Bright aromas of strawberry, orange, rose petals, and spice. Full flavors of candied raspberry and cherry with a hint of white pepper spice. Refreshing, clean and crisp with a delicate berryspice finish. Our Dry Rosé is made to be enjoyed upon release.
Vintage and Winemaker Notes
We have been producing our zinfandel-based Rosé since 1954. Grapes for our Dry Rosé were harvested from the Pedroncelli home ranch and the Bushnell Vineyard. The area’s well-drained rocky soils, hillsides and excellent microclimate enable zinfandel to develop generous fruit flavors. The grapes were harvested between the end of August and the first of September.
The 2017 growing season brought more than enough rain in spring and great growing conditions during the summer. The result is excellent quality grapes with an intensity of aromas and good acidity. Over the years, we have refined our approach when it comes to the style of our Dry Rosé. The focus is on crisp acidity and true varietal character allowing the fruit flavors to shine.
After pressing the fruit, fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks until dry. Even though it is made in a dry style, the wine retains a hint of sweetness because of the fruitiness of the zinfandel grape. Bottled a few months after harvest, the wine captures the freshness of the vintage.
The year was 1927. President Calvin Coolidge captured the imagination of nobody. Babe Ruth hit home run after home run powered by little more than whiskey and sausage. And John Pedroncelli, Sr. bought a vineyard and winery in Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County. Since then, four generations of Pedroncellis have weathered Prohibition, wine booms and busts, and changing tastes. And they’re still a family-owned operation making acclaimed premium wines. Wherever you are now, Sultan of Swat and Silent Cal, this next glass is for you.

Can someone confirm this is the 2017 that was here last fall, and not a new vintage for sale. I know it says 2017, but I also know sometimes the marketing verbiage gets recycled.
I’ve been buzzing through a case of the 2017 from the last offer, down to a few left. No tasting notes but a quick and dirty impression. Although certainly a summer sipper I find it has a little more depth and heft to it than some summer sippers that puts it in a food friendly category as well.
This appears to be the first vintage of this wine with the signature selection designation. Can someone tell me how that differentiates this rose from others of the family? Thanks
@Kildahl It has been Signature Selection since the 2011 vintage. It may not have been listed that way here, but no changes here. Same great, refreshing Rosé we’ve been making since 1954!
Just checked my inventory and it says that I have 4 btls of 2013!! Yikes, Ed stated that it’s ready to drink upon release. Someone in 2017 gave the 2013 a 91, so maybe I’m not in trouble. I’ve got a ton of summer sippers that need to be sipped this summer plus I have a SIWBM weakly in place. Ed, you’ve created a dilemma here!! Will wait to hear from family and NE OH Mates.
In the mean time, I’ve got to find the 2013 and give it a quick sip! Now I wish I would have numbered my boxes!
@Boatman72 While I wouldn’t recommend aging this wine, it does develop some wonderful characteristics in the bottle. The wild strawberry aroma moves more toward strawberry jam. It develops a nice caramel (not dark carmel, just that nice sort of creme brulee type). Let’s change the menu up a bit. BBQ Spare Ribs with a KC style sauce. (a little sweeter, and a nice bit of spice). I think you’ll be surprised and delighted. You could also use this wine in a Negroncelli. You can find the recipe here.
Since we got 6 inches of snow yesterday in Chicago, that must mean that summer is coming…any excuse I can create to pull the trigger on some Pedroncelli products…whatever it takes. I’m in.
@HitAnyKey42@Winedavid49 Thanks to you and Ed for the offering - my supply was running low. Pedroncelli rose is the Official Beverage of the Washington, DC Cherry Blossom Festival…at my house, anyway. I’m working on everyone else, one bottle at a time.
@connorbush@InFrom It was the coupon code that came with the 4 packs of Casemates glasses that sold on Meh in February. You got 2 $8 coupons with a 4 pack of glasses for $16.
@losthighwayz I also ordered the case of OTL last week or I would be in. We tried one bottle of the OTL and actually thought it was pretty good. Not real complex but a pleasant summer drinker. Thought the initial strawberry taste was interesting, but enjoyed it.
@normanl0 true, the rats were pretty spot on. It did have some weight to it. Only thing I do not like is a slight bite that I get at the end. Plus Could use a tad more acidity for my taste but definitely not complaining at under $7 delivered!
@sosptuba You know as a Casemates buyer you always have Club discounts at your dispose. Just be sure to order a minimum of 12 bottles (can be mixed) to receive the greatest benefit. Give Colin a call in the office to be sure he flips the switch so you can order online. 800-836-3894
Oh, wow!!! This issue of Pedroncelli Rose is the BOMB! Damn, I wish I’d ordered 2 cases, no joking. This is a dry rose (rare in the wild,) wildly flavorful, damn!
@cbl_wv
In retrospect, I would have much preferred the Pedroncelli Rose for a few $ more than the OTP but who knew that would be coming up? You rolls the dice and takes your chances…

@frankster14 At least you can easily chill a bottle.
@canonizer @frankster14 nah it’s 64 degrees out today
I’m 42 years old and have never purchased a bottle of Rosé .

@browncj7 You poor, deprived, sheltered child.
@pedroncellifam — Well, this will determine if we ever do again
Anyone from the NoVA crew put in a case order yet? Check the NoVA thread for the post I just made and respond there.
@HitAnyKey42 Thanks for the heads up! I purchased two cases…and I’m not sharing.
@HitAnyKey42 @kkv123 KKV123 in the house!

@catcoland @connorbush @InFrom were the coupon codes in the box? I just realized I threw the box away after taking the glasses out and I’m a giant dummy
@Asparagus @catcoland @InFrom They were just posted on the item page. The coupon is the same for everyone I believe.

In for 6, and would be willing to part with some of them if anyone in PDX wants two or three.
Purchased a case of the OTL rose last week otherwise would be in. The OTL was ok imo
Oh well
@losthighwayz just got it on Saturday, have not tried it yet.
@ttboy23 let me know your thoughts

Summer is coming…

Case ordered.

Anyone in Dallas want to do a split?
Shoot, I just ordered two cases in the blind without reading comments or reviews.
What have I done?!?
@furrygoat Made a great decision. I’ve not had this particular wine; however, consensus seems to be that it is yummy.
@furrygoat What is your concern…24 bottles is barely a month’s supply?!
YAY! I’ve been waiting for Pedroncelli Rose.
/giphy radical-perceptive-airplane
IN for a case…hoping for an offer of friends.white in the future as well

Long time listener, first time caller. How does this compare to Whispering Angel?
@amylynnesq Pedroncelli is a great wine at the retail price. this deal? well worth it. thanks for checking in!
@amylynnesq @Winedavid49 I think its best to let others answer this question. I’m a bit biased…

Very freaking good. It’s dry without being acidic. Definitely getting two next time. We’re devouring this as fast as we do North by Northwest’s stuff!
