We have a couple news mentions and I went on the radio yesterday. I’ll always remember the 2004 Woot launch feelings but still this is exciting. Thanks for creating the buzz everyone!
@snapster This actually demonstrates another likely issue when we start scheduling gatherings, and tracking attendees.
The list will change.
Disabling the 5 minute edit “feature” and allowing unlimited time editing on the first post would be a tidy way for the OP to keep the event list updated.
@CorTot Maria also someone who’s followed us since Woot so it was nice she found this newsworthy. I’ve enjoyed talking to her about Amazon’s chances of picking DFW area for it’s HQ2 (low), but of course I’m in no position to know anything insider-ish anymore.
Thanks was going to post this one. It’s interesting to see the variability of fact checking on articles. The Forbes one (I’ll post next) for instance is horrible where this one is pretty accurate.
@jaybird I find humor in the dumbest things too. Most of these articles state rutledge founded woot, woot started selling wine, amazon bought woot for $110 million. etc.
I interpret that to say ‘some guy we don’t know, founded some site we’re unfamiliar with, but amazon paid a lot of money for it so we should have known about it and now we have to justify writing about it’.
edit * I’m sure that my interpretation is incorrect, however i make things up on the regular and thought i’d share this one
Radio spot (KRLD news radio that covered Woot launch in 2094) audio here (7 minutes) http://dfw.cbslocal.com/audio/ceo-spotlight/matt-rutledge-ceo-founder-mediocre-laboratories-woot-meh-casemates/
@snapster You want me to edit that so it’ll say 2004 instead?
@narfcake ha, no lets let it be the example of the horrible risks of no-preview.
@snapster
@snapster back to the future!

Do what you know, and do what you do best… Now as for T-shirts
@jml326 every month closer to 1 year I enjoy our poll more over there.
@snapster You’re lucky that there are other sites that sell catshirts. And hey, as long as a Rutledge gets paid …

@snapster Woot.Wine indeed.

@snapster parts of this article almost sounded as if a computer had written them using an algorithm.
@jbartus
But only using Forbes-tech for the AI English.

@jaybird wait. Who is Matt Rutledge?
@baqui63 Never met him, must not be someone important.
How about some Laughing Squid to go with breakfast octopus. https://laughingsquid.com/casemates-direct-online-wine-sales/
Italy!

@narfcake Can’t find a single error in this one.
@denboy
“Correva l’anno 2004 - preistoria, per certi versi - quando Mike Rutledge fondò Woot.com…”
My Italian sucks, but I’m pretty sure Mike is Italian for… Mike.
Unless you were being sarcastic… in which case
/giphy missed the sarcasm
@baqui63
/giphy sarcasm is hard
It’s crazy how obvious that error was. If it was only something in Italian it would look like a brilliant article.
