@Allieroon
I recently made a comment about it here – that pic is from 2018. An interesting addition is that over Thanksgiving (as mentioned in the linked thread) I passed it along to my oldest daughter for use at my granddaughter’s upcoming wedding. Another daughter brought along a similar looking bottle of wine to our Thanksgiving gathering.
I still need to finish drinking the magnums from last year, but I like these surprises for getting me something I wouldn’t otherwise get a chance to try.
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?
(Note: tax and shipping are not included in savings calculations.)
Mystery Magnum Plus - $15 = 8.33%
Magnums are historically overpriced and generally it’s cheaper to just buy two 750ml bottles of the same wine, so at this price point you are getting a recipe for disappointment,
@canonizer@MitchBenson It’s true that they are seldom “bargains.” Sometimes the wine inside is a special or limited vintage. Also it’s often said that the wine inside stores and ages better. And more festive to bring to a holiday gathering or wedding.
@canonizer I probably call it as it really is, overpriced.
Magnums tend to be 50-300% more expensive than two 740ml bottles of the same wine. That’s not paying a premium, it’s getting a shellacking. They can claim many magnums are hand filled, the bottles are heavier so more expensive, etc. Still over priced.
@pmarin Last year WD resurrected the defunct Underground Cellars. That tends to be higher end stuff, so I was wondering if some of those bottles made it into this offer.
@winecaseaholic In fact, last month (when 9 cases of Casemates/Last Bottle Summer hold ended) I was gone for almost three weeks…and I pulled off the following (combo of UPS & FedEx)…
Vacation hold for the max 7 days
During the second attempt to deliver, had it redirected to the closest UPS Store for an additional 7 days (took two days to get redirected there)
@wine69 I think the person paying winery price is significantly more sane than the person who expects the deal of the day site to use anything other than winery price as their stated value on an offer.
@cbrehman@wine69@slowbie To me, the value proposition is marginal, i.e., they’re “worth” about what I paid for them according to CT. But we’ve had other wines from Ty and Hearst Ranch that we’ve enjoyed and the Meadowcroft looks promising. So we’re not enthusiastic but no regrets. As Super Chicken would say, we knew the job was dangerous when we took it.
Meh…no tears, but also not super excited about my roulette results. Symmetry Mag can be found online for under $100 bucks and the Los Vascos at $20 (not including shipping).
We received them today, missed Brown yesterday the haul as follows:
750
2021 Desert Wind Mourvedre
2021 Donati Claret
Magnum:
To Old Dogs 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Nappa Valley - still selling for $340 at the winery.
Symmetry 2016 Mertige Sonoma Country - still selling for $172 at the winery.
I think it’s well worth the price of admission $165; we’ve never had any of them before. We are happy with the M-Deal!!
(Butt I ame a gradyett off tha CA skool syteam, soew I kant reed, ritte ro due maht tket ti 4 whatt itt is worth)

The fail here has nothing to do with portrait or landscape. The upload is not an image (jpg, png, gif, etc) file but appears like a link to a location. Apple HEIC fails as well.
MAGS - 2016 Symmetry Meritage & 2008 Buoncrustiani Dolcetto di Nonno Dry Creek Valley
750’s - 2022 Ghostwriter Pinot Noir Amaya RIdge Vineyard & 2022 BSC Vallicaia “Super Sonoman” their version of Italy’s Super Tuscon.
I’m happy tge Dolcetyo will match perfectly with Christmas dinner of hone made Lasagna & Mannicotti with “Sunday Sauce”. The Meritage as well as both 750’s can rest in the cellar for a while.
What I like about Casemates is many of these wines dont make it back East and offers like this have these little boutique small production offerings. Hope those who bought get to enjoy one or more of these wines over the holidays.
I don’t think the image upload is working for me either, so if this doesn’t come through:
Mags:
2009 Buoncristiani Dolcetto di Nonno Dry Creek Valley
2016 Two Old Dogs Cabernet Sauvignon
750:
2019 McKahn Family Cellars Morning Glass blend
(got some of this on lastbottle for $16/per. Solid pour)
2022 E11EVEN Petit Verdot
I think I’ve had before but I love all A Murray.
MSRP for Buoncristiani seems a bit high but I love the varietal and excited to try. Biggest problem with Two Old Dogs… when to break it out!

Is this thing on?
@jrbw3 Taps are for beer, generally. These are wines.

any experiences with this?
ya, we badly need some rattage!

I’ve seen Magnum condoms but not vino. Is this a new thing?
@SputnikHQ you should see my double mag!
A Syrah signed by SH
@SputnikHQ fyi…
@Allieroon @SputnikHQ You should see the Salmanazar I just passed on to my daughter to use at her daughter’s wedding.
@Mark_L @SputnikHQ Whoa…whaaaaaat, that’s sooo cool! I’ve only ever seen those in wineries and restaurants. What wine was it?
I won a Jeroboam of Argentine Reserve Malbec at a Greek Orthodox concert/fundraiser in Seattle six years ago…not sure what to do with it!
@Allieroon

@Allieroon @Mark_L
I hope you’re able to taste it now?
@Allieroon @chipgreen Unfortunately, not much has improved in that category.
@Allieroon @Mark_L
Sorry to hear that.

