@yorkrk Great! Last time we were through that area it was for apple picking a few months ago, and it surprised me how many tasting rooms were along the 78.
2016 Folie a Deux Cabernet, Alexander Valley.
Don’t know where I got it or when, but it’s Monday.
Surprisingly good @ Pop-N-Pour. A little sweet,
but good.
Checked cellartracker, and at $15, it’s a great
Monday night wine.
2013 Clayhouse Cabernet Sauvignon (from April, 2018 purchase). I’m thinking that this was a great value at A$11.25/bottle and 6 bottles (of the 9 I ended up with) to go.
@rjquillin I thought is was good. I didn’t take formal notes though. I have 2-3 more I think. They came from Bevmo as part of their 5 cent sale, roughly at $15 each. Bevmo isnt known for quality juice in the 5 cent sale but it stuck out as a known producer and single vineyard so I grabbed a coupon and went on down to the ol’ bevmo.
Last night I had a kitchen sink blend-- some of the Wine Smith Norton (which was sound, but to me uninspiring), some '15 Apothic Dark, and a dash of Wine Smith Grenache (which again was sound, but not by itself to my taste; it really gave the blend some nice highlights, though).
Recently I’ve had a couple of really nice bottles: a '12 Coquerel Petite Sirah, and a '12 Laura Michael Dry Creek Zin. If I could drink like that all the time, I’d be supremely satisfied. And I’ve got a '13 Trinitas Old Vine Petite Sirah queued up for tonight.
@klezman It’s been open over a week now, and 5 days since last tasted. Half bottle left and still improving.
Only 3 in CT, but I think I accidentally double ordered and have 6.
I had a wtfn evening.
Went digging in some containers that I had moved to Missouri and came up with a 2002 Dominique Portet Heathcote Cabernet Sauvignon that I had purchased almost 8 years ago, and decided it was time to open it up. Rather enjoyable, as I tend to find Australian wines too much “in your face”.
2004 Turley Moore Earthquake Vineyard Zinfandel. Should be interesting at 15 years young and 16.3% alcohol.
It’s surprisingly young, lots of fruit, nice complexity, and not overtly alcoholic.
2013 Baker Lane Syrah Estate Vineyard
NV Twisted Oak Cockamamie
Last night was a 2016 Pedroncelli Cabernet Sauvignon.
2107 Petite Sirah from Old Julian Vineyard, Ramona Valley AVA. I’m a bit biased, my brother is the wine maker there, but it’s some pretty good stuff.
@yorkrk I’ll try to swing through there next time we’re in Julian! I’ve heard PS grows well in that area.
@radiolysis Another good source of PS out here is Edwards Vineyards & Winery.
@yorkrk Great! Last time we were through that area it was for apple picking a few months ago, and it surprised me how many tasting rooms were along the 78.
2013 Wellington Cabernet Franc Baron Vineyard. It’s the only Wellington I have with a gold foil.
2016 Folie a Deux Cabernet, Alexander Valley.
Don’t know where I got it or when, but it’s Monday.

1997 Chateau Potensac
@klezman K&L?
@rjquillin yeah, a few years ago. This is my last bottle.
enjoyed quite a few bottles over the weekend with lots of family.
2016 Campesino Alina
2016 Bryter Estates Pinot Noir Jubilee Rose
2017 Fossil Point Rose
NV Trader Joe’s Réserve Brut Rosé North Coast
2013 Rosenblum Cellars Zinfandel Rockpile Road Vineyard
2015 Château Saint-Roch (Languedoc) Côtes du Roussillon Villages Chimères
2007 Moran Manor Anagram
2013 Aril Syrah Atlas Peak
@CorTot How was the Rosenblum? I keep seeing them offered from, I think TWS sales events, but generally not all that impressed with the notes.
source?
@rjquillin I thought is was good. I didn’t take formal notes though. I have 2-3 more I think. They came from Bevmo as part of their 5 cent sale, roughly at $15 each. @CorTot Not that I need more, but there is a Bevmo nextdoor to the GO I frequent.
2012 Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva
@klezman
How is that drinking?
@ScottW58 my first bottle. Quite good. Lots of stuffing for another decade most likely.
@klezman
At least, I just started drinking some 2010’s
@ScottW58 this is my oldest vintage unfortunately
A very nice rosso with burgers.
2007 Boudreaux Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
2013 Pedroncelli Zinfandel Mother Clone Dry Creek Valley
With a corn soup i’m working on.
2010 Tercero Syrah White Hawk Vineyard
The last round of TG turkey for now…
Last night I had a kitchen sink blend-- some of the Wine Smith Norton (which was sound, but to me uninspiring), some '15 Apothic Dark, and a dash of Wine Smith Grenache (which again was sound, but not by itself to my taste; it really gave the blend some nice highlights, though).

Life is good.
2010 Twisted Oak Carignane
2013 Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 6
2014 Wind Gap Wines Chardonnay Sonoma Coast
@rjquillin very nice! How is it!
Also, are you feeling ok? It’s less than a decade old!
@klezman It’s been open over a week now, and 5 days since last tasted. Half bottle left and still improving.
Only 3 in CT, but I think I accidentally double ordered and have 6.
I had a wtfn evening.
@rjquillin that 2014 wind gap is really pretty good…
2013 Frisson Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
2016 Scott Harvey Mountain Selection Barbera, Amador County with garlic/tomato bread and pork chop parmigiana.
@karenhynes
hmmm sounds good!
Beer. Really good beer. At a place called Father’s Office for company happy hour.
@klezman that’s the place with the fancy hamburgers, no?
ohhh love Father’s Office! great burgers in fact best burgers in the city imho
@ScottW58 the burgers are good but they’d be better if they used Flannery beef!
@klezman
I thought you didn’t like flannery burgers cause you can’t figure out how too cook them?
@ScottW58 Practice makes perfect
I avoid the really fatty blends because I can’t keep the tasty delicious fat inside the burger though.
Any Chicago peeps been to Capo’s for the feast of 7 fishes pizza?? Notes please
@ScottW58 that’s not a sentence. Fish pizza is about as awful as a pizza can get, let alone 7 fish…
@ScottW58
Feast of seven fishes pizza? Is that a thing?
2013 Wellington Chardonnay, last of these.
@CorTot Clearly you didn’t purchase enough then…
@rjquillin we had plenty. And if you have some there is no need to hold. Its definitely losing freshness.
@CorTot Just losing freshness; any gain in interest?
I’ve had some pretty astounding old chards.
@rjquillin how many of these do you have?
@CorTot @rjquillin I’ve got 3 of 11 remaining.
Ron’s CT says he has 30 remaining.
@CorTot @klezman @rjquillin
Good god!
@CorTot @klezman @ScottW58
And it needs a reduction update.
I’m not known to keep these highly accurate.
2010 Provenance Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard
Added some of those Holy Grail American Wagyu Tajima Hibachi Steaks to go with the To-Kalon
@PatrickKarcher thanks
Finishing up a whiskey cocktail, then, with home dry aged steak:
2010 Bell Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
OMG!
@ScottW58 Naw, Merlot, age?
Looks like you done well.
@rjquillin I made a mistake I should have taken a second out on my house and bought more
@ScottW58 Well, work got in the way and I got zip from that sale.
Don’t know where I’d have put them anyway.
@rjquillin @ScottW58 when we making an evening out of it?
