday holiday must have @winedavid49 all mixed up, or there would have been a clue already here…
@rjquillin i tell you, i swear i’ve given the clue some times… my bad.
clue: buy hey don’t give me no guff. quit giving me no lip.
@rjquillin @Winedavid49
Two double negatives!
Stillman Brown Red Zeppelin?
@rjquillin @Winedavid49
Aha! Sassy!
@rjquillin @Winedavid49 nice clue
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue?
Well, the clue is right in front of your face. It’s so clear.
@Winedavid49
Hmmm …
Halcyon Wines?
Claro Wines (Chile)?
Edit: Big Nose Winery (Temecula)?
@Winedavid49
I’d say Tall Glass Vineyards except:
A) Looks like they haven’t opened yet, AND
B ) They’re in New Hampshire!
@Winedavid49
Chiaro Wines (Italy)?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 There is an Obvious Wine
@Winedavid49 Since we’ve been on an Australian streak, how about Two Hands?
@Winedavid49
If we haven’t gotten it yet …
Where’s @karenhynes with her insight?
@MarkDaSpark
Please see the “what are you drinking…” thread.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Crystal Basin?
@msten @Winedavid49
Winner, winner, dinner!
@Winedavid49
I said “Hi” to Janelle for you!
@MarkDaSpark clue? Cotton was called this in it’s heyday.
@Winedavid49
King Estates (Cotton is King)
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Just beat me to it!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark our go to value Pinot (not easy to find a value pinot).
and no, canned cat food is not in the tasting notes.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Is there a Fancy Feast winery???
@InFrom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Tin barn?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 fog and wind.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Tricky!
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 David are you here?
@danandlisa @MarkDaSpark ah dammit!
@danandlisa @Winedavid49
Not familiar with that wine …
@Winedavid49
Could have used Cellar joke …
Will he or won’t he?
@Winedavid49
sorry about that.
i definitely will, no room for negotiations here!
The Verdict CS
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark tonight’s offer i believe this is a first fraulein!
@MarkDaSpark 2nd clue - house of carnivore (in the homeland)
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Fleischfresser from Oklahoma?! Except he seems to be a chef not a winemaker.
Is there a wine from Germany called that?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Weingut Fleischer?
@Winedavid49
Faust Wines?
Haus der Fleischfresser?
@klezman @Winedavid49
Or Austria?
But had seen the chef in OK too.
@klezman @Winedavid49
Oh … nitpicking, but Villa isn’t German.
But good clues otherwise.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? no tusks, not Ernie.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Ivory & Burt?
@Winedavid49
St Huberts The Stag
No Tusks (i.e. so no Ivory), so Antlers.
@Winedavid49
So when there’s 2 clues, the first one is a Bizarro one, and the 2nd is Normal?
Hiking in Yosemite back country this weekend. will give clue for tonight’s offer and one for Friday night…
Tonight: Quite the shake up at this Brittish “beltway”.
Friday night: & Tattenhill…
@Winedavid49 Coventry,
Coventry Vale Winery?
@Winedavid49
Or ring road = King Estates?
@Winedavid49
oh … that part by #10
@Winedavid49
Google is showing me a Tatenhill. But no idea where to go from there.
@Winedavid49 Dang, I was only looking at places 2.5 mi ENE of Tattenhall rail station.
https://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/place/4529
@InFrom @Winedavid49
I was wondering … there’s an annual Screamfest in Tatenhill. And a Burton location involved, but thart was as far as I got.
LOL on the rail station!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark just got back. hiway 12 in the afternoon is no fun.
just can’t seem to find a good “catch phrase” for this one!!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Motto Winery?
@InFrom @Winedavid49
Highway 12 Winery – “Come Ride With Us”?
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark
Um, like nothing ever offered before.
and yes a lucky few may get an aged Wellington.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Mystery Mixed Ports?
@InFrom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 A “clean out the warehouse” mystery pack?
