@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 If it’s the one that I’m a rat for, which isn’t Annie Anne, I can’t wait to see the price. It’s delicious. (teaser) (Loved the mystery referral. LOL)
@MarkDaSpark sorry, i got stuck listening to Jayson Kelce’s retirement speech! great, but took a while.
ok, i have a very big sweet spot for Navarro Vineyards, but from a QPR perspective, this winery (at this deal price!) is the best winery in that area for the money. HANDS down.
@karenhynes@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid49 Sharp as always. I ratted the Zin on a previous offer. Seemed to be the belle of the ball. Haven’t tried any of the others yet.
this series of wines, is at the top of the hill. every time. i believe it’s the lowest price we’ve ever had it here or back in the day. Climb to the top to grab this amazing wine.
@MarkDaSpark I took the night off for my daughter’s wedding in Chicago. Easily the highest end meal I’ve ever eaten (the place is Michelin starred 2011-2023), and service that was beyond impeccable. Sadly, my taste and smell has not yet returned. (Sorry for the blurry image.)
I was hoping Jana & Scott had a Sparkling Rosé, but doesn’t look like it since their sparkling is white. But I did mention the Sparkling in the other three guesses!
It took us over seven months to agree on the name of our daughter, Alaina. Then we liked it so much we decided to name our next baby, which just happened to be a Rosé
King snake, also known as a milk snake or chain snake, is probably one of the most beautiful snakes found on our farms. But that is not where they get the names from. The name ‘king’ comes from their ability to kill and prey on other snakes including the venomous ones, without the venom affecting them. They can eat snakes of the same size and even larger them. They are nonvenomous and that why some people keep them as a pet.
@MarkDaSpark good evening. it’s not what the label states, BUT the QPR on this “classic’” is off the charts. lowest price by far (and yes this has been offered here before).
@MarkDaSpark with due respect to Iron Horse (and some others i may add later) this is the best deal the the best Chardonnay maybe ever. i am adament, ardent and eager!
@MarkDaSpark hi all, another solid showing from this consistently great QPR source. i bet if we could ship to Canada, this right leaning (i think) thought provoking personality would approve.
@klezman@MarkDaSpark
She has been running some specials the past month+ or so.
She has also been adding medals and ribbons, and selling out of some bottlings via the club.
So, he was born in San Miguel el Grande in Guanajuato, Mexico, knew Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, mayor of Querétaro, Miguel Domínguez, and got support at San Miguel el Grande
Missed connecting those!
Although probably wouldn’t have gotten this, but
Rancho San Miguel Winery in Sonoma.
Clue (#1) for tomorrow’s offer:
Mine are really barking tonight. Time to chillax with a glass of something…perhaps a Rhône-sé?
(Hey, did I just coin a new word?)
I’m heading out to dinner with a long-lost friend. Will supply an additional clue, if needed, later this evening.
Or only Mystery Sparkling Wines offer ? (Multiple wineries, not the single winery implied in my first guesses. Like all Imported Wineries (Aimery, Bruscotto, etc.)
Single like:
Like all Gruet Sparkling.
Or all Iron Horse Sparkling.
(Label created by a well respected wine family in Sonoma, California. The name comes from the three men who crafted the wine; they are from the 3rd and 4th generations of the family.)
@MarkDaSpark How are either of those related to the clue (neither win nor loss)? I don’t get the connection. (That’s not to say my guess is right, either.)
Lake Sonoma, located in Sonoma County, California’s coastal foothills, was formed in 1984 by the construction of Warm Springs Dam by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The dam’s construction was authorized by Congress in 1937 after heavy flooding of the Russian River in 1937
Would have helped if any of us had checked back after WD posted the 2nd clue!
@MarkDaSpark damn. got pulled late. have i used the clue- decent back up center for the Houston Rockets 20+years back yet for this (fairly recent) goto winery?
@MarkDaSpark Something for everyone tonight. look around! clue? may be the only woman wine maker on the Mount Rushmore of old site/casemates wine makers. with all due respect to Cathy (not enough at bats!).
As WD stated, she hasn’t been up on Casemates at all, and while there were offers on the old site at the beginning, she tapered off. Mostly due to her great juice and the accolades they received. She basically priced out on offers.
IIRC, one of her wines (Kronos) was in the top 101 in Gary Vaynerchuk’s 101 Wines: Guaranteed to Inspire, Delight, and Bring Thunder to Your World (2008).
She was the first female winemaker in Napa with her own label. And has always been a gracious host on quite a few Magical Historical Tours. Just no offers for us!
@Mark_L@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid59 maybe one day WD can convince her again. I hear there a wine glut again…
The look around comment suggests there’s wine coming to meh also.
Here’s what Chat says " “Sweet sophistication in a bottle, this wine comes from a region known for its exceptional Sauvignon Blanc. With a golden hue and flavors of ripe tropical fruits and honey, it’s a dessert in a glass. What am I?”
@jmdavidson1
Not quite black tie but still sounds interesting. I am not allowed to buy any more wine right now unless WD throws up something really amazing.
@MarkDaSpark Been there, seen 'em. The original David is in a museum in Florence, but there’s a reproduction towering over a piazza, featuring his larger-than-lifesize… umm, slingshot!
But the Pietà, that’s not located in Firenze.
Speaking of which, it’s hard to believe they let that thing out of Italy for the '64-'65 World’s Fair here in NY. I need to read up on how that came about. It seems unthinkable today.
@CruelMelody@Winedavid49@Winedavid59
Ped could easily be another candidate, but for a Friday? Seems like they would have plenty of inventory for a 2-day, so probably not likely
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid59
The first thing that popped into my mind was Little Vineyards Band Blend. It’s been quite a long time since we’ve seen them, I think.
@MarkDaSpark@msten@Winedavid59
So, I’m sitting at my local Italian dive (at the bar), drinking this wine and suddenly I’m craving a tasty Italian sweet treat. From Sicily. Fruit-like. The name escapes me….
DAOU sold last December (been on CM)
Vine Cliff as well (who?)
And drum roll … Foppiano was sold in July to CMB (aka Martin Ray). AND they were known for PS!
@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid59 Although there’s a (highly allocated) Witness Wines in Oregon, this looks more like Witness Mark Wines for a Monday offer. And it is a cool label.
@karenhynes@MarkDaSpark@msten@Winedavid59
Nov of '18 and Dec of '21
I really thought there were more.
As an aside, you got me looking, it seems we’ve now had 1374 offers! and I passed on only 1052 of them.
@MarkDaSpark@msten@rjquillin@Winedavid59
Does that account for only the offers you purchased directly or does it include those that you, ya know, “mated” and weren’t the purchaser?
I dunno WD. You have @ilCesare up till rollover (east coast) each offer linking in CT for longer than I can remember. Then there is @Chipgreen and @Mark_L promoting those full case buys. Also @kaolis with all those ‘pro’ TNs that add to our vocabulary.
Seems like it takes all of us here, and there, to keep this going. Oh, and the she-being living in your head for clue decoding; @karenhynes…
[edit] and last, due to an omission, we have, per offer, @MarkDaSpark pestering for clues.
@Mark_L@rjquillin
Oh hush now. I was having difficulty posting anywhere…not related to the Irish whisky. I must have, in frustration, landed in the wrong spot. Perhaps my good friend Ron can move it??
Actually the pub would have been a good place for this; a forgotten thread, but it did evolve.
I blame it all on WDxx this time, not Bueller.
Yes, I could copy it there and delete it here, but it would then appear as posted by me, as I cannot impersonate. Could anyone impersonate Karen, really?
lmk
@karenhynes@Mark_L@rjquillin I vote for leaving it here, it does no harm. This whole thread exists mostly for our own nerdly entertainment, who’s to criticize a small, amusing detour?
@InFrom@Mark_L@rjquillin .
I moved it over to the monthly drinking report thread…and had a shot or so of Jack Daniels to cap off the evening…and a taste of a Nebbiolo from Mexico? It’s been an interesting evening…
Winemaker Randall Watkins of Laurel Glen Vineyards?
Or Randall Lange of Ivory & Burt (also LangeTwins)?
Or Randall Graham, inspiration for Pacific Rim Wines?
Or RandyZin from Harvest Moon?
@klezman@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid59 Bonny Doon??? I don’t recall if it’s been offered here but I recall a couple of listings on RWS and many back on the old site
@CruelMelody@MarkDaSpark@Winedavid59
Or Canoe Ridge, although that and Huntsman are Precept wines. Gruet is a Precept wine and it was recently offered, so…?
clue?
i love this california winery venue. but some folks have described this architecture as a spanish style revetment (remind me to tell you the winefarm revetment story).
@MarkDaSpark crap, i could have sworned i already gave a clue before going to a neighbor’s gathering… my bad.
we run these guys alot lately, cause the QPR is off the charts. the last name is not as popular as it sounds in terms of famous people. canadian public figure, psychiatrist? sorry if i’ve used this before. but really slim picken’s…
The clue should have been last year! The offer is this year!
@MarkDaSpark happy new year!!
@Winedavid49
Happy New Year!

