Very fragrant! Passion fruit with floral notes of roses and honey spice. Flavors of tropical fruit, rich honey, and a hint of grassiness follow. The refreshing finish is framed by mild acidity. The wine is light and crisp. This is a white wine to enjoy on its own or with dishes that have some spicy heat like curried chicken or Thai shrimp salad. Pairs even better with your glass.
Vineyard Sources
We combine estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc with Gewurztraminer and a dash of Chardonnay from long-time grower Frank Johnson Vineyard. The blend puts all the best into the bottle from this friendly combination of three complementary grapes. The vintage brought us a wine showcasing excellent quality, great aromatics, and balanced acidity.

6x 2022 Pedroncelli Friends White, Sonoma County Case:
At Pedroncelli, wine is second nature to us. We love to entertain and share our stories over an easy-drinking glass of white wine. The friendships that develop are more important than the varietal or the shape of the glass. Here’s to friends!
For nearly a century, the Pedroncelli family has been crafting exceptional wines in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley. It all began in 1927 when John Pedroncelli, Sr. purchased a vineyard and a small winery west of Geyserville; two elements have remained unchanged since then - the exceptional place the Pedroncelli family farms their vineyards and their dedication to creating fine wines.
For nine decades, the Pedroncelli family has been producing wines of the highest quality, tradition, and heritage. Their commitment to excellence and their family-run business make them a trusted source of great wines - enjoy them with confidence.

Background, I am primarily a white drinker in the sauv blanc to pinot grigio range. I received the bottle last week and cracked it open Tuesday. We paired with some chicken piccata. The label says it is 61% sauv blanc, 33% gewurztraminer, and 6% chardonnay.
On first glance, the wine is typical sauv blanc: pale straw colored and clear.
I’m a bit congested, so I don’t pick up much on the nose. If anything, the dominate notes are of grasses.
The first sip is smooth. I get grass and honey. Then, the wine abruptly changes with the finish. (I don’t notice any tropical fruit as noted in the description). It turns into more of a chardonnay with butter dominating the palette. I don’t think I have had something change so unexpectedly from the initial taste to the finish. Frankly, it is a bit off putting. Both of us didn’t care for this bottle. I’ve always enjoyed everything Pedroncelli before, so I was a bit disappointed.
At this price, I wouldn’t argue with you if bought some, but don’t expect a great deal. Personally, I would prefer a cheap bottle from Costco, but you do you.
@kookie00 interesting. White blends like this can act pretty strange. I tend to not mind it and even find it “fascinating” as Leonard Nimoy would say. Though I haven’t tasted this one.
I’m betting the high % of Gewurz is what threw things off for you.
At this price and for Summer drinking or even cocktail blends I think this would work
@kookie00 Thank you. I was contemplating - who doesnt want a cheaper white to share over the summer? I figured I could tolerate only 6% chard, so when you said it finished with buttery Chard - hard pass. No can do.
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?

2022 Pedroncelli Friends White Wine - $20 = 19.99%
While I’m not a big advocate for Pedro Reds (I find the QPR to be out of balance), this is super interesting white blend with an unbelievable QPR at this price. Super crisp summer sipper and the Gewurtz/Chard addition bring a very unique flavor and nose to the party. In for a case…maybe 2?
Pool season, beeyatches!!! And worst case scenario is that I can make a ton of sangria. But, honestly, the Lab Rat review sounded delicious even if the Rat didn’t like it.
I have had previous versions of this wine both at the winery itself and from a woot or casemates order. This particular iteration is drier than I remember and therefore I like it a bit less on its own. It’s still a pleasant quaffer, just not as much of a crowd-pleaser. That said, it pairs great with a variety of foods and would be perfect for a potluck.
Color is pale straw. Will work on uploading photo.
Light floral aroma. To me, this is more sauv blanc heavy (makes sense at 60%), plus the gewurz bringing the floral notes. I found it pleasant but not exciting. I know there is a recommendation to pair with spicy food but I prefer a bit of off-dry for that purpose. If you prefer dry, you’re good! I had this with a couple meals (unconventional pairings for sure) - lasagna and baked chicken tenders. It actually did fine with both of these because the good acidity nicely cut through the fat. I think this would be fantastic with Brie or other soft cheese but I didn’t have any.
My husband found it was much more gewurz heavy to his palate, and said if you like that you will like this (but still dry). He paired it with tofu curry and also corn chowder and said it paired well with both. Concurred on acidity helping with fat.
I tend to think of this wine as more of a deck sipper but this particular iteration shines more as friendly to many different food pairings. Good for a potluck.
I picked up a half case of this with the last Ped Red/White Friend mix offering. Quite honestly, I found this white to be quite refreshing and different compared to the other whites my wife normally gets.
As of late though, I’ve grown a liking to the mixed Ped offerings. I just got a case of Ped Rose/White in the mail earlier this week.
As much as I would like to pick up some of this offering, I just don’t have the space. If I did, I would be all over a case.
@Drez143 I’m all in on this one. Pedroncelli is AUTOBUY for us!
I love the Gewurztraminer blend with the Sauvignon Blanc, even if it might be a drier mix. The Gewurz rounds out and adds body to the SB. The '21 didn’t have significant “cat pee” odor either, which is really helpful when drinking on the porch.
@Drez143
That’s actually something I rather appreciate from ‘smaller’ non-mass-assembly producers; a product that reflects the vintage and material they had to work with. Not just some homogenous grocery store mass produced grape juice.
But there is a place for consistency over vintages as well…

@pmarin Probably could work for cocktail blends.
Updating after it has been exposed to air for 24 hours.
It is better. It is smoother and the change is not as abrupt. It is still there just milder.

Last offer I found was for the '21 Vintage, this '22 offer is for a different blend.
@rjquillin Great catch and color me ignorant there! I didn’t think they would change up the blend year to year.

@Drez143 @rjquillin it doesn’t change much. We just added a tad of Chard to balance things out this year. Still most delightful!
Is Pedroncelli around? Curious as to RS on the 2022 blend if any.

@aces219 @rjquillin
I believe it’s around 5-8g (about 1/2 percent RS) nice and bright. Great balance. My summer wine!
This would be an easy buy for us— however, how accurate have the shipping dates been? We’ll be out until the 12th. Ugh!
@benguin986
Deliver to a UPS store or franchised location that will hold for a week,
not your residence, or a friend.
@rjquillin Thanks, RJ- that was my thought too, but was concerned it might ship a week early.
Opened one of the last of our 2021 Friends tonight, which put me squarely into the ordering camp. Those of you who haven’t had it- don’t wait!

Well, so much for not buying anything until I drink down the inventory. My excuse is that I’m low on whites. Works for me. In for a case.
Ped, need say no more

anyone received their wine yet? Mine was suppose to arrive yesterday but the UPS tracking isn’t clear on where it is?
