VMP Coupons
4I think it would be helpful if either @snapster or @Winedavid49 (if this is even your deal, David, not sure whose purview it falls under) could provide some clarity on the issue of the 3x $10 coupons offered to existing VMP members backing at the $60 level. It’s being asked about in several locations at this point and I worry that some may miss the answer if it’s not covered overtly in a top-level thread.
From what I’ve seen there are two prevailing questions being asked which are as follows:
- Early Bird - Do existing VMP members who sprung for the Early Bird offering on Kickstarter qualify for this offer? (i.e. the having cake and eating it too option of getting a $10 discount on VMP plus another $30 in coupons)
- Higher Pledges - Do existing VMP members who have opted to back for higher tier pledges qualify for this offer or must they explicitly back for a year of VMP, backing further additionally for the party invitation and/or remote party pack as desired. (i.e. someone seeking to get the coupons and a party pack would need to pledge a total of $160 to get a) the party pack, b) the coupons, and c) (as a side effect) a year of VMP)
No dog in this hunt for me as I’m just happy to help Casemates become a reality but I felt it was important to (hopefully) get a centralized answer for people.

@dave I have similar questions about those of us coming from WCC directly and aren’t existing VMP members. I backed at the $100 level initially, and was waiting for confirmation on the other details before adding in the extra $50 for the VMP, since I was well into the earlybird time frame as backer #42.
@klezman Yeah, it’s not ideal but because we can only limit the Early Bird level, we’re not able to let people use the Early Bird amount on other levels. So it needs to be an additional $60 on the $100 level to join VMP.
@dave Please say, in little tiny words, precisely how to add the $60 to the current $100 pledge I’d already made. I’ve never done anything with Kickstarter before (and I admit I gave you the hundred smackers because I wanted the K badge). Unlike the regular Meh stuff, I can see it being advantageous to pay ahead for shipping. I like wine; it’s a simple, innocent pleasure, and it’s nice to know I can have choices outside of the SE Washington, and I trust Wine David to have some decent suggestions.
@Shrdlu Hi. You can add $60 to the bit you did say you may get us by way of a tap on the ivy-hue box at the top of the www…
Ok, sorry, I don’t think I’m going to be able to Mad Ape Den my way through this. Go to the Kickstarter page:
and click “Manage your pledge”. Then click “Change Your Pledge” and type in a Pledge amount that is $60 higher (ie $160) and hit “Continue”
“little tiny words”
@dave So are you saying it would have been a better move for me to take the early bird VMP then add $100 for the remote party level? Sorry for being dense…
@klezman Again, I’ll say this isn’t an ideal solution but I’ll try to explain why that wouldn’t work.
The problem here is that both the Remote Party Level and the Early Bird VMP are very limited, likely to sell out, quantities. Kickstarter doesn’t let you back at two levels, so we can’t ‘reserve’ that limited spot for you in two levels. So the only way we can do this is to have you reserve at the $100 level and then pay the $60 VMP add-on. (Technically the $60 is also limited, but it’s much less likely to sell out and we can more easily deal with adding on individuals at that level.)
@dave Ah, so what I really should have done was have molarchae go in for one while I went in for the other Too bad kickstarter doesn’t let you set a limit across categories. C’est la vie.
Also, I assume the VMP is renewable going forward as long as we want it to be, and not limited to a single year?
@dave Okey dokey. Now I’m giving you $160 instead of $100. I just now noticed that there was a “Remote Launch Party” option. Dammit, where was that? I wasn’t planning on attending the actual party (but I’m not giving up my slot, because it’s mine, mine, mine).
@klezman Yep, not limited to a single year, just pre-paid for that first year.
…and I just now checked, and I’d cleverly signed up for the thing I wanted (unless someone changed it magically, and if they did, that’s fine too). Someone will ship me a party (and there’s no doubt they’ll reach the funding goal, since they were about 6K away when I last looked).
@Shrdlu
@Dave told me somewhere or other (broadcast thread on Meh perhaps?) that folks who signed up for the CA tent party, and who then could not attend, could then have the option of the remote party pack.
So win-win? I guess.
Tho I would be kinda shocked to find self attending a party where I didn’t already know people f2f, even if it were only down the block.
@f00l And I’m assuming it’ll work the other way as well. Signed up for remote, but if there’s a chance to have another afternoon/evening with WD & Co in person, I’m in!
@klezman
Then you might wanna switch your pledge to the f2f party? Not certain.
I’m kinda thinking easier to add another party pack than to add to a real launch party guest list.
@Dave?
@f00l Sounds like it’s not until April or so, but we’ll see. Hard to know whether I can go up in person this far in advance.
Also got the pledge up to the proper $160 to get the VMP and $30 coupons.
@shawn I’m surprised you didn’t code a smaller font for answering that one…
@klezman Unless you have another account that already has vmp I wouldn’t count on those coupons.
@Pantheist Those of us who have been long time wine.wooters and signed up on the Wine Country Connect email list also get that bonus. Existing VMPs aren’t the only ones eligible for a “loyalty bonus”.
@klezman @f00l Yeah, I’d advise switching the other way - sign up for the real party, then if you can’t make it we’ll get you a remote party pack.
@klezman cool. Just trying to help as I only saw the email I got.
Still confused. If I bought the $50 VMP and received the WCC email, do I get the coupons? Somebody please clarify.
Ok, I changed my pledge to the remote party pack($100) and added another 60$ for the VMP for a total of $160. Did I do it right?
@mtb002 If not, we did it wrong together.
Me, too
@mtb002 me three
@mtb002 per @dave yes
@mtb002 Aha, I just went back and added the $60 too. Hope this all works out!
I’m confused. If I am VMP and sign up at $60 do I not get billed my $5 a month for VMP for a year? The way this reads if non VMPs sign up they get a “free year of VMP” so $5x12=60 makes sense.
If I back you at $60 is that just like prepaying my VMP for a year or are you still going to additionally bill me $5 every month on top?
@bdp you will pre pay for vmp for a year, and get 3 $10 coupons
@bdp Right, you wouldn’t get billed for 12 months.
Seems like a great deal if you intended to keep VMP for another year anyway. Thanks much.
@bdp This is me … not a wine drinker at all + plan to keep VMP forever (which I hope is longer than a year) + $30 in coupons & a(nother) tee-shirt + believe in the Mediocre experiment models & want to see them succeed = Profit!