Speaking of which…@WineDavid49 you can probably send me that RPM Tour stuff since the weather is suitable.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? don’t judge a wine by the label, capeesh?
@Winedavid49 Capiche?
Peterson Winery Mendo Blendo Red Blend or other Peterson Winery offer?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Noceto Nutz?
@MarkDaSpark yes capiche.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 As in Italian for QPR? (Another Pedroncelli offering?)
@Winedavid49
Cazzaro Rosso Italian Red Blend?
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark happy Friday. i just get the feeling Kool and the Gang would load up like alot of us do when this offer comes up.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Bell Wine Cellars?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Gruet?
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Please secure more Bell again even tho Anthony Bell has retired!
Jungle Boogie Pinot Noir?
@msten Is that a thing?! Excellent
@klezman I really hope it isn’t.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark somebody forgot about daylight savings.!!
it’s baaack. This varietal grown more in France than Cabernet?? wow.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Merlot, but who is the repeat winery? Pedroncelli?
@jmdavidson1 @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
The Provenance Merlot was nice, too.
@jmdavidson1 @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Grenache, Carignan and Syrah also qualify.
@Winedavid49
5pm is not too early!
@jmdavidson1 @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
As does Chardonnay.
If at first…
clue for this evening?
Assassin middle name.
@Winedavid49 Scott Harvey? Or Jana?
@davirom As in Lee HARVEY Oswald, got it. How did you get Jana out of that?
@davirom @jmdavidson1 Or John WILKES Booth.
@jmdavidson1 Scott and Jana are married and they are both winemakers.
@Winedavid49 nice clue. One of the two, both have been seen previously. I would guess a Scott Harvey Zin/Barbera offer as we’re about 11 months out from last offer.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? all along you’ve been waiting for this moment to arrive.
Blackbird Vineyards
@msten Perhaps @cortot is a rat…
@CorTot @klezman @msten
That was my first guess…
@CorTot @klezman @msten Sharp eyes, Klez. And @CorTot, is that a whoopsies, or an amazing coinkydink?
Pretty bottle. Reminds me of something from Woot back in the Aughts, the label had the silhouette of birds on a wire.
@InFrom Outlier PN on that one. I really enjoyed the NOIRO PN from the same winemaker. For the price was banging.
@radiolysis I think I got that one, but the one I was thinking of was the TLC Aussie blend. I believe it was made by the people from Calcareous. I re-upped on it a couple of times, it was great for the price, if a bit fruity, and my work friends really liked it.
just for fun:
/giphy TLC-Aussie-blend
Is that Kyrgios?
@InFrom probably!
Good evening.
not sure if i got it right but here goes: Gebirgsquelle
@Winedavid49
Well, in Bizarro-speak, Spring Mountain … so
Either a de Négoce Spring Mountain District, Napa Valley offer
Or a Spring Mountain Vineyard offer (filed for bankruptcy last year). IIRC, they were used as the Falcon Crest buildings.
@Winedavid49 You could have recycled the Tuesday clue.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
2 hours, 6 minutes, and 20 seconds
@MarkDaSpark Will you like tonight’s wine? are we not men? de Yesso!
@Winedavid49
First thought is de Négoce
Even though they were up last month.
@Winedavid49
2nd thought … Aimery Crémant de Limoux Brut Sparkling Wine (as in Brute).
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Or maybe a nice Finger Lakes offering, from Anthony Road – Devonian Red or White?
@InFrom @Winedavid49
Bizarro clue time … Yes means No!
@InFrom @MarkDaSpark yea, maybe. Clearly no Devo fans among us.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I thought I had a decent Devo reference…
@InFrom @MarkDaSpark I see it now!
@InFrom @Winedavid49
I only remember “Whip it” and their weird hats.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Straight outta 1978!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 clever clue. Part of the Akron music scene.
@Winedavid49
Normally take the night off. But I got him out of rhythm with my late communication.
@Winedavid49 Clark, I guess.
Poor guy can’t keep a secret. For the varietal: a favorite British motorcycle clue, leaks oil, chain fails, frame breaks, 750cc of trouble.
