CaseMateers on the Green - Pasadena Pops 2022 - 7/23
2Its that time of year, time get really hot and sweaty for a couple of hours while drinking some great wines and eating some good grub by our locals. Then get cooled by the evening breeze while listening to the usual good music from the Pasadena Pops.
We typically have a few options to vote on but the only date that works for us is July 23rd.
So we will be there regardless and if we can organize this into an event then we will make it a good time.

I think I’ll bring some homemade chili oil in case anybody wants to try that with the meat.
Oh and btw if you’re worried about the meat being to smokey/to hot and sweet/ or too hot I would consider bringing something so you won’t be hungry. Sorry I’m not taking requests

If you’ve never tried it, a pastrami-type rub is amazing. It’s basically 50-50 coriander and black pepper, then plus whatever else you like.

Of course it is! Next time you smoke a full packer I’m sure you can do pastrami and send some over
@ScottW58 I did that with a brisket flat a few weeks ago. Even with my sophomoric setup it worked pretty well. You get the smoky goodness and pastrami bite without the brined quality.

Yeah I have read you really need to brine that for a day or two first to get a good one?
@ScottW58 To make a proper pastrami, absolutely. To smoke a brisket with a pastrami spice rub and have the best of both worlds, not at all.
I happened on a cheap brisket at the grocery store and had some pastrami rub so i just put it on and smoked it. Highly recommended.

For next year, here is where we parked on Hugo Reid drive.
It’s a one way exit to Baldwin so coming in you have to go past it on Baldwin and come into the neighborhood from south off of Huntington. From there it’s a one block walk north to the south entrance.
@CorTot And for those who had will-call tickets, they did have the list at the south entrance as well. That worked out quite well also.
@klezman yes, we had always assumed you had to go to the main gate for the will call but they had it at the South Gate which is a way better walk.
We’ll see what we can do! Hope we have a regular sitter by then…
We still need to sort out the babysitter thing…I keep asking…
