Wine with an intense ruby color, and very well-marked fruitiness, but it also has well-integrated notes provided by the American oak barrel. Intense tannins and a very friendly retro taste, which makes it perfect for all types of palates.
VIEW - It has a bright brick color, very clean, and with good intensity.
NOSE - Aromas of cherries, blackberries, cinnamon, pepper, fig jam, walnuts, and eucalyptus are perceived.
MOUTH - With an intense and long retro taste in the mouth. Elegant tannins and balanced acidity.
Elaboration
We select our best Malbec grapes from the entire surface of the vineyard, to undergo cold maceration and then alcoholic fermentation with high but controlled temperatures. It then rests in barrels to age for 18 months, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Pairing
Pairs well with red meats, long-cooked or fatty meats such as pork, intense meats such as lamb, aged cheeses, and pasta.

Villa Petriolo, one of the oldest wine houses in Europe, in its expansion adventure set out to find in the New World the best lands where it could establish its base and cultivate a fruit that would allow it to continue its legend.
With the aim of perpetuating their quality and characteristics of excellence beyond their geographical borders, they find in the Bajío mountain range the altitude, climate and quality of land conducive to continuing their legacy.
It is then that they begin the construction of Viñedo San Miguel, inheriting its virtues and values, thus ensuring that the process and the result are consistent with its tradition of more than 400 years.
Dedicated to preserving knowledge and focused on improving the experience to honor the legacy, Viñedo San Miguel exalts the artisanal process and the details from cultivation to its aging and storage processes, so that from its conception to its maturation it bears the seal and the values of the CUADRA FAMILY.

@ilCesare
I’m questioning the link, given the label uploads.
The winery makes a “blend” with the CT label depicted in the entry, but also the Malbec as described.
Dunno CT can be quite gigo.
@mattykillpatty I was just going to ask what “retro taste”, and fortunately, you were already there. I’m thinking it may mean that it quite possibly could taste like green shag carpet?
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?
(Note: tax and shipping are not included in savings calculations.)
2018 Viñedo San Miguel Malbec Reserva - $30 = 19.99%
@diman@marjoryk fwiw that link appears to be for the regular bottling not this reserva but vivino reviews seem to be haphazard or whatever I’m trying to say… ha!
@diman@kaolis yes I did notice that after I posted it, but if you scroll down you can click on this one. I do agree about the reviews tho. Idk. I was looking for something.
FWIW…this is one of the best Malbecs I’ve ever tasted.
Slightly hot on the nose, cherry compote, slight oak and a hint of vanilla. Super smooth, dry, bold, dark cherry and again, slight oak and a heavy finish on the tongue…the fruit overpowers the alcohol.
So far, we have had this wine with grilled tenderloins in a reduced demi-glacé, seasoned pork chops with a heavy cheesy polenta and pasta with a hearty puttanesca…stood up proud and complemented all the dishes. Best to decant a few hours prior but not necessary. Also great by itself and a fine bar of chocolate.
If I could go back in time, I would have maxed out on cases.

Build the wall
@digerifoo2 Save our malls
@digerifoo2 you probably ought to be posting this idiotic comment somewhere else.
@digerifoo2 @vandemusser I think it was a joke based on the wine’s country of origin. Or so I would like to believe.
@digerifoo2 @InFrom @vandemusser Ditto

@marjoryk ty! somehow I missed this link when searching online earlier.

@diman @kaolis @marjoryk Here’s that Reserva link: https://www.vivino.com/US/en/vinedo-san-miguel-reserva-malbec/w/8167781
@diman @marjoryk @TimW To my point if you scroll through those reviews many are not for this 2018 reserva. Vivino reviews are meh at best…
@diman @kaolis @marjoryk @TimW They also don’t seem to distinguish between vintages as much as one might like.
No rats?