@msten
Norton. Heringer Estate Vineyards
hi all!
tonights old world winery is ironically known for embracing a new world approach. kegs. no, kegs are not for sale tonight…!
@Winedavid49 dr loosen?
@Winedavid49
Wanted to ask for another clue, but it was less than an hour to go …
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Happy Friday. clue? Bacharach and his piano.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Looks like another Ivory & Burt (happen to be drinking a Cab from the previous offer last month).
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Great call! Blanked trying obscure clue areas … doh!
Spaced on piano (Ivories).
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I thought it hit the “Obvious” button.
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
It did! But when one focuses on Obscure …
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark i think you’ll like this wine, since they’ve given all they’ve got!!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
There have been a couple of “effort” offers in the past.
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin Scottish accent!
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 About all that comes to my mind is Gott.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 clever clue. Bonus points for what seems to be a Star Trek reference.
good evening.
clue tonight? Latin for…
@Winedavid49 Vinum?
@Winedavid49. No Mark tonight bugging you for a clue? So?
@jmdavidson1 happy thanksgiving! Sparky may have turkey coma!
clue? every once in a while we get our hands on, not sparkling, but some of the best pinot in the world.
@jmdavidson1 @Winedavid49 agreed - iron horse Pinot
Probably IH clue.
Recovered from tryptophan coma …
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
Well, since I was ignored on Friday …
@MarkDaSpark my bad on that.
clue tonight?
Vesela Koleda
@Winedavid49
Kukeri?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Probably, but small possibility of it being Bulgarian Red from Telescope Winery
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 telescope would be good
@Winedavid49
This region is a first for casemates (etal). excited to bring it you. birthplace?
@Winedavid49 Origen (Finca el Origen)?
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Was thinking Sicily at first or an Armagnac.
Found that Georgia is considered the Birthplace
Although “The oldest-known winery was discovered in the “Areni-1” cave in Vayots Dzor, Armenia.”
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
There’s also an Origin Wines in British Columbia…but their website seems to be dead. They may not have survived the COVID mess.
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Clark Smith has given some wine seminars in Georgia. Maybe he helped WD get the hookup?
Israeli wine?
@ScottW58 I’d be a big fan of that
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark good evening. a renowned wine maker with his own brand. don’t need an opus to to figure out. how about a song…Doe Ray Me.
@Winedavid49
Tim Mondavi’s Euclid Wines?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 clever clue
Martin Ray? Not sure about the Opus (One) reference. . .
@davirom
I thought yours was a better guess, but Nope!
Daniel Ray Manies aka DRM.
Was a Master Cellarman of Opus One …
I saw Tim Mondavi, and skipped looking for others. Doh!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark howdy! clue?
rapporto qualità prezzo
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Pedroncelli??
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
After all, it is Italian for QPR.
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
If it isn’t (which I doubt, I think you nailed it), then either Casemates QPR Select or a Casemates QPR 2
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
oooh…totally possible.
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I wonder if it’s the annual Pedroncelli on Meh that was discussed on the Deals forum
@davirom @karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
No room, but FOMO will likely rule despite…
@davirom @karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 I was tempted to pull the trigger (with coupon) on today’s offer, but the likelihood of what is coming (as well as my increasingly overstocked storage capacity) made me resist.
Is @WineDavid49 watching too much football to give us a clue? It’s crunch time for fantasy leagues, after all.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Guess David is busy with something else.
@danandlisa @MarkDaSpark yea like being stuck driving in rainy holiday traffic coming back from a socal wedding!
sorry, i should have planned better.
@danandlisa @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 you are always welcome to stop by when in SoCal!
@danandlisa @klezman @MarkDaSpark of course! thank you. i’m still peaved my nephew decided to get married smack dab in the middle of Q4 madness! (he and his lovely bride don’t know this). so cal was definitely a quick strike.
Clue?
James Suckling described this region as “solid, rich, easy-to-like, and best of all wallet-friendly wines.”