@chipgreen @jasisk @rjquillin @Winedavid49 love the bubbly. Not the pink. Oh well - not like I need more wine, especially after berserker day.
@jasisk @klezman @rjquillin @Winedavid49
Yeah, not the Rose I was hoping for.
I’d be tickled pink by a Jana offer & better if mixed with her Sav Blanc. I think my wallet just shook!

@Mark_L @Winedavid49
You forgot Marvelous Wines!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 My language was quite precise: the word “Among” is the key!
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Well, that was the only one you didn’t name!
Happy Friday.
this winery is located in a house in Veneto with historical significance.
@Winedavid49 Quite a few choices. Villa Santa Sofia fits.

good evening. raining like the dickens here. which is also the location of our next offer.
Amazing Pinot’s, first time offerred, post Walt.
@Winedavid49
If not Schug as @msten said, maybe
Foursight Wines (Charles Vineyard)
Or
Papapietro-Perry Winery (Charles Vineyard)
Or even
WALT wines?
@MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid49 Unless it’s a Roessler offer, since they sold the brand to WALT. He’s got a new(er) label.
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Roessler Pinot never disappoints. Have purchased directly post WW days.
@klezman @msten @Winedavid49
Great call!
So the “dickens” was general (Anderson Valley) and not pacific (sorry klez and @ddeuddeg, couldn’t resist)!
Schug comes to mind, but we’ve seen a couple times in the last year.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark hah, winedavid59 does work…
this parent company winery has become very much a goto for daily drinkers fighting above it’s weight. this brand is splendid with amplitude…
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49

Something from the Macmurray ranch winery?
@msten @winedavid49

@Winedavid49 Bungalow? Ahem!

@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Darn it! By 1 minute!
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark happy sweet 16 night!
this is likely the highest priced offer on this consistent casemates partner, and likely the best discount. just sayin’, don’t shoot me.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I’ll bite - Iron Horse or WineSmith?
Messenger? (Don’t shoot the)
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Clue? stay with me on this one.
the opening song of the final episode of Breaking Bad. The town in the title of that song.
@Winedavid49
El Paso Winery in Hudson Valley (NY)??
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
The Pass Wines
Or
Pass Wines?
Paso Point Syrah
@danandlisa
Might as well go with
Miner or Barrel Burner then
(Miner as in mining drugs and Barrel Burner as in burning in finale.)
@MarkDaSpark They posted it on their FB page as the wine they were selling today. Whoops. If it is not tonight, it will be soon.
@danandlisa
Cheater! /s
Appears to be brand new on Casemates. Great job, Way to keep track!
I blame WD!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 David, the next wine is up on Facebook. If the autopost feature is engaged, it needs to be fixed. Lisa
@danandlisa @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
It looks pretty!
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 It does.
@danandlisa @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I’m still interested in the clue.
@winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavd49 My guess, according to FB, 2018 Tayson Pierce Rothchild Rosé.
@danandlisa @MarkDaSpark Spoilsport
@danandlisa @davirom @MarkDaSpark i get the night off! it’s our anniversary. i’ll take it!!
@davirom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Happy Anniversary!!
@Winedavid49
Happy Anniversary!
@Winedavid49
Happy anniversary!
@Winedavid49
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark
Boka is great!
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark Here’s a sharper pic of the menu.
@karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark damn that sounds amazing.
@karenhynes @Mark_L
Nice rings! Theirs or yours?
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark Theirs, from a “sneak peek” of some of the photographers’ work.
good evening.
Clue?
Back by popular demand. this fan favorite wine always hits the QPR target!
@Winedavid49
Slingshot?
Edit: Was just getting ready to ask!
Well, we had an Offer spill the beans early, and then an obvious clue … time for an Obscure Clue from @Winedavid49?
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark getting pulled tonight.
Our first one of these in a while. Aka Syrah mate!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Sounds like an Aussie Shiraz.
Farmer’s Leap? Anderson Hill? Shingleback?
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 outstanding. You are the GOAT.
Maybe syrahs from those 3 Washington wineries. Canoe ridge and what not
@CruelMelody
I first read that as Wellington winery
@CruelMelody Possible but unlikely. The “mates” indicates Down Under
@CruelMelody @rjquillin
2nd thought was a “mate” of Syrah, i.e., Grenache or Mourvedre (as from GSM blend). But Zin?
I had seen Messenger, but they were Napa/Sonoma sourced. Not from Australia (forgot they were a husband/wife team that had worked there). Doh!
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark a recent “goto” winery with a penchant for QPR. Don’t ask Y.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Y Rousseau?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? a small estate. just across the famous Dordogne river from the Saint Emilion appellation boundary.
@Winedavid49
Château Haut Jonset
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Or Château Penin - Vignobles Carteyron or Château Bozelle.
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Or Château Saint Barbe?
Or possibly Marquis de Bellefont or Château de Candale
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Yeah, 4x.
@chipgreen
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark howdy.
killer offer coming up. makes we want to say Booh ya in the Sahara !
@Winedavid49
Showing my age … Sahara makes me think of “Midnight at the Oasis”.
Midnight Cellars?
Or a dessert wine? Scott Harvey’s new Forté…
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Here’s a totally wacky guess (because the clue sent me down a twisted rabbit hole)…Boya Chilean?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Not that bad … the Atacama desert is in Chile.
We’ve had:
Elqui Wines
and
Altue from Cremaschi Furlotti Winery
Edit: And that’s my limit of 4!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
If you get 4, I’ll take 2. Another slightly rabbit hole guess…Meeker.
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 I’m clueless!
@karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark second clue. Breeze.
@karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
haven’t we seen Desert Wind?
@karenhynes @Mark_L @rjquillin @Winedavid49
Great Call!
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
clue? import. loosely translated. the bubble!
@Winedavid49

/youtube dTha7wTYxpg
@Winedavid49 @msten
But seriously …
Blancjat Glera Frizzante Prosecco “Sur Lie”
or
Sôttal Frisante Rosé Sparkling Wine
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
La bulle. Could be interesting.
@msten