I still need to finish drinking the magnums from last year, but I like these surprises for getting me something I wouldn’t otherwise get a chance to try.
In for 1 “case”
@simtel20 I haven’t even opened any of the magnums from last year.
@simtel20 @Springbank same
/giphy tarnished-nuisance-bead

Haven’t bought here in a long time. Hopefully not a case of mystery regret.
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?
(Note: tax and shipping are not included in savings calculations.)
Mystery Magnum Plus - $15 = 8.33%
@Mark_L Oh. Whups. Guess I should’ve done some math first.
/giphy warty-deaf-parsley

No where does it say the bottles will be different. The last time I bought, I got 2 mags of one wine and two mags of another, not 4 different ones.
@jmdavidson1 From the “Tasting Notes” at the top of this page:
So maybe the 750s could be the same, but not the mags.
@rpstrong Yes. I have little faith in the shipping department. Too many screw ups on the mystery offers.
@jmdavidson1 @rpstrong the design is to have all different bottles in the “case”. WD
@rpstrong @Winedavid59 Ok. Will reconsider. Thanks.
Magnums are historically overpriced and generally it’s cheaper to just buy two 750ml bottles of the same wine, so at this price point you are getting a recipe for disappointment,
@MitchBenson I’d probably say premium priced, not overpriced.
@canonizer @MitchBenson It’s true that they are seldom “bargains.” Sometimes the wine inside is a special or limited vintage. Also it’s often said that the wine inside stores and ages better. And more festive to bring to a holiday gathering or wedding.

Wow, I think i was the 1st to order. “Priceless-Pleasing-Cod”. Comments weren’t even up yet.
@forlich actually a nice cod dish sounds good right now.
@forlich
The purchase formerly known as “First Sucker”!
Previous offer. The price and expected value are both a bit higher this time around. UC cross pollination, perhaps?
https://casemates.com/forum/topics/mystery-magnum-plus
@hscottk sorry, I’m a bit late or slow. What is UC?
I only know University of California, where I went.
@pmarin Last year WD resurrected the defunct Underground Cellars. That tends to be higher end stuff, so I was wondering if some of those bottles made it into this offer.
still debating if I should
@user12967694 Enabler here. You know you want to . . .
Oh jeez…I tried to can, but I can’t even. Such a sucker for Mystery’s & Mag’s…especially Mystery Mags!
@Allieroon fearing-ambulatory-tray
Gah, I really want to buy but I’m leaving town on the 20th. I ain’t risking it. womp womp.
I think you can now have it sent to a UPS store and held for up to 7 or 10 days, know it’s late, but you got a bit of time to check it out.
@winecaseaholic In fact, last month (when 9 cases of Casemates/Last Bottle Summer hold ended) I was gone for almost three weeks…and I pulled off the following (combo of UPS & FedEx)…
@Allieroon @winecaseaholic and on the Seventh Day you rested? With wine.
/showme six wine bottles hanging out in theater seats, with popcorn, getting ready to watch a movie
Ready to hear what everyone got! This should be fun!
Any idea of when these are going to ship?
@kookie00 according to tracking, mine shipped yesterday.
@kookie00 I’m located in the PNW and my order shows as “Processing” as of 12/18/25 12:56PM…fwiw
@kookie00 Just got my shipping notice with an estimated arrival for the 29th.
@kookie00 Just received UPS notice that arrival is expected tomorrow (Saturday) by 1:30pm…yay!
I’m in Northeast. Also still shows as “Processing”
Received mine today. One magnum was 2022 Ty Caton Full Moon and the other was a 2016 Symmetry Meritage
No “out for delivery” email from either CM or UPS, but it’s here!

@davirom Hmmmmm……
@cbrehman @davirom Are those really over $150 as was promised? $169 at the winery for that Ty Caton. But who in their right mind would ever pay that???
@wine69 I think the person paying winery price is significantly more sane than the person who expects the deal of the day site to use anything other than winery price as their stated value on an offer.
@slowbie Very true, cant argue with that
@cbrehman @wine69 @slowbie To me, the value proposition is marginal, i.e., they’re “worth” about what I paid for them according to CT. But we’ve had other wines from Ty and Hearst Ranch that we’ve enjoyed and the Meadowcroft looks promising. So we’re not enthusiastic but no regrets. @davirom Yeah, that seems about right.
No complaints here

Similar to my previous experience on this site with mystery magnums, duplicates and questionable value.
Mags:
2 x 2007 Buoncrustiani Dolcetto di Nonno Dry Creek Valley
1 x 2022 Ty Caton Full Moon
750ml
2 x 2022 Hook and Ladder Pinot Noir
1 x 2022 Frogs Tooth petite sirah
Had hopes for more variety… but it did arrive a day early.
1x J. Dusi Zinfandel Dante Dusi Vineyard 2022
1x Vinum Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon The Insider 2021
2x Montepescini Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva 2018
Mags:
2x Meadowcroft Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder 2021
2x Sojourn Pinot Noir Nightwing Vineyard 2023
@bunnymasseuse
Those are some nice mags. If I were going to get dupes, I would want dupes like that!

@jrbw3
you uploaded an Apple HEIC format image.
No, those don’t work here.
jpg, gif, tiff, png all work just fine
Thanks, @rjquillin. I thought I had converted it to a JPEG but obviously I failed.
@jrbw3
send it off or whisper it to me and I’ll slug it in the op.
