Blanc de Noirs NV:
90 Points & Top 100 - Wine Spectator
French for “white of black”, Blanc de Noirs describes a sparkling wine made from Pinot Noir grapes, by pressing them gently and running the pale juice over the skins.
Pale Salmon in color, the Blanc de Noirs has aromas of berry and pear, complimented by a rich, round mouth feel on the palate. It finishes with a layer of cream and pleasant, warm toastiness. Incredibly versatile with all styles of food!
Gruet Sauvage NV:
Gruet Sauvage NV is a bone-dry sparkler, pale straw in color with a delicate but persistent mousse. The aromas of bright mineral and citrus notes tickle the nose followed by touches of green apple, lemon and grapefruit. The finish is structured, flavorful and long. The bright acidity makes this wine a perfect pairing for oysters, sushi and cream sauces.
Gruet Brut NV:
90 Points & Top 100 - Wine Spectator
Brut NV was our first wine released in 1989. As the predominant grape used in Champagne, “We wanted our first sparkling wine to express the finesse of Chardonnay”- Laurent Gruet. More than twenty years later, our Brut NV remains our flagship sparkling wine for both quality and price.
Wonderful aromas of green apple and citrus with mineral notes make for a delightful start to this traditional sparkler. Our Brut NV offers bright, crisp acidity complimented by a touch of yeast on the delightfully long finish. A classic house style!