@Winedavid49
2019 Torre Zambra Villamagna Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
@rjquillin That’s pretty specific…
@davirom @rjquillin There are a number of matches to Montepulciano d’Abruzzo sites with Suckling’s quote. Some others are Tenuta Ulisse ‘Amaranta’ Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Bollina Sampei Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
@Winedavid49 Fantastic guess. Abruzzo region is one of the Italian qpr locales.
@Winedavid49
Bollina Sampei Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC
(From One Vine Wines)
@davirom
And likely a bit too $$ to be the offer.
The One Vine source seems a higher probability.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
No wedding drive excuse? Thursday Night Football?
@MarkDaSpark sweating it in the warehouse!
dare i say i’m feeling a little “randy” this evening. must be the lunar influence.
@Winedavid49
Harvest Moon RandyZin Blend … 2017 or 2018? Or 2019?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
He has been hanging out here lately
@MarkDaSpark I suspect a PN
@losthighwayz @MarkDaSpark right winery, wrong wine
@klezman @losthighwayz
Well, @Winedavid49 said he was feeling “randy” …
good evening. Clue?
Athena and Stewart
@Winedavid49 Boedecker Cellars? (Better alert @karenhynes!)
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
I can’t hear you!
@Winedavid49
Do we need another clue? You haven’t “Liked” @Mark_L’s post!
Good evening.
Clue?
An act when making bubbly.
@Winedavid49 Riddle wines?
@InFrom @Winedavid49
Probably that, but one can hope it is Concannon Assemblage White or Red
Edit: Thought at first I remembered an Assemblage wine from a Lodi winery, but it was Acquiesce (which would be great to get here!) Winery. It was from my Concannon WC that I remembered it.
@Winedavid49 rack and riddle
@CorTot @Winedavid49
Ooh, that’s one that has been mentioned elsewhere here.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark damn, today was nuts.
late clue?
the “pied piper” this time is a white wine we think you’ll enjoy.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Hamelin Bay Sauv Blanc?
@MarkDaSpark Russian Ridge Chardonnay
@InFrom @Winedavid49
Or a Chablis from Domaine Hamelin
@Winedavid49
Eh, pied piper wasn’t a Messenger
@MarkDaSpark to quote my favorite Hugh Grant movie, it’s not a classic antidote.
@Winedavid49 lol.
You mean:
good evening. a second offering from this winery.
kind of reminds me of a male witch.
@Winedavid49
I’d say Sleight of Hand’s The Magician (Evergreen Vineyard White) or The Conjurer (Red), but I don’t see them on here before.
@Winedavid49
Spellbound Wines?
SOH have a Spellbinder Red … thus the above thought.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Faust Wine has a warlock-looking creature on their label but I’m not sure we’ve seen them here.
@chefjess @Winedavid49
No, no Faust Wines here before.
But … Rebecca Faust is co-owner at Rack & Riddle.
So either another R&R bubbly or a wine or bubbly from their sister winery, Breathless Wines (in Sonoma).
And … Cynthia Faust is a sister to Rebecca, and also involved in both Breathless and R&R!
Edit: And the winemaker at Breathless is Consulting Winemaker at R&R!
@chefjess @Winedavid49
So you get a quarter credit for thinking of Faust, if we are correct. 100% of the blame if wrong!
Edit: you know, for corrupting my innocence.
@chefjess @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Warwick Estate has appeared once (warwick=>warlock?).
@chefjess @Mark_L @Winedavid49
Looks like Warwick Estate it is! (WD “liked” it.)
Forgot all about Warwick Davis (Professor Filius Flitwick in Harry Potter series AND as Willow Ufgood (aspiring magician) in the movie Willow.)
Been reading about the new TV series on Disney + that started last month because of Val Kilmer.
/youtube tbbveDpUZv4
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark very pumped to have a new flavor from this long standing partner. Angelina!!
@Winedavid49
Martin Ray?
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49 … is the soccer game that interesting?
