Aromas of raspberry, plum, cherry. Hints of coffee bean. Fruit forward. On the palate, bright bright acid. Leaner, old world minerality and structure. This wine begs for food. Toned down tannins. Mouthfeel is balanced and young. Slightly twiggy. Long plus acidic finish. Goes for minutes. Old world minerality without greenness. Long and lingering cranberry aftertaste.
As a young boy, Ron Donati grew up in South San Francisco, the son of a first generation Italian-American family. One of his fondest memories was the sights and smells of his grandfather making wine in his basement. Like most Italian immigrants, Albino Donati made his own wine for the family dinner table. As an adult, Ron became a successful entrepreneur with a penchant for making quality products that were attainable to all, not just a select few. This same passion serves as the foundation and guiding mission of Donati Family Vineyard today. It is our goal to produce wines of exceptional quality regardless of budget.
The core of Donati Family Vineyard’s award-winning wine portfolio has always been focused on Bordeaux varieties. These include Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as high-quality Meritage-style blends.
All of the fruit is sourced from our sustainably farmed estate vineyards. Our winemaking philosophy is one of minimal intervention in the cellar. Donati’s dedicated winemaking team, brings hands-on experience, analytic knowledge, and a true passion for their craft.

It’s always difficult to write an honest review on here. I am appreciative of the opportunity afforded by WD and his crew.
Bottle arrived earlier today and into the wine fridge it went. Wine temp was 61 at PnP according to my Thermoworks Thermopop. Color was a nice crimson with bright hues. The nose was mostly alcohol with no discernable aromas.
Taste was disjointed. Too much alcohol with little fruit or anything for that matter. There was a bit of cherry but that’s about it. I revisited two hours later at about 69 degrees. Not much change for the better. The wine began to display a bit of pickle juice on the back end. Not a good sign imo.
I honestly did not find it enjoyable. It was not terrible but definitely not a wine worth revisiting. I pegged it at $10-$12 on here.
@CorTot This notebook looks great, would love to buy it as a gift. Any info about what it is and if you would suggest this brand or another? Sorry, just agree that this looks like an excellent too.
I guess I’ll throw some words together.
Assuming most can read my chicken scratch/short hand above. (i’m not a dr.).
This was very expressive and after about an hour seemed to fill my whole living room with its nose.
It definitely did not come across as a heavy weight cab, if I were tasting blind I’d almost say a mild zin.
This was not my favorite bottle but its not as bad Lost indicated above. The price point is fine but it wont blow your socks off.
The wine comes across as dry but there is also a sweet fruit component there as well. MrsCortot indicated maybe it was cocoa. I took it as more jammy fruit. I did not note the strong alcohol that Lost mentioned above. My notes were written up at the 1 hour and 2 hour marks and the wine was room temp, around 72 deg.
I will add that I gave the bottle ample time to breath and gave it a fair shot with multiple revisits. My notes do not align with @cortot so wondering if bottle variation is at play. I do not think it was a flawed bottle though. To be clear it was not undrinkable. My wife liked it enough to drink it.
Finally, I tend to look for QPR on here and I do not see it with this offer. That being said, if your expectations are a $10 bottle market price then this offer should be serviceable.

@CorTot wondering if there is bottle variation at play?
@losthighwayz Could be. We’ll never know…
@dak52 I love this notebook. I’ve been using this one for quite awhile.
@CorTot I see what you did there. Lol
@CorTot That was fun checking out your notes. Thanks for ratting.

Does this have any affiliation with the New Orleans restaurant?
@hankster2 It does. https://casemates.com/forum/topics/2021-its-about-time-clue#619458cf368f2c001c7c3746
@InFrom Thanks. Missed that. Might have to overlook the lukewarm reviews since I used to work there back in the day.
@hankster2 Just drink it while walking down the street and you’ll be ok.