I love this stuff. Used to buy it just about every time it came up on w.w, and this price for the case is actually $15 cheaper. Makes a nice gratuity for the folks at the FedEx and UPS depots, too.
@kawichris650 Not for me - not much of a bubbly drinker. And I really am trying to stick to my SIWBM this time (which means I’ll break within a week, I figure).
I had these shipped in NJ before (On another not to be mentioned site). So many deals leave out NJ now! At least 3-4 offers in the last two weeks which I would have jumped on…
I kinda love that you saved this for avengers opening night. Also, Thor speaks Gruet. Another!
I’d buy this, but I still have too much from WW, it’s really good stuff on it’s own or mixed in a cocktail. Haven’t broken into the Sauvage yet.
I am so sorry for the confusion! You are now able to ship to PA. Please feel free to jump in and purchase now. I hope you enjoy the sparkling wine. It sure is my favorite
The stuff is $14/bottle out the door at my local world market. So about a $2/bottle savings here on casemates when you buy a case. Love Love Love this stuff, but the $2 savings isn’t really enough to coax me into buying an entire case at once.
@browncj7@mrn1 Happy to help out, any time. Go ahead and order it, ship to the address I sent you privately, and we can work out the transfer details later. They say it should arrive 5/7-5/10, so that should provide enough safety margin to have it here by the 17th.
@browncj7@mrn1 BTW, I wound up ordering a case of the Riesling, and I can easily spare some, so if you’d like to have a few, or even only one, let me know.
@browncj7@ddeuddeg@chipgreen The greatness of Wine Woot continues here on CaseMates. I’ve never seen a business with the kind of community we had with Wine Woot, and so glad to see it continue here on CaseMates. Thanks for smuggling this across the OH border for me!!!
@browncj7@chipgreen@mrn1 You’re absolutely right about the community aspect. We’ve formed a number of lasting friendships through wine.woot, even taking part in a wedding of two of those friends. And we’ve already found some new (local) acquaintances with Casemates. Casematelegging for our OH friends, including the friends we haven’t yet met in person, is always an option. I only require that you let me know before ordering, just to avoid the possibility of a snafu. As long as I know a shipment is coming, even if I’m away, the local FedEx folks will hold it for me beyond the normal 5 day maximum, provided that I let them know when I’ll be picking it up.
I have to say i am extremely surprised that IL is not on the shipping list. Have purchased cases of this stuff from Woot many times. I hope this is not a trend.
Ive become a pretty good fan of Gruet this year. BTW its pronounced Grew-Ay. At least that is what they were saying around the tasting room. I took a trip from Napa to New Mexico with the intention of seeing a bunch of National Parks and visiting Gruet. Great road trip. The Gruet Tasting room is pretty cool. I keep reminding myself that I need to remember that a lot of Wineries and tasting rooms are nowhere near the actual grapes. This seems to be also true with Gruet. Although they do have two tasting rooms and I only visited one, still believing it was the main one.
I actually became a fan after a few purchases on w.w, picking up a package very similar to this. After that I started picking up every different blend and vintage that I could find. At the price point everything is, it was just so easy to do so, and considerably more so than anything I can do in Napa.
Their blanc de blanc is my favorite, but they always are. Its amazing and I havnt tried it next to my favorite Napa blanc, probably because im scared to. After that it is their Sauvage. This was honestly the first time I got into the concept of “no dosage”, a lack spiking the wine at final bottling. I love it. It is tame and dry, exactly what im looking for in almost any sparkling wine. It has actually prompted me to try and make a no dosage chardonnay sparkling this year.
Id say that I would prefer the Brut over the Blanc de Noir. I think a lot of this is stemming from a preference in enjoying still Pinot wines over sparkling. This might be due to my lack of knowledge in the pinot grape and also following my palate and always enjoying a heartier pinot over something lighter. I think because of that when say the words “Sparkling Pinot”, I always imagine something on the heavier and bite’ier end of sparkling. This as said before will steer me towards pulling the standard Brut more than the Noir. Especially because of the price point and its 90 point range for a sparkling. Its perfect for that traditional Brut taste. It has become my go-to, base for Sparkling.
As stated on here in other places, you can get bottles like the Brut at Cost plus and Safeway for pretty cheap. Right now for me I think they have the 6 bottle deals for under $12.99 a bottle. This price is pretty far under the price that you can get em for at the Winery. Its worth it. I usually have a hard time finding bottles outside of the Brut, Blanc de Noir, and Brut Rose. They are usually what I find in stores around here in California.
If I was going to break down this deal specifically. Id be going after the Sauvage. At the price point it pretty much makes it all still worth it for me. I already have a good case of it and probably a case of the brut but I am still considering it. Summer is coming, I know im going to drink it. Ill crush through the Sauvage after work on the patio. Kill the Blanc De Noirs during dinners and with food. And probably use the Brut as my take on that old Folgers coffee commercial where it wakes you up in the morning. I just keep more pulp free OJ around because of it. Going back and forth with adding anything or not. Sometimes I feel crazy adding juice to “a 90 pointer” but they seem to make it easy to be unregretful.
As the t-shirt says…Gruet All Day…and maybe tomorrow, and after that. But probably not after that, because this is casemases after all.
This is an autobuy for me. These go down really quickly around the house in the summertime. At $10/bottle, you really can’t beat this for an all occasions sparkler. Mimosas, bellinis, whatever, just enjoy.
I’ve been wanting to try the Sauvage for a while. I’ve also seen it locally at around $20, and the others sound pretty nice. I can see that I’m starting on the road to ordering a case, unless it sells out before I succumb.
@InFrom I thought I replied to this a couple of days ago, but I don’t see it. Been crazy busy. Anyway, if you haven’t succumbed by now, I have a spare bottle of Sauvage I can send along with the wine we’re still holding from the ice wine festival.
I love this discussion thread! In for a case because I love sparkling and this is so much better than the local. Actually really love Italian sparkling wine these days…Franciacorta and tiny producer prosecco. Enjoyed my visit to Gruet tasting room in ABQ before and expect to be back.
To get you started toward understanding how sweet a particular bottle will be, you might find this article about sugar in wine interesting. The Specs listed above put the Brut and the Blanc de Noirs at 1% residual sugar, and in the Sauvage it’s negligible. All three are going to be dry. Bang for the buck, a great deal! I believe I ordered 3-4 cases with WW and great to see it here now, in for a case. May have to try and set up a second account to get another because WD has to be running out soon. Sauvage is dry and great by itself. We like the brut ( a little sweeter) for mimosas or mixed with Bellini, great Sunday morning start.
Hiii @Seeds I wish I could tell you yes! Unfortunately NJ is a restricted state. Do you by chance have any wine lover friends in NYC that might slip a case with you?!
@GruetWinery I’m sure someone on the site would be happy to help, but unfortunately I’m not getting out there for the next couple months. Maybe next time. You make a very tasty sparkling wine btw
@liquidbluenight I appreciate the offer, but I can’t really devote the time to travel somewhere out of state for wine at all right now. Next time if you want to split one I’ll likely be interested.
I didn’t realize so many No. Californians are on this group. Good to know in case anyone ever wants to split cases in the future. I’m in the San Jose area.
@djgoproduct I hadn’t gotten around to ordering it yet, with a fair amount still on hand, but I’d be glad to split a case, just to help out, and we’ll certainly drink it sooner or later. Do you want to order it, and I’ll take half of it off your hands, or the other way around? Either way works for me, and EV is close enough to make it easy.
@GruetWinery Well I didn’t want to reign on the parade while this offering was going on…especially until I could revisit it. I have a 6 pack of Sauvage from the last WW offering. well 4 now. This is the 2nd bottle I have opened from this last purchase and I’m just not a fan. Not because of the flavor…which is…ok. nothing special. But the bubbles fly to the top and are gone in 10 seconds. then it’s just flat, non-special juice…The wines have been properly chilled before serving.
I opened a bottle of this on new years and was very unimpressed for the same reasons. I immediately signed up for Iron Horse so I would always have some quality sparkling in the house.
I’m mixed on what to do with my other 4 bottles. I don’t even enjoy it making it a mimosa due to the flatness of the drink. I just have to wonder if I got a bad batch of bottles though due to so many people loving this stuff…
So…I ordered this wine with a delivery address in Napa. The wine was shipped from Tracy, Ca, which for those playing at home is like 60 miles away. My coworker already received hers, but apparently mine is on a tour of the United States, having already made stops in Nevada, Utah, Nebraska, Wyoming, and currently Ohio. Can anyone tell me where it’s going and when I can expect my road tripping wine back?
Just consumed a bottle of the Sauvage with my work buddies, and there was no issue with the bubbles. Everyone enjoyed it, in fact two people each bought a bottle from me.

