The 2016 Syrah gives up lots of darker fruits and peppery herbs as well as a medium-bodied, rounded, charming style. With savory tannins, good fruit, and a clean finish, it’s a good value geared for drinking over the coming 4-5 years. The releases from Amavi Cellars continue to represent terrific values.

Smells Like: bright black raspberry, blueberry, allspice
Amavi’s 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec, and the rest Petit Verdot, offers a classic Cabernet nose of dark fruits, leafy herbs, chocolate, and damp earth. It’s nicely concentrated, has medium to full-bodied richness, and a rounded, plump, delicious texture.

Within all of our vineyards we dedicate ourselves to being stewards of the land and leaders in the practices of sustainable agriculture.
2016 was the longest harvest we can remember. It was one of the earliest growing seasons on record, bud break, bloom and veraison were all the earliest we have ever seen. We started picking in August and didn’t finish until mid-October (just before the rain!). This combination of early and long created the best of both worlds. 2016 is poised to go down in the books as one of the most perfect growing seasons.
April and May were warm and dry with temperatures jumping into the triple digits by early June. This hot start led to a large crop, with larger berries and cluster weights. Cooler temperatures arrived mid-summer and continued through harvest. As things cooled significantly it allowed for long hang times and optimal picking dates. This long season allowed the grapes to ripen slowly, preserving freshness and elegance in the wines.

@Winedavid49 Ok then, one case on the way! BTW we had the Slingshot Cab delivered today in 90+ degree heat. It might be time to start using the styrofoam packaging.
We picked up a case of the Syrah from a prior offering, and liked it very much. I think we’ve got about a half dozen left. It’s a definite buy- and but for the recent 3 case spree of other wines, we’d be all over this one. @winedavid49, hope this is one we’ll be able to see in the rotation from time to time!
As I mentioned on the NOVA forum, if anyone in Northern Virginia is mainly interested in the Cabs, I’m mainly interested in the Syrahs, so maybe we can be a team. But if not, I also need the money, so that’s good too.

I’d love to hear some rattage!
@jchasma and check out the producer podcast if you haven’t. Eric and his family are such straight shooters. great to work with.
These are previous offers, so no rattage ( and a late inning replacement).
I think the QPR on these at retail rocks. This price? Oh yea…
@Winedavid49 Ok then, one case on the way! BTW we had the Slingshot Cab delivered today in 90+ degree heat. It might be time to start using the styrofoam packaging.
@Winedavid49
For the '16 cab, yes, part of that three year vertical.
But did I miss a previous Syrah offer?
Ah, the '14, but this is a '16.
@Vyntage noted!
This looks like a solid offer. Anyone have experience with this winery? How many cases each? Thanks

I got a case of Syrah when it was first offered. It’s really great wine. Amazing QPR for sure. Have not tried the cab.
I’m going to be in WW and will visit Amavi the week of June 10th. Any possibility of picking up the case (or two) there and then? Great QPR.
I live in the Columbia River wine country 50 miles from WW. For me Amavi is an automatic buy and I have a lot of wineries to choose from.
Oh this one is easy. In for a case.
Budget is too tight, but I really enjoyed the Syrah. And FWIW I thought the sheet they included pure class.

Having now had a chance to taste both wines (both need to be decanted), I’d buy these again in a hearbeat. Great QPR.
@DanNC thanks for the input! I too am a fan!