@CruelMelody @Winedavid49

@CruelMelody @Winedavid49
You forget it’s either obscure or obvious …
Evening. hey, what do you know. another & in the mix!
giddyup!
@Winedavid49 A wild guess: Horse & Plow?
@Mark_L @Winedavid49 good guess. I like it
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? plenty of time for mother’s day delivery. first all pink offer if i recall. i’ll toast to that!
@Winedavid49
Tickle Me Pink and Rosé from Jana & Scott Harvey?
BTW, Gruet Mixed Rosé Sparkling offer on Mon, Apr 24th 2023 was all pink. So Gruet possibly?
@Winedavid49
Ooh, ooh, July of 2018 had Oregon and Washington Rosé
Browne, Waterbrook, & Primarius
So a repeat or similar?
Edit (6:43 PDT): Or an All Browne Family offer of Sparkling & Still Rosé?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 The “toast” clue suggests bubbles.
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
I was hoping Jana & Scott had a Sparkling Rosé, but doesn’t look like it since their sparkling is white. But I did mention the Sparkling in the other three guesses!
Meadowcroft sparkling rose maybe
@CruelMelody maybe iron horse for a Friday offer
@CruelMelody @Winedavid49
Possibly.
Sounds like all pink sparkling though …
Mixed Sparkling Rosé from Portugal?
@CruelMelody @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 iron horse Brut Rose might defeat my buying moratorium.
@CruelMelody @klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Yeah according to CT you have been on a moratorium for a whole 12 days lol.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49

one of the key figures in the Languedoc wine revolution. their daughter, named after this wine, i bet would agree.
@Winedavid49
Domaine Comte Abbatucci’s VIN DE FRANCE ROUGE “FAUSTINE”
@Winedavid49
Nevermind, that wine is named after the daughter, not the other way.
@Winedavid49
Mor cluz pls!
@Winedavid49
Château la Sauvageonne?
Daumas Gassac?
Edit: “La Sauvageonne is a daughter of fire, in the image of the dreams of the former owner”
@Winedavid49
Um, it WAS the other way around!
@MarkDaSpark oh shit. Bah!
@MarkDaSpark. I see what I did there.
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark good evening. no big elaborate presentation for a clue this go around.
@Winedavid49
Wait … in normal Earth or Bizarro Earth?
@Winedavid49
Bizarro … Grandeur Wines
Normal … Obvious Wines
Missed seeing Dog & Pony!!
@MarkDaSpark fwiw, i thought it was a good clue. even a blind squirrel.
@Winedavid49
It was a great clue!
A Dog & Pony show isn’t supposed to be big or elaborate.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark i may be a minority, but i never get tired of this person’s approach, and i particularly never get tired of his wines.
@Winedavid49
Tercero?
Zeppelin (Stillman)?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 winesmith
@CruelMelody @Winedavid49
Winesmith is way popular.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 ha so are most of the ones that come back I assume. I think there was mixed reviews on his last offering
@CruelMelody @MarkDaSpark wine smith is still in the penalty box. Maybe summer.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark. This deal ushers in , how do you say spring in Italian (errr Geyserville?)
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Prima Materia?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Unless another Pedroncelli is coming.
happy sunday.
another great white offer from this go to winery. clue? the kind of snake you want on your farm.
@Winedavid49

