“Remix” is a barrel selection blend crafted from our favorite barrels in each lot. This wine is made with incredible intention and attention to detail. The idea of adding this wine to our portfolio came about in 2015. The quality of fruit in that vintage was high and gave us a lot of inspiration to be playful and to try some new blending concepts. We lovingly called our first go round with this wine “Mixtape”. Just like a mix tape is a compilation of favorite songs from varying musical genres, the blend was bringing together a mix of different varietals, with each one adding unique characteristics and layers to the final wine. As we continue to learn from prior vintages and blending sessions, we decided to branch out with this wine and now call it “Remix”. The 2020 Vintage is impossibly dark and supremely complex and concentrated. The final blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Petite Sirah, 15% Petit Verdot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Graciano. In additional steps to making this blend extra special, we aged this wine in 15% New French Oak for 20 months and held it back in bottle for an additional 6 months before release. This wine will improve with time in the bottle. If you plan on drinking soon, try giving it a few hours of extra oxygen in a decanter to make this wine really sing!

2020 E11even Petit Verdot, Santa Ynez Valley
Tasting Notes
Our Petit Verdot is 100% Estate grown, which lies within the borders of the Santa Ynez Valley AVA and sits at a slightly higher elevation, above the fog layer. The Santa Ynez AVA is a long, east-west corridor with very cool temperatures on the coast that become progressively warmer inland, which allows for a wide variety of grapes and styles to flourish. Petit Verdot one of our favorites to craft each vintage, despite it being misunderstood as a blending grape. While it does improve a variety of blends, we prefer it all by itself. The name Petit Verdot translates to “little green one” due to its tendency ripen late in the season. We love it for its robust tannin structure, dark color and a lush flavor profile and believe it shows a strong enough presence to stand on its own! The 2020 growing season was another long one, largely a function of fine weather—with some wonderful warmth that adds ripeness and richness to this vintage. We are already seeing the benefit of longer hang time in this wine: mature sweet tannins, outstanding color and brightness, depth of fruit, and beautiful balance. We aged this wine for 20 months in 20% new French Oak as well as an additional 6-month aging in bottle before release.

2020 E11even Petite Sirah, Santa Ynez Valley
Tasting Notes
Our vineyard site for our E11even Petite Sirah is located within the Los Olivos District AVA. It shares a common boundary with Ballard Canyon AVA on the west side, and a boundary with the Happy Canyon AVA on the east side, distinguished by its uniform topography, geology, and soil type. Petite Sirah is a very thick-skinned grape, with intense depth of color and full tannic structure. We ferment in large, open top tanks for a gentler, softer level of extraction. After fermentation is finished, we leave the wines on skins for another week, which allows the tannins to soften and integrate. We then transfer the wine to barrels for 20 months of aging in 25% New French oak. We then allow the wine to slowly develop in bottle for nearly a year before finally releasing it. The 2020 Petite Sirah explodes with aromas of fresh blackberry, plum, dark chocolate, vanilla and lavender. On the palate, you will taste mouthwatering tart summer berries, espresso and mocha wrapped in dense velvety tannins. Don’t be afraid to hide this bottle from yourself for a year or two, as it has aging potential for 10 years and beyond!

2020 E11even Cabernet Franc, Santa Ynez Valley
Tasting Notes
Cabernet Franc possesses a strong tannin structure, dark color, and a unique flavor profile that can produce high-quality wines, in a variety of dramatically different climates. It is grown throughout California in many different regions of the world and is becoming increasingly popular as a single-varietal wine. We are proud to grow amazing Cabernet Franc grapes on our very own Estate Vineyard, on an uplifted bench with sandy and gravelly soils, just above the winery in Los Olivos. 2020 provided a nearly picture-perfect vintage for our vineyard with a long growing season that allowed for even ripening and amazing flavor development. In addition, cold, crisp evenings allowed for grapes to hang on the vine, into the middle of October. The 2020 vintage expresses rich flavors of fresh summer plum, blackberries, crushed gravel, and lilac with a cooling herbaceous undernote. We balance the tannin structure of this wine by fermenting in the tank and pumping over twice a day. This promotes a softer, more gentle extraction. We complement this by aging for 20+ months in 25% New French oak to really allow this wine enough time for the tannins to soften before bottling.

