The 2021 vintage produced a concentrated and bold Cabernet Sauvignon featuring characters of strawberry rhubarb pie, black pepper, clove, and fresh blueberry. The palate leads to flavors of baked fig, mild cigar box, and blackcurrant framed by a bold, gravelly tannin structure provided by a small percentage of Petite Sirah. A touch of oak finishes the palate with an elegant balance between tannin, acidity, and body.
Fine Wine For Everyone
Nothing is more important than quality. It’s what’s in the bottle that counts.
At Slingshot, our singular goal is to bring you a great bottle of Napa Valley wine at a reasonable price. We’re not interested in perplexing you. Wine is about enjoying the experience.
Our attitude borders on irreverent. Slingshot is about putting your best foot forward while forgetting about fitting into the mold or following the rules. Be bold, be adventurous, choose your own path, and above all remember to have fun.
That’s what we aim for with every bottle of Slingshot. Great wine for sticking up for the little guy; even better for relaxing with friends.
All Slingshot wines begin with premium fruit from the Napa Valley and North Coast, much of it harvested from our own Juliana Vineyards where we strive through sustainable methods to grow quality fruit for generations to come. We don’t compromise when it comes to grapes because we’re committed to giving our customers sophisticated, approachable wine at a great price.
Slingshot is a family effort shepherded by James Stewart, Caroline Stewart Guthrie and family winemaker, Blair Gurthrie. Together, they join their peers in focusing on issues surrounding sustainability, preservation, labor practices and maintaining family-owned businesses. Slingshot reflects the Stewart family’s ambition to preserve a vital family enterprise and practice meaningful land stewardship—both while producing fine wine from premium vineyards.

Ah yes, an oldie but goodie. Blast from the past. Where is Fred (Rinaldi) indeed.
Happy to receive a bottle of this last week so it was able to settle.
I have to say, this is good. Maybe not great but solid and even better than expected especially for the price. ($10 less on 6 from last time)
Smells really nice upon opening, ripe strawberry and some spices. A small amount of time for air in the glass is suggested but no need to decant or cellar this. Medium bodied, berry fruit, some oak and subtle tannin and good acid. I get some hint of like a black olive almost briny flavor on the finish but it ends a little short and light. Kind of a… sweet and savory wine. Pretty well balanced with not a lot of alcohol but body/tannin/acid/fruit don’t overpower one another.
It went well with food and I enjoyed every sip and looked forward to the next one. I don’t think it would be great by itself because its on the lighter side and not super complex and kind of needs something to go with.
Definitely well made and for the price you can’t go wrong. I think it would be worth $15-20 maybe more.
Thanks guys
I was so excited to get the email from Alice that I get to be a Lab Rat again! I was able to get this bottle pretty far in advance which gave me some time to get some good tastes in with this wine! So, first we have the color a very deep, jewel-toned, purple made me think of heavy brocade curtains for some reason. I didn’t get much on the nose from this wine. It was a bit musty, in a good way, and I could smell some of the currant and cranberry flavors as well. On my first sip I definitely got the sweetness and fruit upfront with a smooth, yet dry finish. I picked up hints of vanilla on the back end. Very high tannins and as I was first drinking it, I definitely was wishing I had some food to help this wine along. I decided to take this bottle to a friend’s for Easter and got to taste this along with some ham and tons of holiday sides. This worked okay with the rich ham and it was much easier to drink it with food, but I could tell this wine would have done better with something that didn’t bring so much of its own sweetness to the table (oh well). I think this is a good Cab that works well with food, but I wouldn’t pick this bottle to just sip on its own. A couple of years set away, will probably help this even more. Happy Drinking!

2021 Slingshot Cabernet Sauvignon - $20 = 12.50%
@kaolis It is an interesting quirk that it can both be “100% Cab” and also contain a small percentage of PS. I don’t think it is attempted deception, but rather within the confines of how it can be represented. Still, my recoiling at 110%-effort style of speech, might find it to be more agreeable to say Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon.

Where’s Fred?
@rjquillin
Red Said Fred.
Hope he’s doing well.

I believe it was “Cab said Fred”.
I wonder if he still lurks here.

the “small percentage of Petite Sirah” mentioned is noted as 10% in a couple of spots… but who cares right?! That’s it for useless information
fwiw

This was always a household favorite, thought we would never see it again. Thanks WD
@ttboy23 …except for last year, lol
CMH split anyone? This has always been an enjoyable wine. Have had a few past vintages over the years. Used to be a glass pour at my restaurant
No was thinking of getting 6 as the price break isn’t too bad. I don’t really need any wine but… ya know. You want to split 12?