@Winedavid49 Glaetzer Wallace shiraz?
@Winedavid49
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? 8 generations? oui oui !
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 8th Generation Vineyard seems too obvious.
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Laurent Miquel Winery
The “Oui! Oui!” is part of the clue.
@winedavid49
so glad to have my neighbor back in the flow. our first white i believe and no not a magnum (yet).
@Winedavid49
Schug?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
Must be, no whites from them yet, and I don’t think Ty has whites this year.
@karenhynes @Winedavid49
@WineDavid49
@MarkDaSpark good evening. it’s not what the label states, BUT the QPR on this “classic’” is off the charts. lowest price by far (and yes this has been offered here before).
@Winedavid49
Prohibido?
Cult?
Stoke’s Ghost?
Too many to choose!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Could also be a Pedroncelli Sonoma Classico
We last saw the '20 and the '21 is released with the new label.
@Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark with due respect to Iron Horse (and some others i may add later) this is the best deal the the best Chardonnay maybe ever. i am adament, ardent and eager!
@Winedavid49 Bite your tongue!
Iron Horse Rules!
Effort aka Center of Effort?
St Huberts The Stag?
@MarkDaSpark good call. This is the first some we’ve offered this chard. Hiway 12 deserves a shout out- historically.
FYI , I’m very clear in my convictions.
@Winedavid49 @CruelMelody
Kunde? (Although they had a Chard on Jun 1, 2018)
Chateau St. Jean ?
Thinking actual Highway 12, not the winery.
@Winedavid49
You got some 'splaining to do!
So, a Napa winery and founder was Keenan.
Isn’t Highway 12 in Sonoma?
/giphy head-scratch
@MarkDaSpark “keen” in Keenan.
@Winedavid49
Ok, that’s excellent. But the Hiway 12?
@MarkDaSpark I indicated I’d add other fav chards.
Barefoot
@CruelMelody That would be freighting.
@WineDavid49
@MarkDaSpark love this Keenan offer. but we have a big one coming up. though it is a conundrum. but you’ve seen it once before.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Big?..conundrum???
Mystery Magnums??
@karenhynes @Winedavid59
That was one I thought possible.
Stolen Identity? Only up once I think.
And now I have to change most of my Casemates memes to 59!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
But, but, but…he’s NOT 59 yet!!!
Is he???
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 well done
Rack and Riddle?
@Winedavid59 @Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark 50? Does he claim all the 2 digit numbers?
@davirom @MarkDaSpark good evening. tough act to follow tonight. but i feel good about this one, i knew that i would.
@davirom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 We going back to Browne Family?
@davirom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Did you have a Premonition?
@davirom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Nice clue.
@davirom @MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59
So who will be doing clues in the near term?
Peter filling in again?
@davirom @MarkDaSpark @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid59 is wd going on vacation?
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark hi all, another solid showing from this consistently great QPR source. i bet if we could ship to Canada, this right leaning (i think) thought provoking personality would approve.
@Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Peterson Winery!
Good thing I checked to see if I needed another reminder!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 ha his PhD thesis is ironically called Potential Psychological Markers for the Predisposition to Alcoholism
@CruelMelody @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 this is all quite confusing!
@klezman
What’s confusing?
@klezman @MarkDaSpark I was also confused, until I googled the above-mentioned PhD thesis title.
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark Amico Blanco !!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Pedroncelli Friends White
@jmdavidson1 @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Yes! I was typing same & this popped up!
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
I’m the guest clue giver this week. Is it too soon. What time do the clues come out?
@WCCWineGirl
Normally around 5pm. So you’re late by almost an hour.
See above posts!
@WCCWineGirl could have been hours ago…
Now would be good.
Have fun
Name of the wine hails from Irish Gaelic word to mean “light” or “brightness .” But oddly enough but the wine hails from France.
@WCCWineGirl
Solas Laurent Miquel?
@WCCWineGirl is it a sweet wine per chance?
@karenhynes Karen, you’re amazing! ding ding ding
@karenhynes @WCCWineGirl
Yeah, many of us are trying to find the wire to WD’s brain she seems to have.
@WCCWineGirl you’re so sweet! I try…
@WCCWineGirl
Here we go… It’s a ____________ from another mother.
@WCCWineGirl
Brother for clue?
Scotto Cellars?
Durigutti?
Buoncristiani?
@WCCWineGirl Hilarious. My b-i-l always refers to me as his brother from another mother.
@WCCWineGirl The was a doozy of a clue. Lab Rat soon to be reporting for duty.
@jmdavidson1 @WCCWineGirl
Son of a … forgot about her wine! Doh!
@WCCWineGirl
@WCCWineGirl @Winedavid49
yes, it’s time…
Grab your spade and wait for it…
maybe buttery or oaky not sure
@WCCWineGirl
Barrel Burner Chardonnay?
@WCCWineGirl
Does Broken Earth have a Chardonnay?
@WCCWineGirl
Ooh, ooh!
Horse and Plow’s The Gardener Chardonnay?
Nailed it (ok it took 3, but 3rd times the charm!)
@WCCWineGirl, @Winedavid49
Frankly, my ____, I don’t give a damn if it’s another white.
@WCCWineGirl Do we have you gracing us with clues the rest of this week?
St Huberts The Stag Chardonnay?
Buck Shack?
Or did Scott Harvey find more of his Three Stags?
@MarkDaSpark yes, for this week. You’re so close
@WCCWineGirl
Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars?
@WCCWineGirl
Nice one! A brand new winery?
@WCCWineGirl
an enigma on a “G” varietal?
@WCCWineGirl
“An enigma” ???
More like “Enigmas” !!!
@MarkDaSpark @WCCWineGirl I dunno… Mystery G varietal wine works nicely.
@klezman @WCCWineGirl
Brown-noser!
“Selections” indicate multiple wineries, thus Enigmas. One winery indicates Enigma.
@MarkDaSpark @WCCWineGirl Don’t anger the clue-giver, sparky!
@klezman @WCCWineGirl
But I thought Canadians don’t get “angry”?
@MarkDaSpark @WCCWineGirl Who ever said that?
Miner Family The Enigma - Souzao/Tinta Cao/Grenache
would be too easy/obvious
We have Guest Clue Givers on board starting tonight. (you won’t be subject to my crazy clues for a while)
@WCCWineGirl Your clues were great! Just the last was iffy.
With WD, we never know if it’s obscure or obvious.
So, how many offers will we have guests? Through next Friday?
Clue? This weekend is bound to be fun! These varieties are obscure for some but are well known to the Rangers from Randall on down.
@klezman
Fossil Point!?
@klezman
While I wish it was Acquiesce, probably:
Tercero, Qupé, Andrew Murray, or Broken Earth
In terms of my probability of possibility (high to low).
Edit: I thought it might have been Randall of the Power Rangers Dino, thus the Fossil Point.
Then realized it was probably Rhône Rangers and Randall Graham.
@klezman A number of Tercero “coming soon” posts today
@MarkDaSpark maybe if we’re lucky and Sue is not we’ll see some Acquiesce because of the current wine glut. But I’m not holding my breath.
@klezman @MarkDaSpark
She has been running some specials the past month+ or so.
She has also been adding medals and ribbons, and selling out of some bottlings via the club.
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin always feel free to send me club offer and deal opportunities from her!
@WCCWineGirl
@WCCWineGirl
@MarkDaSpark That should be directed at the Guest Clue Giver, whomever that is.
@jmdavidson1 @MarkDaSpark I’n not sure if @GuestClueGiver is a valid username .
@jmdavidson1 @Mark_L
I directed it to @WCCWineGirl because she knows who the GuestClueGiver will be.
@MarkDaSpark And so the big reveal…klezman.
@jmdavidson1 @MarkDaSpark yes, bit that was my two and I’m done! No idea who’s next.
@WCCWineGirl
Is it allowable to throw a guess out before an official clue??
@sosptuba
Sure. But if you’re a labrat for it, you can always give a clue!
Clue! This urban Portland winery sure seems to prefer Washington grapes!
@klezman
Seven Bridges?
@karenhynes @klezman
Gersing Cellars
@WCCWineGirl
@WCCWineGirl
@MarkDaSpark @WCCWineGirl Not from me this time!
@MarkDaSpark WS? He dropped a video two days ago on yt.
@MarkDaSpark @sosptuba
I just saw an email from 4 hours ago asking me to give the clue tonight. Hang on while I try to come up with one…
@MarkDaSpark @sosptuba
It should be a real sweetheart of a deal!
@chipgreen @MarkDaSpark @sosptuba
Jana
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @sosptuba
You’re on the right track, kotku!
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @sosptuba
Might pair well with pierogies, honey!
@sosptuba
WD came in a while back and said WD wouldn’t be back for a while. I doubt it’s been long enough.
And I’d be stumped too on this one. I might’ve guessed a Mead!
@chipgreen @rjquillin @sosptuba
Thus, the “honey” reference.
Where is @karenhynes when you need her?
@chipgreen
She dozed off waiting for the clue(s)!
@karenhynes
I will be back on Thursday evening. Earlier this time because I know in advance.
@chipgreen @karenhynes
Aha!
@WCCWineGirl, @chipgreen
@chipgreen, @WCCWineGirl
@MarkDaSpark hahahahaha
Clue: if Ignacio Allende was alive today, this would probably be his house wine.
@chipgreen
@chipgreen
I want to say a Criolla Port?
Or
Marqués de Riscal Spanish Rioja?
@MarkDaSpark
I wish it was the Marques de Riscal. Those were really nice.
@chipgreen criollo grande
@chipgreen House of the Dragon wines?
@chipgreen
They changed the name of San Miguel el Grande to San Miguel Allende in his honor.
I’m on deck for the next two offers.
@karenhynes finally some barefoot. Rose of Grenache of course
@CruelMelody @karenhynes
Or Dog & Pony
@karenhynes Seems to be a rosé.
@davirom @karenhynes
Dog & Pony have a Rosé of Sangiovese & a Rosé of Pinot Noir.
Clue #2
You’ve been a friend to me
@karenhynes two old dogs
@CruelMelody @karenhynes
Ding ding ding!
@karenhynes, @WCCWineGirl
I may need to look up the blue book value on these babies!
@karenhynes
Red Car
Dusi Model M
Red Truck Winery?
@MarkDaSpark
Nope
Nope
Nope
@karenhynes
Brutocao Quadriga (“Quadriga, a “chariot carried by four horses”, is an ancient Italian symbol of triumph”)
@karenhynes
Grebennikoff Vineyards Fire Engine Red
Ryder Estate
@karenhynes Kelley Fox?
@MarkDaSpark
Your guesses are very colorful tonight!
While the wine(s) may be red, the answer I’m looking for is more blue and, perhaps, a bit green.
@InFrom there are no critters here.
@InFrom @karenhynes good riddle! Maybe if I had heard of this winery
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59, @WCCWineGirl
@Winedavid59, @Winedavid49 , @WCCWineGirl
A Sonoma County winery named for their Aunt from the end of the alphabet.
@WCCWineGirl
Zialena?
@WCCWineGirl @karenhynes
Zahtila
but why even try after Karen opines…
@karenhynes @rjquillin @WCCWineGirl
True!
And is WD still being lazy?
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin
I want Karen on my Trivia Team!
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @WCCWineGirl
Only if trivia event allows access to the Google.
@WCCWineGirl, @Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark hurry before Karen sees this.
tonight’s clue:
@WCCWineGirl
Mystery Bubbly?
From Gruet?
Or IH?
Or another Imported Wines Mystery Offer of Still & Sparkling?
@MarkDaSpark @WCCWineGirl I like that last guess. A mystery bubble offer.
@WCCWineGirl
How did it already get to be Friday!?
@WCCWineGirl
Early clue today cuz gotta go watch my kid:
okay back to the clue: you don’t have to go all the way to Vatican City for this blessing.
@WCCWineGirl
Browne Family
Davey & Browne
We need more cluez !
@WCCWineGirl a CdP? or Pope Valley Winery?
@davirom @WCCWineGirl I was also thinking CdP…
@WCCWineGirl, @Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
Is WD still being lazy?
Hmmmm. Does anyone have a horse to enter? Or a hat by the same name?
Happy Father’s Day!
@WCCWineGirl
Derby Wine Estates?
@WCCWineGirl Derby Wine Estates?
@karenhynes You must have edged me by less than a minute! Or, by a nose!
@Mark_L
Photo finish!
Let’s call it a tie!
@WCCWineGirl, @Winedavid49
Since WD just returned - I will give him a little more time to settle in. Hmmm, it’s hard not to make this one too _______________?
@WCCWineGirl obviously it’s obvious wines?
@klezman @WCCWineGirl thanks winegirl!
@WineDavid59, @WCCWineGirl
@MarkDaSpark @WCCwinegirl
well hello. thanks WCCwinegirl and others for filling in !
this house has one of the only, if not the only winery we’ve found whose figured out how to produce a tasty value priced pinto noir.
i think it helps they source from their (vast) estate, love me some vertical integration.
@WCCWineGirl @Winedavid59
Pinto Noir? Is that like a Pinot More?
Scheid Family Vineyards? Their Ẽquoia?
Keller Estate?
Schug?
@MarkDaSpark @WCCWineGirl oops. Pinot*