This is a very personal project for me. You see, I adore music about as much as I love wine. I am also nostalgic for an era when music did not come on a chip, an era before auto-tune, before hi-def, when scratches and skips were a sign of a beloved album played over and over again. Informed by this all-consuming passion, my E11even label is inspired by a vintage concert ticket that I found.
It got me thinking and dreaming and scheming. It got me to here and now. The E11even wines are all estate-grown and crafted with the utmost care and precision. They truly represent the best that we can do here, on the Curtis Estate in the heart of Los Olivos.
Perhaps the most important thing that I really want you all to understand about our E11even Wines is that they are NOT some kind of second label, or declassified Andrew Murray wines. I think of our E11even wines as an amazing opportunity to show off and share the bounty of our diverse vineyard sites. These are our first wines, not copies or imitations of anything else. These wines are informed by my 30 years of wine growing in Los Olivos and represent the VERY best barrels that we craft each year.
Some may ask, “Why E11even?” We think we are one better than “10”, always pushing the envelope in order to grow and craft the best wine possible. While others may settle to be a “10”, we strive to be better, we yearn to be an “11”! Oh, and Yes, the name is also inspired by one of my favorite movies, “Spinal Tap”.

@danandlisa@klezman@MarkDaSpark I can’t fit anymore. There have been too many great offers here lately, and I bit on about half of them. Love this stuff, but going to have to hope it comes around again after a while.
Thank you Casemates for the opportunity to rat this offer.
Picked up the box this evening from my UPS access point.
Upon opening I was pleasantly surprised not only by a bottle of Andrew Murray’s Eleven line but also by a cool Eleven wines trucker hat! Score! Thank you Andrew for the cool gift
Used DeLong
Short review: nice wine at $40 SRP a steal at $20 and double steal at under $17
Color: dark ruby with a clear halo
Smell: dark fruit with some allspice and violets, extremely aromatic and satisfying
Tannins: medium with some grip but smooth overall
Oak: low almost non existent. My guess is mostly neutral with a bit of new oak
Alcohol: my guess was 14 but surprised at 14.5. Does not drink that high and is well balanced, no burn or the fire I feel in my throat with high alcohol
Taste: baknsce, blackberry, nutmeg, skoith and fruity
Color: Dark Red Nose: Dark summer fruits (plum/cherry) Palate: Black cherry fruit, some oak. Mellow tannins. Medium body. Medium in body with medium acidity and some tannins.
$38 a bottle at the winery, so great prices from Casemates!
Notes:
Labrat Phase 1:
First night drank it pop and por and then after decanting. It will go well with everything as well as on it’s own. Dark red color, aromas and taste as promised. First taste out of the bottle was very good. Second taste after decanting didn’t make a big difference (was still good!).
Not a sweet wine, ignore the “mature sweet tannins” from their notes.
@MarkDaSpark Very cool decanter. I go old school with the mesh screened funnel that sends the wine down the side of the decanter but I could be coaxed into buying this one for exhibition value.
It was a bit of a close call. The package was delivered around 6pm ET. I let it settle and warm up for about 3 hours.

The branding and the swag look great. I hope the wine is too!!
Pop and Pour:
A deep garnet, almost looks like grape juice. No discernible legs. Very strong alcohol nose with a hint of red fruit behind it. It’s light bodied, kind of bitter red fruit on the pallet with an alcohol burn on the finish. I’m chalking all of the above up to it being so young and so little time to warm and rest.
I gave it a good two and half hours in the glass, let’s see what we have…The alcohol nose has largely disappeared revealing an almost holiday mixture of cranberry, cherry and herbs. It now has a smooth mouth fee. It’s light bodied with mild dark fruit on the pallete with a quite a bit of tannins and acidity, almost hot on the finish.
I think with some more age and or well decanted, paired with food, the fruit will rise to more prominence and mellow the acidity. This could become a nice table wine with some aging and or a lengthy decant. The acidity of new world cabernet franc isn’t really my jam and may have biased this review as much as I tried for it not to. Still love the branding and the swag!!!
@klezman I left pallet for you. First time I remember both misspellings, or should I say misuses, of palate in the same post. People, it’s not that hard!
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?