Really?
@rjquillin an oops I think.
@kaolis Here, I miss TT.
Minor, but this would have been corrected long ago.
Anyone in the Twin Cities interested in a split?
@kawichris650 Not for me - not much of a bubbly drinker. And I really am trying to stick to my SIWBM this time (which means I’ll break within a week, I figure).
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?

@MerlynXLII I’m annoyed too, but you are allowed to mention woot.com here.

@kapok6 I’m sure WM only has the Brut. The BdN and Sauvage are rarer beasties and we’ll worth the price of admission.
What I really want to see sometime is their still Pinot Noir, or PN Reserve. Or a mixed offering. The mere thought is making my mouth water.
Ohio didn’t want any any way…
@browncj7 Fake News!
OH would LOVE some!
@browncj7 @mrn1 You could ship it to NY. I’ll be in Wooster, OH on the 17th and 18th for this dinner: https://casemates.com/forum/topics/scott-and-jana-come-to-wooster-oh

@ddeuddeg That’s mighty nice of you! But, I couldn’t resist, I did go for a case, Mate.
@InFrom You won’t be disappointed.
I love this discussion thread! In for a case because I love sparkling and this is so much better than the local. Actually really love Italian sparkling wine these days…Franciacorta and tiny producer prosecco. Enjoyed my visit to Gruet tasting room in ABQ before and expect to be back.
Forgive my ignorance but I’m assuming the Noir is the sweetest of the 3? Looking for something similar to a sweet Moscato.
@dagirlgenius none of these are sweet
@aces219 Thank you!
@dagirlgenius
To get you started toward understanding how sweet a particular bottle will be, you might find this article about sugar in wine interesting. The Specs listed above put the Brut and the Blanc de Noirs at 1% residual sugar, and in the Sauvage it’s negligible. All three are going to be dry. According to the article, a Moscato (or at least the one they feature for purposes of their discussion) comes in at 110 grams of sugar per liter of wine, or 11% residual sugar. So, a big contrast in sweetness.
Oh man, this is one of my favorite “non-California” wineries!
If you like really good and inexpensive sparkling wine, you should order a case!
Great Great Gruet!
That is all.
@ermd Try tossing in a little splash of triple sec to punch up those mimosas. Yum!
@GruetWinery any chance you left NJ off by mistake as well?
Hiii @Seeds I wish I could tell you yes! Unfortunately NJ is a restricted state. Do you by chance have any wine lover friends in NYC that might slip a case with you?!