@MarkDaSpark @WCCWineGirl @Winedavid59
Anthill Farms North Coast Pinot (Pinto) Noir?
@WCCWineGirl @Winedavid59
So, no good guesses yet?
@MarkDaSpark @WCCWineGirl @Winedavid59
You got one right. Own a very large chunk of Central California.
@MarkDaSpark @WCCWineGirl @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
I would be shocked but it seems to fit… Castle Rock?
@MarkDaSpark @WCCWineGirl @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Ahh, I got the NV part of the clue but was not looking for a Rose.
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark Clue? these wines should be from “Down Under”. not Adler Springs.
@Winedavid59
Y. Rousseau
P.S. Typo? “Alder”??
@MarkDaSpark um, yes Alder*
@Winedavid59
Aargh! Should have thought of Quigley! Doh!
Good one!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Welcome back!
@Winedavid59
@Winedavid59
@Winedavid59, @Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark apologies. had a temporary dog mini emergency. all good now (not part of the clue).
this winery is located in the town of Luján de Cuyo.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Well, you could narrow it down a bit by saying if it starts with “Bodega” or not.
@Mark_L @Winedavid59
Martino Wines ( I believe they are in the town!)
Durigutti
Riccitelli
I’d include Bent Press, but they’re located in Sonoma.
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59

Warp and Weft?
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Well, that would be a unique name!
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Ah, I focused on the wrong part! Should have focused on the route, not the occupation!
Columbus was looking for India and its Spices!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
…and I was focusing on the Silk Road instead of the spices. So close!
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark clue? Father and Son in Languedoc.

Buzz light year would love this wine over the years.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 Beyond (South African)?
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
I want to say Infinity from Blue Sky Winery, but there in Illinois!
Another almost impossible would be Tablas Creek! They just posted about their new boxed wine … “To Infinity (bottling) and Beyond”!!!
Of course, it is WD after all … he does the impossible before Lunch!
https://tablascreek.typepad.com/tablas/2024/06/to-infinity-and-beyond-a-new-era-for-tablas-creek-wine-boxes.html
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
They’re
There is an Infinity Cellars in Sonoma!
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
And I would have sworn Robert Craig had an “Infinity” wine, but it was “Affinity”!!!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 There’s (theirs, they’re’s???) also NFINITY Cellars.
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Thus, the correction. “They are” in … thus “They’re”.
And you do realize that “There’s” is a contraction of “There is”, right?
And NFINITY Cellars is in LIVERMORE, not Napa!
I award you -10,000 points for grammar and 5,000 points for NFINITY …
Over the years… repeat sounds low a weapon maybe???
@Winedavid49
How about some St. Julian’s for Pew Pew (errrr…Paw Paw)?
@Winedavid49
Doh! Forgot about the Superhero label of Scott’s!
Sheesh! I thought for sure @Winedavid49 would have posted the clue by now!

Maker of this family winery.
@Winedavid49
Quigley Family Wines?
(Father and 2 sons)
Or …
Three Wine Men
(Label created by a well respected wine family in Sonoma, California. The name comes from the three men who crafted the wine; they are from the 3rd and 4th generations of the family.)
@Winedavid49 Three Sticks Winery is probably too obvious…
@Winedavid49 Maybe something by their former winemaker, Bob Cabral? Looks like he has (or had?) his own label, after leaving Three Sticks.
OK, fine, Bricoleur Vineyards it is.
@InFrom @Winedavid49
Cabral was William Selyem winemaker for many years I guess any of his wines would be very expensive!
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59

Retired. Streamer now.
First name hint: Not Brain and not Pinky.
Hello?
@MarkDaSpark you go !
@Winedavid49 Do they need more?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Murder by female Willy Wonka of not Al’s wife. Acquitted.
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
Get the nickname, you get the winery!
Just use the “-lizzie” with the 41 whacks!
@Mark_L @Winedavid49
It happened on a Friday the 13th!
Um, technically, it was “Al’s” wife!
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49
Those are some tough clues there. I love the eerieness of it all
Esports Championship player’s nickname. The Odd One
Brian Wyllie
Last Name hint: Modern Day Lizzie Borden 41 whacks town Wylie
HBO Special on Murder
Murder by female Willy Wonka of Al’s wife.

@karenhynes @Winedavid59
And didn’t WD use that as a clue before?
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
I did??
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
I could swear I saw it as a clue once, but maybe just in a Casemates writeup.

@Winedavid49 , @Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Funny, my wife was just telling me about the “no til” movement…
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Lots of possibilities out there. Let’s start with…Youngberg Hill?
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 I’ll guess Broken Earth
@Winedavid49 , @Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark Good evening. not sure if this is the last time we’ll be running this fantastic partner. if it is, that’d be pretty tangled.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 twisted oak?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 and if so, I hope we find out why you would say such terrible things!
@CruelMelody @Winedavid59
IIRC, El Jefe was retiring, so possibly new management?
@CruelMelody @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 wait, what? He’s retiring? Is Twisted Oak going to be no more? (Not like Jeff makes the wines, mind you…)
@Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark you may find this trinket in Coombsville.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 A lost toy?
@Mark_L @Winedavid59
Must be!
@Winedavid59
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark Calistoga? coombsville? Oak Knoll? who knows!!!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Some sort of mixed trio?
@Mark_L @Winedavid59
Merryvale?

@Winedavid59
Clue? Not a win or a loss, but it is moon mountain juice!!!
@Winedavid49 Must be a Ty!
@InFrom @Winedavid49
Could be! It has been a while I believe.
But
The Messenger Moon Mountain Zinfandel as well!
Or Harvest Moon, if WD is feeling Puckish!
@MarkDaSpark How are either of those related to the clue (neither win nor loss)? I don’t get the connection. (That’s not to say my guess is right, either.)
@InFrom Um, same as your guess of Ty … all are from Moon Mountain District or have “Moon” (Puck, a trickster).
@MarkDaSpark Aha! But don’t forget that first part of the clue. (Not a win or a loss – sounds like a tie!)
@InFrom True … but there’s only one Ty!
@Winedavid59
@Winedavid59

@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark hello!
clue? one does not have to be into fashion or Nicaraguan to love this wine.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Chateau Bianca Pinot Noir?
Or maybe, “NAPA by N.A.P.A. Bianca’s White Wine Blend”, that’s another one that’s been here before.
@InFrom @Winedavid59
Sorry, need to change it to read “He or She’s” got it!
@InFrom @Winedavid59
Well … I thought you had it! I guess to WD, Grenachista equals Fashionista?
Not sure where the Nicaraguan fits in though?
I guess both of us are dating our age, thinking of Bianca Jagger!
@MarkDaSpark
Here’s a quick edit (using IrfanView, my preferred image tool):
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 I like our idea better, but the answer must be fashionista + Grenada.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Or Granada, more accurately.
@InFrom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 it’s Sandinista, from Reagan’s Iran-Contra scandal. Ah, the 80’s. Good times.
@InFrom @merrybill @Winedavid59
How were the Sandinistas fashionable?
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark clue? for the label, if henry F. had used the 13 letter. and for the winery, the 10th letter is in it’s name.

@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark clue? it doesn’t take a freelance journalist to track down this offer.

@MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59
That was my first thought.
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59 What comes to my mind is Story Winery.
good evening. great olympics right?
clue?
a beaver would be impressed with this Warm Springs version.
@Winedavid59
One possibility …
Castoro Cellars (including Raywood Vineyards label)
Owners Niels Udsen nickname was the “Beaver”, which in Italian is “Il Castoro”.
I want to say Aldur Springs, but they are up now!
@Winedavid59
There’s a Warm Springs Ranch vineyard in Sonoma supplying to deLorimier, Matrix, & Mazzocco wineries.
@Winedavid59
We had a (Beaver) Cleaver Red Blend some time back…Renwood.
@Winedavid59 just because it’s the only “dam” wine I could find, Big Dam Cab from Browne
@CruelMelody @Winedavid59
What do beavers build?
@CruelMelody @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 @karenhynes

@MarkDaSpark
Congratulations!!!
@MarkDaSpark congratulations !!!
speaking of generations. Jacorossi is in the third.
@Winedavid59 Talosa Rosso Di Montepulciano has been around before.
@Winedavid59, @Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark Something for everyone tonight. look around! clue? may be the only woman wine maker on the Mount Rushmore of old site/casemates wine makers. with all due respect to Cathy (not enough at bats!).
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Could it possibly be a Cathy Corison???
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 But the “…all due respect…” makes it seem unlikely.
@Mark_L @Winedavid59
Laura Michael (neè Zahtila)!
I would have said Joy of Iron Horse, but she wasn’t/isn’t the winemaker.
@Mark_L @Winedavid59
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 maybe one day WD can convince her again. I hear there a wine glut again…
The look around comment suggests there’s wine coming to meh also.
@Winedavid59, @Winedavid49
Omgosh, I’m tasked with tonight’s clue. dang give me a sec
I’m trying to see what chatgpt will come up with
Here’s what Chat says " “Sweet sophistication in a bottle, this wine comes from a region known for its exceptional Sauvignon Blanc. With a golden hue and flavors of ripe tropical fruits and honey, it’s a dessert in a glass. What am I?”
emphasis on Sweet & Region and a favorite winery here on CM. And this is a big part of the wine Botrytis cinerea
anyone? Bueller?
@WCCWineGirl
Chateau de Suronde Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru Chenin
Not quite - think kangaroos
@WCCWineGirl wairu river reisling
@CruelMelody @WCCWineGirl
Except have they been on CM?
Thinking of …
Art+Farm Wine
Or
Onesta Wines
They have Australian roots (either internships or a spouse).
@CruelMelody @MarkDaSpark first part of the winery name is dutch oddly enough
@CruelMelody @WCCWineGirl
Um, while Mulderbosch is in the Southern Hemisphere, South AFRICA doesn’t have kangaroos!
Western Cape, South Africa =/= Australia
@CruelMelody @MarkDaSpark I need to retake geography class. lol
Although not from a typical gambling state, you can BET that this gorgeous white will be the odds. Happy Weekend Casematers. Cheers
@WCCWineGirl be the odds? beat the odds? With a beer emoji? Nevertheless, could it be Gambler’s Ghost?
@davirom @WCCWineGirl
Or maybe a Casino Mine Ranch offer? They’ve been on CM before.

@MarkDaSpark clue? huh, i thought the hills of lake county were high high.
@Winedavid59
Shannon Ridge?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 That and Red Hills were the better Google guesses that I found.
@Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 searches for THC infused wine
@CruelMelody @Mark_L @Winedavid59
Aha! Shooting Star!
Edit: Which evidently is a label of Shannon Ridge
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
that was funny
good evening.
clue?

@Winedavid59 Buck shack?
@Winedavid59
Deerfield Ranch?
@Winedavid59 @karenhynes Hoping for a black tie from them.
@jmdavidson1
Not quite black tie but still sounds interesting. I am not allowed to buy any more wine right now unless WD throws up something really amazing.
@karenhynes Me, too. When the fall shipments start coming in, the xxit will hit the fan.
happy Friday!
i’m not saying you are going to admire or adore this wine, but i bet you’d like it and it is a great deal.
@Winedavid59

@Winedavid59
Reverie Wines?
@Winedavid59 So close!
I almost had it!
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59, @WCCWineGirl
Happy Labor Day!
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59, @WCCWineGirl
@MarkDaSpark good evening. they say 1202 was a very good year.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 I googled MCCII winery, to no avail.
@InFrom @Winedavid59
Doh! Forgot to Google 1202 in Casemates!
Regular Google gave me Seige of Zara and founding of Real Monasterio de Nuestra Senora de Rueda. But didn’t find a likely result using Zara or Rueda.
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark good evening. saw a depiction of this while visiting Florence this summer.
@Winedavid59
Campo Pietra ? (La Pietà di Michelangelo)
@MarkDaSpark Wrong city!
@InFrom Well, that’s what I get for using “Artworks / Florence” …
They’re known for Michaelangelo’s David and various Venus depictions, including Botticelli’s and Donatello’s.
It seems unthinkable today.
clue? it’s time to give some love to the forums “one of our own”.
@Winedavid59 winesmiths return?
@CruelMelody @Winedavid59
El Jefe has been trying to reduce inventory as well
@CruelMelody @Winedavid59 Clark’s been in a timeout, could be.
@CruelMelody @rjquillin @Winedavid59
El Jeffe and I are chatting. I assure you.
@CruelMelody @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Ped could easily be another candidate, but for a Friday? Seems like they would have plenty of inventory for a 2-day, so probably not likely
@CruelMelody @rjquillin @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 Hope you’re working on a Woot Cellars label with him for some of his stuff in barrel!
As for tonight, I think it’s Larry’s turn. Who else is one of us on the forum??
@CruelMelody @klezman @rjquillin @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 Good point. And he’s been chatting.
Clue? Ty’s neighbor.

@Winedavid59
Brick Barn?
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
@Winedavid49, @Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark clue?
what an amazing dinner we had in their garden many moons ago.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 I recall an amazing rpm tour with a dinner in the garden at Iron Horse, along with some great chards and pinots.
@Winedavid59
Was there ever a dinner at Randy’s?
(Harvest Moon)
@kawichris650 @Winedavid59
Not during the RPM Tours I was on. But I missed the 2010, and there was the newbie tour. So it is possible …
@kawichris650 @Winedavid59
WD did say “their garden” … do they have a garden there?
Does WD consider a Vineyard a garden? We also had some great dinners in Scott’s vineyard in St. Helena.
I’m also remembering something about Kunde and eating on their mountain top area.
But I still think it’s Iron Horse, like you said.
I recall an amazing rpm tour with a meal in the garden at Iron Horse, along with some great chards and pinots.
@jmdavidson1
There were at least 2, if not 3, great meals there!
@Winedavid59, @Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark whoa, and the hits keep on coming. i think even Ed would agree the show must go on!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Sounds like Pedroncelli?
@Winedavid59, @Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark and another! Turn up the volume for this offer!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
The first thing that popped into my mind was Little Vineyards Band Blend. It’s been quite a long time since we’ve seen them, I think.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Andrew Murray e11even.
@karenhynes @Winedavid59 @msten
“Remix” instead of “Band Blend” … hmmmm.
good evening. how great is Andrew Murray?!?

@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Gard?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
This will be fun for Rat Reports and highlights…
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Agree with Karen. Gard is Scandinavian for farm.
@jmdavidson1 @Mark_L @Winedavid59 @karenhynes @msten @rjquillin
I’m thinking a combo offer from some of those mentioned above (Leoni & Gärd) plus Art+Farm Wine!
@karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid59 As usual, Karen is on target. Good call.
@jmdavidson1 @karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid59 rockstar

@kawichris650 @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Or River of Skulls?
@kawichris650 @Mark_L @Winedavid59
Probably that one!

@msten @Winedavid59
Or Gård Vintners!
@MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59
Wasn’t Gard just here last week? Seems too soon.
I’m with @msten with de-licious, de-lightful De-Lille.
Good evening. i think this region is a first. you knew we’d get there, inch by inch, step by step…
@Winedavid59
John Howard Cellars of Distinction - Niagara Wineries
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Oh my, that’s very good. He must be Moe and Curly’s favorite nephew.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Oh, a nice Niagara Riesling would be lovely.
@InFrom @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Niagara icewine??
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 You got your wish!
Niagara Falls 3 Stooges Cabernet Sauvignon
@markdaspark must be a dodger fan!

