Very fragrant! Passion fruit with floral notes of roses and honey spice. Flavors of tropical fruit, rich honey, and a hint of grassiness follow. The refreshing finish is framed by mild acidity. The wine is light and crisp. This is a white wine to enjoy on its own or with dishes that have some spicy heat like curried chicken or Thai shrimp salad. Pairs even better with your glass.
Vineyard Sources
We combine estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc with Gewürztraminer and a dash of Chardonnay from long-time grower Frank Johnson Vineyard. The blend puts all the best into the bottle from this friendly combination of three complementary grapes. The vintage brought us a wine showcasing excellent quality, great aromatics, and balanced acidity.

6x 2022 Pedroncelli Friends White, Sonoma County Case:
At Pedroncelli, wine is second nature to us. We love to entertain and share our stories over an easy-drinking glass of white wine. The friendships that develop are more important than the varietal or the shape of the glass. Here’s to friends!
For nearly a century, the Pedroncelli family has been crafting exceptional wines in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley. It all began in 1927 when John Pedroncelli, Sr. purchased a vineyard and a small winery west of Geyserville; two elements have remained unchanged since then - the exceptional place the Pedroncelli family farms their vineyards and their dedication to creating fine wines.
For nine decades, the Pedroncelli family has been producing wines of the highest quality, tradition, and heritage. Their commitment to excellence and their family-run business make them a trusted source of great wines - enjoy them with confidence.

@Winedavid59 I bought right away but defaulted to wrong shipping address, I did submit a note on the order but wouldn’t mind if you could take a look when working next week. Otherwise this is going to my brothers place in the wrong state.
We had the unexpected pleasure of a last minute lab rat email. By happy coincidence, we received the wine yesterday and were already planning to host my parents for dinner, so we were able to get four opinions rather than two.
It won’t shock anyone to learn that the wine is (a) pretty good and (b) an excellent value. It’s Pedroncelli, duh, etc. But seriously – the list price is already more than fair for this bottle, and at 7-8 bucks a bottle it’s a steal.
First whiff of the wine gives definite fruity notes. I get a general “green” vibe right away. Mrs. Z finds it peachy at the beginning, whereas I get something more sharp. Initial sip is very buttery, but not in a cloying way. (I normally am annoyed by lots of malolactic fermentation in your standard American chardonnay, but this didn’t make me grumpy.)
Back notes are funkier and, to my taste, more interesting. Mom says it’s a “dry tone on the back,” while I would characterize it as being more mushroomy, almost forest-floor-ish. All agree that it starts off fruit-forward and then gets drier and more thought provoking at the bottom of the palate. (Dad just says, “it has a lot flavor,” which is a fairly high compliment from him.)
It definitely reads like “the kind of chardonnay your aunt likes,” but not in a way that will put off people like me who normally pooh-pooh that sort of thing. This bottle DEFINITELY wants to be served with something flavorful and/or pungent. Our dinner was Indian vegetarian – I made a spicy-ish dal tadka, Mrs. Z made saag paneer – and the wine paired beautifully with it. Mom says: “I wouldn’t want this wine with fish, but the sweetness makes it perfect with this meal.”
(I’m not totally sure I agree with her in calling it sweet, though I notice the gewurtz in there and I see where she’s coming from. Maybe let’s call it ‘rich mouthfeel’ or ‘faintly sticky’ or whatever – the point is that it really got along well with spicy food in the same way that an off-dry Reisling would, minus the actual sugar.)
Bottom line – good wine for a nice Spring dinner, especially if that dinner features some spice and some sharpness. TBH we weren’t really planning to buy any (we don’t go through that much white wine this time of year). But then I saw the price and, I mean, come on, how do we not buy a case? Even by Pedroncelli standards, the QPR here is a winner.
After reading this and the previous offer’s rattage, I’m in. An excellent time for those who bought the meh Xmas offer to ‘trycasemates’ to get to the mythical $5/bottle price point.
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?

2022 Pedroncelli Friends White Wine - $20 = 19.99%
I’ve been greatly scaling back my wine purchases over the past year, but I simply can’t pass this one up at this price.
We got to try the friends white and red jn a mix pack a year or two ago, and both were great casual drinkers.
Hello all!
I had the great fortune to Lab Rat again! I’ll start by saying I’ve always liked Pedroncelli wines and doubly so because of the value they always bring. This 2022 Friends White is a great every day drinker, especially if that day is warm. The wine has a very pale straw color. Out of the refrigerator, the nose is immediately floral and fruity. Upon further inspection notes of white peach, rose, honeydew, and passion fruit show. There are more subtle notes of honeysuckle and lemongrass. On to the taste test. The wine’s body is medium-light with medium acidity that is quite refreshing. Flavors include grapefruit, honeydew and passion fruit. Additional underlying flavors of flowers and even cream are also there.
I very much liked this wine as a sipper, but I liked it slightly more with food. I had a pan seared chicken breast with a shallot and paprika cream sauce. Herbed pearled couscous and roasted carrots. The wine did a great job of complimenting each part of the meal while providing enough pallet cleansing to enjoy each bite.
Overall a great daily drinker that blends each of its component grapes well, with each bringing some of their trademark characteristics. This blend I believe elevates this wine a bit compared to the more run of the mill daily whites because its fairly unique (in my experience at least) and makes for good conversation.
Value, value, value!
My wife loves drinking whites, but really hates anything sweet so I’m hesitant to pull the trigger. Might hold off hoping for a red/white mix case one day.
Got this offer a couple years ago. Not a great blend, wouldn’t buy again. Flabby, seemed low acid, like it was just worn out. Even when I open it at parties, it’s mostly left unconsumed. I feel their other wines offer better value.

IMHO.
@Winedavid59 +1 to this, my sentiments exactly
@Winedavid59 going to be out of town until the 22nd. Any risk this is delivered earlier than the estimated date on the offer?

Anyone in the Twin Cities area interested in splitting a case?
@kawichris650 I’m good on whites right now, but thanks for the ping.
@kawichris650 I too am well stocked with white wines at the moment. Killer price though!
I’d split. Any number up to six would be fine. You understand my situation. I couldn’t pick them up until sometime in May.
I stocked up on whites on BD, but I would be willing to take 3 or 4 bottles if any SoCal folks are interested.
@davirom I’m in. 8-4 split?
@davirom @losthighwayz
I’d take a couple if there’s room
@losthighwayz @rjquillin @losthighwayz Order in. I will keep 4. You guys work out what to do with the other 8. I can go down to 3 if that helps.

@davirom @losthighwayz
I’d only like a couple, the rest are for you two.
@davirom @rjquillin 6-4-2 split sounds good
Our first ever “two case” order! We go through this pretty quickly- down to 2 bottles of the 2022 and found 1 tucked away from 2021.
Thanks Pedroncellis and CM for the perfect timing!