E11even Wines Mixed Reds - $40 = 16.66%
On the fence, I’ve had these before and very enjoyable and a good value at these prices.
With the holidays coming…as well as all my kids who love drinking my wine I’m sure I will be able to open the boxes I already have laying around and get them into proper storage racks.
Thanks for inquiring…no plans as of the moment. Production has been a bit lighter lately, so most of the Andrew Murray Vineyards wines are winery direct only. E11even is still the side-hustle passion project that excites me on a daily basis as I love the “lesser” varieties more than the traditional varieties. We are still trying to expose the E11even wines to more peeps, thus the amazing offer today
My wife was just drinking the 2017 Petite Verdot last night from the case offering 3 years ago. She’s been blowing through my stash a ton lately… . This must be a sign from the gods. Maybe it’s time to restock!
I was lucky to receive the 2020 Petite Sirah for review along with the hat and corkscrew. I don’t often drink Petit Sirah, but have enjoyed it in the past. I was a bit surprised based on the age by how dark the cork was upon opening, but the vintners’ comments surrounding this being a thicker skinner grape helped to add context.
Color: Inky red. This one looked thick.
Nose: Blackberry, Cherry, and leathery notes.
The first taste was very smooth with a big velvety mouthfeel, with medium very well-balanced tannins. The taste was consistent with the nose and had a lot of the same berry flavors. This would be great with steak and felt like a nicer wine I would expect to cost in excess of $30. I was surprised by how smooth and balanced this wine was considering the color and cork. I will definitely pick up a few.
@GraysonM thanks for the report. Petite Sirah is a VERY dark variety and we do everything within our power (meaning, we try not to over-extract during fermentation) to craft ours in a softer and more drinkable style. Petite Sirah can remain hard and undrinkable for years, but we strive for full enjoyment upon release with the promise of 5-7 years of enjoyment down the road. Cheers!
@AndrewMurray curious how all four wines have a 14.5 alcohol level and in checking the offer on 2017s all three had 14.5 alcohol levels as well. I’ve never seen this before. Thanks
This is an interesting and nerdy question (exactly my kind of question). I always wonder why people get so hung up on the alcohol content in wine (not that you are, I am just using this space to ponder aloud while answering your question - scroll down to the bottom to see the answer). When asked the alc content of our wines, I tend to say YES, they have alcohol. I am not trying to be flippant, it just seems as though ALC content entered the vernacular a few years ago and the conversations have only heated up since. I noticed years ago that as beers got stronger and stranger, wine was getting lighter. Of course this was not entirely true, just a silly observation. But, alc conversations were suddenly here to stay. For me, alcohol rarely ever gets in the way of enjoyment…rather it is acidity out of balance or volatility or cloudiness or corkiness etc that irks me. Yes, sometimes alc is bothersome, but when it is not bothersome or out of place, I am just not sure why it is a topic of conversation. These E11even reds are unashamedly ripe and rich wines, with very intentional balance. They are varietals that retain natural acidity as they ripen through the alcohol scale. Through the years, we have crafted these wines with both higher and lower alcohols than the stated 14.5% - this represents an average and the Federal Govt. allows this average. From their own website, here are the legal requirements for alc statements…
"Alcohol content may be stated as a specific percentage with a tolerance of:
Plus or minus 1 percentage point for wines containing over 14% alcohol by volume."
So, no our wines have not been the same alcohol through the years, but the average of 14.5% has remained true. We have felt it more important to craft the wines true to style and varietal character with balanced acidity, tannins and yes alcohol, rather than re-doing the alcohol statement on each wine for each vintage. I hope this is enough of an explanation about our own wines and possibly why even others don’t change their alc statements (unless the difference is bigger than allowed).
Thank you for asking a seemingly simple, yet very thought provoking question…
@AndrewMurray@losthighwayz using the available tolerance was my first guess. Thanks for the transparency!
What’s the real alcohol?
I like knowing the alcohol level for two reasons. First, it’s an (imperfect) indicator of grape ripeness at harvest and therefore of the fruit/acid balance. This tells me something about the style of wine I should anticipate when I’m buying something I haven’t tasted. Doubly si when I don’t know the producer or region that well.
Second, I’ve found that I tend to find the alcohol bothersome when it’s above 15.5%, give or take. So I kinda of wish that a wine labelled 14.9% couldn’t have, in fact, nearly 16% alcohol. But that’s my palate, whether it’s if a yak or not!