Healdsburg vines - Italian heritage.
@Winedavid59
No guesses from me tonight.
@karenhynes @Winedavid59
Peterson Tollini Vineyard wines?
More Angels than Dodgers. But now Angels/Rangers/Dodgers!!
@Winedavid59 (Ed) Seghesio Vineyards
@msten @Winedavid59
I would LOVE to see Seghesio here!
I don’t recall any offers from them but I my memory ain’t what it used to be!
@karenhynes @msten @Winedavid59
No offers here, but on the old site, IIRC. We visited them on the 1st Magical Historical Tour in 2008.
Ferrari-Carano?
@karenhynes @msten @Winedavid59
Pedroncelli? They’re in Geyserville, but might get grapes from a nearby vineyard.
Since we don’t have a “Like” from WD or Karen ( ) on any guesses, can we …
@MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59
So, I’m sitting at my local Italian dive (at the bar), drinking this wine and suddenly I’m craving a tasty Italian sweet treat. From Sicily. Fruit-like. The name escapes me….
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59 Donning my Carnac turban: is Martorano the word you’re looking for?
@InFrom @MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59
Close enough…
@InFrom @karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59
…only if it was in a white envelope
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59 Oh, wrong ending. Martorana.
Happy Columbus Day Weekend!
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark LOL. good one!
clue? very interesting offer to say the least.
Areni.
@Winedavid59
ÆRENA Wines?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Something from the Storica portfolio?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Or an Armenian import?
@MarkDaSpark happy original Canadian Thanksgiving
@WineDavid59
@MarkDaSpark getting creative!
clue?
it ain’t PS, but i bet you’ll love the offer from this historic (and recently sold) winery.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Sounds like another TO offer to me…
Spaniard, hopefully, in the mix if it’s another one.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
I believe David Fulton Winery sold a few years back. I believe they are/were quite well known for their PS.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Or Madrigal!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Tera D’Oro??? - founded in 1970 so I’m not sure if that’s considered historic or not??
@karenhynes @Winedavid59 @rjquillin @sosptuba
Well, if not any of those …
DAOU sold last December (been on CM)
Vine Cliff as well (who?)
And drum roll … Foppiano was sold in July to CMB (aka Martin Ray). AND they were known for PS!
@MarkDaSpark
Interesting that Fappiono (Zinfandel) was recently on a RWS “Insider Deal”.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Ah, initially missed the “recently sold”, that sadly does rule out TO.
@MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid59
Wasn’t this one on an RPM tour??
@MarkDaSpark Foppiano!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Foppiano ?
Absolutely!
@MarkDaSpark @ Mark_L @rjquillin @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 @sosptuba
Apparently, there have been quite a few wineries sold “recently”.
@karenhynes @rjquillin @sosptuba @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
It was the 2014 tour, and the 1st stop!
@karenhynes @rjquillin @sosptuba @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Interesting reading the Field Notes and aftermath. We had TWO engagements that tour!
@klezman & @molarchae
and
@time2testit & @redhead11
2014 RPM MMT Field Notes
@karenhynes @klezman @MarkDaSpark @molarchae @redhead11 @sosptuba @time2testit @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
we visited on the '12 tour as well
@karenhynes @klezman @molarchae @redhead11 @rjquillin @sosptuba @time2testit @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
On the Newbie tour only, IIRC. The Veteran tour didn’t go … wah!
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark clue? hmmm… how about
subterranean gambling
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 is there an underground casino winery?
@klezman @Winedavid59
Maybe? But there is a Casino Mine Ranch Vineyard !!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Did we talk about this today?
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark happy Friday!
clue? well, it’s where i get my gas near my home. i’m having trouble thinking of another clue.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Bonneau Winery
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 and I have no idea where you live.
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark good evening. clue? it’s a really cool label, as god is my…
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 There is a Witness Wines in Willamette Valley, or Witness Tree Vineyard in Salem, OR,
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Although there’s a (highly allocated) Witness Wines in Oregon, this looks more like Witness Mark Wines for a Monday offer. And it is a cool label.
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark howdy. how about that world series match up!
clue? another great QPR SLO coast wine.
@Winedavid59
Qupé ??? They make the Dodgers wine.
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark well, historically this activity (close enough on spelling) has been one of my main excuses for being late on giving clues…
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Hoopes Vineyard?
@karenhynes @Winedavid59
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Hoopes Vineyard would be nice. Beyond a black tie, more like tails and top hat.
@MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59
True, but they have been here (twice) before.
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @msten @Winedavid59
Nov of '18 and Dec of '21
I really thought there were more.
As an aside, you got me looking, it seems we’ve now had 1374 offers! and I passed on only 1052 of them.
@MarkDaSpark @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid59
LOL!!!
@karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid59 Such restraint!
@MarkDaSpark @msten @rjquillin @Winedavid59
Does that account for only the offers you purchased directly or does it include those that you, ya know, “mated” and weren’t the purchaser?
@karenhynes @Winedavid59
Only the ones I directly paid for; there are additional splits…
@rjquillin @Winedavid59
Probably best not to think about that total.
@karenhynes @rjquillin @Winedavid59
I don’t know what we would quite do without rjquillin
@karenhynes @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
@chipgreen @ilCesare @kaolis @karenhynes @Mark_L @rjquillin @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Guess I’m Chopped Liver then?!?
125 plus casemates orders plus begging for clues …
@chipgreen @ilCesare @kaolis @karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49
if we didn’t have Sparky, we wouldn’t have clues! i’d forget ! a bunch of “Rushmore’s” included in this thread!!
funny, i’m struggling with a clue for tonight. if anyone wants to whisper me to give me hand, i won’t turn it down!!!
@chipgreen @ilCesare @kaolis @karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Oh, that’s absolutely a me-bad BC (before coffee) foo pah this morning.
@chipgreen @ilCesare @kaolis @karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 Is a foo pah a Chinese faux pas?
@chipgreen @ilCesare @kaolis @karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @rjquillin @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 And in defense of Ron, he did state:
@chipgreen @ilCesare @kaolis @karenhynes @Mark_L @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Irish, actually
clue? thanks for the assist @Mark_L !!!
Irish (or english) prawn.
@Winedavid59 @winedavid49 @chipgreen @rjquillin @Mark_L Who is winedavid59? did 49 go underground?
@Winedavid59
A Calvados from Cherbourg.
@chipgreen @kaolis @Mark_L @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
He aged out of eligibility
@chipgreen @kaolis @Mark_L @rjquillin @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
HE IS NOT 59!!!
(We are the same age, I think)
@chipgreen @kaolis @Mark_L @rjquillin @Winedavid59 less fibbing.
@chipgreen @kaolis @rjquillin @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 I respectfully recuse myself from guessing.
…and a shot of two of Irish whisky…so I’m gonna let Ron come fix that sideways bottle.
@karenhynes pshaw, it would have looked just fine after another couple of shots
@rjquillin LOL!
@karenhynes @rjquillin Is this the What Are You Drinking or the About Time for a Clue thread? Or perhaps if you drink enough it will work for either?
@Mark_L @rjquillin
Oh hush now. I was having difficulty posting anywhere…not related to the Irish whisky. I must have, in frustration, landed in the wrong spot. Perhaps my good friend Ron can move it??
