@warcraft82 And for clarity for those who don’t know, these are not the same vineyard as Scott’s Vineyard 1869 or Noceto Original Grandpere. These are Renwood’s estate vineyard cuttings from that vineyard.
@FritzCat@jmdavidson1 His older stuff was mid- to high-14s, which is fine. When it gets much over 15% I worry about (a) bitterness and (b) ageability. I am just barely starting to think about drinking my 2011s and still have 2x 2006s. The 2006 is 14.9%.
This is also why I’m buying less and less Turley.

This has been going on for a few weeks, Wells Guthrie from copain new project went belly up so bankrupt auction of all the wines Dupuis pinots for a starting bid of $5 per case. Most of the hundreds of cases went for around $100 per and they have 45 more cases? Only problem you have to pickup within a few days or something? Well if you have a friend around there here you go.
My fellow 'mates. I’ve been requesting Wilson (mostly Zins) for years here. Today, over at the 'spies, they have a 97 point (and not a Luca Maroni 97 point) 2021 ‘Tori Reserve’ Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel for $33. I haven’t tried this one, but I’ma get a few, as I suspect it will be killer. (16%)
@klezman the winery has not been sold but it is closing. Someone please buy it. Yes everything is half off. We just can’t sustain it any more. Thanks everyone for your support over the years!
@eljefetwisted If I’d won the lottery last night I’d be up there so fast…
How long do you envision keeping operating? Is 2018 really the last vintage or is there more lurking?
@eljefetwisted Quite sad for the end of this era, but wishing you well in retirement! Would be great to cross paths again, too.
Time to stock up!
And maybe you can get a couple Woot Cellars options in bottle. Right, @WineDavid59?
Did y’all check out @WineDavid59’s new version of Underground Cellar? Not a bad first offer with a Screaming Eagle on the menu, and I’m damn glad I didn’t get any “upgrades” of Caymus! undergroundcellar.com
WD doesn’t give me any kickbacks, but maybe he should!
@klezman
I went in on the sneak preview deal the other day and matched my first big upgrade from the OG UC, a magnum of Shafer Hillside Select. Paid $48 for the first one (2007), got this one (2017) for $29.
@klezman 99% of bottles are upgraded. Does that mean you have a 1% chance of getting the wine you ordered? Every day is Mystery Case Day? Count me in. Spin the wheel. The blog should be wild.
@chipgreen@msten@Winedavid59 I didn’t know there was a preview deal because of a now-dead email. Bummer.
Any coupons or discounts we should know about from that?
@klezman
Supposedly the Isabel and Knox are his top pinots? I will open the 04 tonight to try then decide on the 01. Can’t wait to try the 99 chard soon, wth for $34 it’s worth a try can’t complain about provenance.
@ScottW58 I didn’t want to spend $75 so I got three of the single vineyard Pinots and 2 Chardonnay. We’ll see if anything else makes sense if there’s any left in a few weeks.
@ctmariner@rjquillin yes, Garagiste only ships full cases unless you ask for an exception. They also only ship when the weather is optimal, depending on your location.
@chipgreen@klezman
The retail price doesn’t bother me as much as there willingness to undercut the loyal club members by selling wines cheeper to flash websites. That to me is full stop. That goes for any winery imho.
Stereophonic Wines has up to 60% off selected varieties and discounts on some imports. Shipping is flat rate for quantity, but the rate varies by distance (hope that makes sense). No codes, just go to the website.
RWS has 3 bottles of 2019 Onesta Golden Vineyard Syrah for $60 plus $7 fixed shipping. Looks like Jillian aka @WineNapaDoc is closing her winery I don’t think we got her pre-Thanksgiving Cinsault on here this year?
WTSO has the '20 Iron Horse Heritage and Heart of the Vineyard for $20, about the same price as offered here. Also has the Keenan chard for $25, almost $10 more than offered here
@kaolis “Also has the Keenan chard for $25, almost $10 more than offered here” true but you can have them delivered where you want and when you want, ymmv
The bottled cheer has returned to meh! $99/case and a $20 Casemates coupon to boot. This is usually Pedroncelli Sonoma Classico. What say you @klezman the ever Cheerful labrat?
@hscottk I say it’s a known entity! One of my least favourite Pedroncelli bottles (somewhere between the Friends Red and Sonoma Classico for me) but even this with air went from “hard to drink” to “quite sippable”.
@CruelMelody
Likely those are from the “new UC” as WCC/WD purchased the assets and relaunched the site under their management. A few of us here have purchased. No complaints here on my one purchase, and someone got a very high quality upgrade bottle. It’s posted on one of the threads…
@CruelMelody@rjquillin Yeah, I’ve been thinking we should start a thread devoted to UC discussion. The discussion we had was hidden away somewhere, I’ll see if I can find it.
Anybody go in on the LB marathon today? I kept seeing these Mail Road Pinot Noirs claiming a retail around $150 but selling for ~$35. For once, CT agreed that the average value was around $120 for recent vintages, so I guess I’m going to try a few for that price. Anybody know this producer?
Anybody pick up anything interesting? Box sets of Screaming Eagle??

@kaolis retail of $45? Ha!
Regardless, $20 is a good price for it.
@klezman I didn’t catch that, a bit of hyperbole for sure
Maybe not a “deal” but spotted Ped at Trader Joe’s… and in the new label!
@radiolysis I saw that last week too! Hate the new label though.
@klezman @radiolysis
Agree.

@kaolis @rjquillin I saw what kaolis listed this morning, too.
@rjquillin If you are GC or MC Berserker, preview deal is still up. 40% off hangers, ribeye, lamb loin.
@rjquillin @infrom maybe I worded it wrong, not the preview, but the early purchase offer for MC and GC members. It’s still up.

@FritzCat Thanks for sharing.
@FritzCat @jmdavidson1 the 15.4% alcohol scared me off
@jmdavidson1 @klezman Tried the 2019 last night, also 15.4%, and it was delicious; very new-world, but smooth.

Lots of half bottles on Wines TSO today. Great wines, not great deals…IMHO.

WD has some EVO and Olives up on the other site

@klezman @ScottW58 I agree.
Who knows the details about Twisted Oak’s situation? Maybe @ElJefeTwisted has a comment? Or @HitAnyKey42?
@klezman i guess youre asking because it looks like everything is half off?
@klezman He’s retiring. He’s had the winery up for sale for a couple years now, but is finally just making the final step to retire. If you want to buy it, it’s only $3.4M :
https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/4280-Red-Hill-Rd-Vallecito-CA/26169388/
@HitAnyKey42 so is he shutting down and liquidating the inventory? Or some other plan?

I believe he commented in a daily thread it has been sold, but little supporting details offered.

@klezman Not familiar with Garagiste - will check it out even though I don’t need yet another option for buying wine!
@ctmariner @klezman
It’s slippery. Don’t forget to cost in shipping.
@ctmariner @rjquillin about $38/case to the west coast and $50/case to the east.
@klezman @rjquillin can you build a case over time like the “locker” at Winespies?
@ctmariner @rjquillin yes, Garagiste only ships full cases unless you ask for an exception. They also only ship when the weather is optimal, depending on your location.
@klezman @rjquillin Signed up for offers

Likely those are from the “new UC” as WCC/WD purchased the assets and relaunched the site under their management. A few of us here have purchased. No complaints here on my one purchase, and someone got a very high quality upgrade bottle. It’s posted on one of the threads…