@MarkDaSpark it was that interesting! on that note, after the penalty kicks Argentina won “with room to spare” !! hahah. i crack myself up.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 You could say they won handily.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 penalty kicks are the worst way to decide a game. Especially a championship game. Yuck.
@InFrom @Winedavid49
Except that only the goalie is allowed to use hands!
@klezman @Winedavid49
No, the Worst Way is another boring 30 minutes of no one scoring!
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 At least in hockey they don’t do shootouts in the playoffs.
@davirom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 “Nobody scoring is boring” is such an American thing to say.
@davirom @klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Lol! “It’s an American thing” you need to get out more, I know plenty of non Americans that say the same thing and half of them are Canadian. I happen to love soccer and if you think the first 75 minutes was bad soccer I have to think you don’t really like the sport!
@davirom @MarkDaSpark @ScottW58 @Winedavid49 well, it seemed like France didn’t show up, and to me an uncompetitive game is a bad game no matter the sport.
I know lots of people who think soccer is boring, but the ones who say it’s because there are no goals have been, in my experience, mostly American.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Pablo and Hector
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Looks like Durigutti.
@Winedavid49
Clue? You won’t need a King’s Purse to get this wine
@Winedavid49 could there be four of them?
Happy Friday before Christmas!
Clue? no mystery here. a few left.
@Winedavid49 More Wellingtons?
@Mark_L @Winedavid49 Oooh… Better check in at midnight, just in case.
@InFrom @Mark_L @Winedavid49
Probably just more warehouse cleanout bottles!
@InFrom @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Random Woot Cellars bottles?
@InFrom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I had the same thought as Sparky – a few more “Mystery Cases”, but the mystery has already been solved.
@InFrom @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Has to be more than a few for it to be an offer.
@InFrom @jmdavidson1 @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
especially for a 2-day, over Christmas/Hanukkah weekend.
Almost thinking he was pimping the last of the cases for this current Friday offer.
@InFrom @Mark_L @Winedavid49
But that was the clue!
@InFrom @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark if I recall correctly, didn’t the mystery cases sell out?
@dirtdoctor @InFrom @Mark_L
Yes, it sold out, but it was a Friday offer.
This might be more orphans.
@winedavid49
Only three more hours for that clue…
@rjquillin @Winedavid49
Less than 2 hours now …
@winedavid49
@rjquillin @markdaspark hah, i totally spaced. plus my wife made me put the phone away during christmas festivities!
i’m sorry.
holiday fog mostly behind me. speaking of weather,
General Schwarzkopf would like this wine i bet.
@Winedavid49
Stoller Pinot Noir Desert Storm Commemorative Vintage Stoller Vineyard?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 With the “weather” comment, I’m thinking that the “stormin” might be a better direction. Something like Maggy Hawk Pinot Noir Stormin’.
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 good clue. Nobody got it yet
@Winedavid49 I think a nice Vayqueras or Gigondas from Domaine de la Tete Noire would be just peachy. Unfortunately they don’t seem to sell Stateside.
Oh yeah, and it’s supposed to be something with weather in it…
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark the beginning of a subtle nod to my buddy Ed.
@Winedavid49
Pedroncelli!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
and recently had an offer on RWS as well
The question; what will it be?
A Casemates special bottling perhaps…
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 but that would be a rather odd Friday offer
The beginning of a subtle nod? Sounds like multiple offers are coming.
Hey @WineDavid49, time for the last clue of 2022!
@klezman actually, i gave the clue yesterday…
@klezman @Winedavid49 Moar Pedroncelli!
@Winedavid49 I was wondering if that’s what you meant! Port would be the traditional offer around this time of year.
@klezman @Winedavid49 Except historically they have hit later in January.
@klezman @Mark_L @Winedavid49
I see bubbley and WS as the only common points, but I’ll still hope for IH to make an appearance since we haven’t seen Cathy in years…
@InFrom @klezman @rjquillin
Friend’s Red… we should’ve seen that coming haha.
port with chocolates?