@karenhynes @Mark_L @WineDavid
Actually the pub would have been a good place for this; a forgotten thread, but it did evolve.
I blame it all on WDxx this time, not Bueller.
Yes, I could copy it there and delete it here, but it would then appear as posted by me, as I cannot impersonate. Could anyone impersonate Karen, really?
lmk
@karenhynes @Mark_L @rjquillin I vote for leaving it here, it does no harm. This whole thread exists mostly for our own nerdly entertainment, who’s to criticize a small, amusing detour?
@InFrom @Mark_L @rjquillin .
I moved it over to the monthly drinking report thread…and had a shot or so of Jack Daniels to cap off the evening…and a taste of a Nebbiolo from Mexico? It’s been an interesting evening…
@Winedavid59
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark yes, it’s now time to say it “get’s there in time for the Thanksgiving table”.
and hey, this is our goto in this particular category.
time to celebrate!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 onesta!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
You’re not using the proper bait
clue?
use to be used for housing Arabian horses.
@Winedavid59
Brick Barn or Klinker Brick?
@rjquillin @Winedavid59 yep.
@msten @rjquillin @Winedavid59
There is a Pavilion Crossing Winery … North Coast wines.
@Winedavid59
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark sorry, tennis this time.
clue?
we are not normally a repeat house, but the varietal ultra premium crafted in a long time partner’s capable hands? down right effervescent.
in time to spruce up the Thanksgiving Day table.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 I’ll guess gruet since I didn’t earlier
@CruelMelody @Winedavid59 @sosptuba @PetiteSirah @karenhynes
How no one said Iron Horse earlier from WD’s clue before PS’s post is beyond me! (And Karen’s post!)
Effervescent = Sparkling = Iron Horse
Ultra Premium Varietal = Iron Horse
Long time partner = Joy = Iron Horse
@CruelMelody @karenhynes @MarkDaSpark @PetiteSirah @sosptuba @Winedavid59 I was going to guess maybe a calendars premier for the Pedroncelli bubbly but sounds like iron horse!
Any chance it’s the winesmith library reincarnation offer that just dropped on YouTube a few hours ago???
@sosptuba selling wine on YouTube??
It’s yummy.
drinks more
You want a clue?
Here’s your clue – fuck the Dodgers.
(It’s very obscure and roundabout, but there is a connection)
@PetiteSirah Haven’t seen you around these parts lately, Stranger!
@MarkDaSpark I’ve been ratted a few times in the past year, and I’ve followed through.
@PetiteSirah I meant here in the Clue section!
@MarkDaSpark @winedavid39 was unburdened by what has been, or something
@PetiteSirah
/giphy roflmao
Mmmmmmm this is some good shit.
The old-time wine.woot crew will recall this producer with Joy.
@PetiteSirah
Haha! Iron Horse?!?!?!
Lou Gehrig was nicknamed “the Iron Horse”.
@karenhynes @PetiteSirah
Too bad the Yankees got crushed!
@karenhynes @ScottW58 it’s a shonda and bad for America.
@Winedavid59
Good to see our coastal CA value brand go to has some range. estate grown, Monterey. OK!
@Winedavid59 More Scheid!
@klezman @Winedavid59
Also District 7 and Craftwork.
Although Reflection Ridge & Metz Road have 12 & 11 estate vineyards!
Clue?
in Randall we trust.
@Winedavid59
But which Randall?
Winemaker Randall Watkins of Laurel Glen Vineyards?
Or Randall Lange of Ivory & Burt (also LangeTwins)?
Or Randall Graham, inspiration for Pacific Rim Wines?
Or RandyZin from Harvest Moon?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Perhaps Language of Yes is making an appearance?
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Bonny Doon??? I don’t recall if it’s been offered here but I recall a couple of listings on RWS and many back on the old site
@klezman @MarkDaSpark @sosptuba @Winedavid59 We’ve had the Rose (Vin Gris de Cigare). Can’t remember though whether that was on here, or WW.
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark thanks for the nudge MarkDaSpark!
it’s been a minute since we’ve had these folks on. historically our goto Washington Cabernet QPR.
so glad to have them back!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 huntsman? Trying to go from memory
@CruelMelody @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Or Canoe Ridge, although that and Huntsman are Precept wines. Gruet is a Precept wine and it was recently offered, so…?
@chipgreen @CruelMelody @Winedavid59
@chipgreen @CruelMelody @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
Clue number 2: Pepper
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark clue? desert crazy (but in a good way) never alot of cases, but always crazy good!
@Winedavid59
Desert Wind?
Or Laura Michael’s Laura’s Theme dessert wine?
Or Gruet?
@Winedavid59
Or Virage?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
This time with labels?
@Winedavid59
Dang it! My first thought WAS Stillman, but the “desert” part threw me off!
good evening. clue?
goes well with(and near) a Ghirardelli sundae.
@Winedavid59 it’s not close (Amador) but that Used Automobile Parts dessert sold by Don Sebastiani and sons on the old site in 2015 was fabulous
@sosptuba @Winedavid59 OMG
@sosptuba @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 yeah that was a great find
Laura’s Theme dessert wine would be a great pairing. So would a Pedroncelli 4 grapes vintage port.
@jmdavidson1
and I think I recall Ghirardelli shipping with some Ped offers
@rjquillin Either of my guesses would be delicious. I recall those cupcakes we had at Pedroncelli on an rpm tour. Divine.
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark Clue?
i mean Ed or no Ed, am i right? (with all due respect to Ed).
@Winedavid59
Pedroncelli!
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
But, but… without Ed, it’s just Proncelli!
@chipgreen @MarkDaSpark Classic! i’ll forward to Ed.
@chipgreen @MarkDaSpark
clue?
i love this california winery venue. but some folks have described this architecture as a spanish style revetment (remind me to tell you the winefarm revetment story).
@Winedavid59
Artesa?
@Winedavid59
@MarkDaSpark clue? hmmm…
it’s what a Bowie character may drank in mid evil times.
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
licks lips
dunno where it is from though, damnit for it getting to you all late so I couldn’t rat it
@Winedavid59
Mid evil or Medieval?
/image scratching head
Mead?
Or Cider?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59 Yes, ciders were popular in Lord Byrons era.
@msten @Ceridwyn @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
St. Julian Hard Cider “Forbidden Fruit”
We also had 2 others here, Batch Cider & Waterhouse Hard Cider
@msten @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59 @Cerridwyn
There’s also a Thatchers Green Goblin Oak Aged Cider, but doesn’t look to be available here. (Bowie was the Goblin King.)
@Cerridwyn @msten @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Aarrrgh! So focused on the cider, forgot to search on Meads! Ziggy “Stardust”!!! Doh!!!
@Cerridwyn @MarkDaSpark @Winedavid49 @. The mead in Medieval was a bigger part of the clue than I thought. That would be too easy. SMH
Medieval
@Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
St. Julian Hard Cider “Forbidden Fruit”
We also had 2 others here, Batch Cider & Waterhouse Hard Cider
@Winedavid49 I’m going with Stardust Mead, unlikely though a vendor from NC might be around these parts.
It could be a cider, though – who could forget Ziggy Stardust and the Ciders from Mars?
@Winedavid49 Well, I’ll be!
@InFrom @Winedavid49
I have to honestly say I find more odd meads here than anywhere else
@Winedavid59
@Winedavid59 @Winedavid49
@MarkDaSpark clue? elevating our game on this next one. very excited about it. but then again i like rocky soil.
@Winedavid59
Elder Rock?
Paradise Ridge? (Rockpile AVA)
@Winedavid59
Or Rockpile Vineyards or Winery?
@MarkDaSpark @Winedavid59
I will throw out a “wishful thinking” guess of Seghesio. They make a Rockpile Zin.
Good evening.
another wine from this historcal winery.
From Louis to Martin, so to speak.
@Winedavid59
I’m going with Foppiano.
@karenhynes @Winedavid59
From L. Foppiano to Martin Ray
@Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
@Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
@Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Mystery wine offer?
@MarkDaSpark crap, i could have sworned i already gave a clue before going to a neighbor’s gathering… my bad.
we run these guys alot lately, cause the QPR is off the charts. the last name is not as popular as it sounds in terms of famous people. canadian public figure, psychiatrist? sorry if i’ve used this before. but really slim picken’s…
@Winedavid59 Peterson
