Introducing BRUSCOTTO, the easy-to-enjoy red wine with ripe fruit flavors and bubbly character that make it ideal to sip and serve with a wide variety of food - the spicier the better.
This Syrah-based red blend is crafted in the frizzante style with about 2/3rds of the bubbly character of traditional sparkling wines. This effervescence enhances the ripe fruit flavors and aromas, especially with the absence of heavy tannins often found in red wines.
After harvesting and pressing the Syrah, the winemakers allowed 3 days of skin contact with no fermentation to extract the rich colors and flavors. A portion of the juice was drawn off and a primary yeast fermentation was initiated in a custom-made, pressurized steel tank. No sugar was added, and the bubbles were produced naturally and remained in the wine. The cold temperatures extended the fermentation to almost 6 months and preserved the natural aromatics. The result is a deliciously different red wine with refreshing acidity, balanced ripe fruit sweetness, and a clean finish.
100+ Years. 5 Generations.
200,000,000+ glasses poured.
Our familyâs winemaking tradition began in 1883 when our Great Great Grandfather Salvatore Dominic Scotto began making wine at home, in the old Italian tradition, on the island of Ischia for family and friends.
Family winemakers have always been the backbone of Americaâs vineyards and wineries, especially in Lodi, the heart of Californiaâs wine country. Fifth generation vintners Anthony Scotto III, his brothers Paul, Michael and sister Natalie carry on the Scotto winemaking tradition as their grandfather and father did before them. Scotto Family Cellars is a collection of signature wines reflecting the finest attributes of their historic Lodi appellation.

I was delighted to get an email from Alice on Tuesday telling me wine was on the way, but a delay from UPS meant it didnât get here until Thursday.
I was a little surprised to open the box and see a bottle of sparkling red. I immediately put it in the fridge to chill so we could try it this evening.
Iâm not a big sparkling wine drinker, so I apologize for the shortness of this review.The cork came out relatively easily with a very slight pop. The nose was strawberries and sweet fruit. There were a good amount of bubbles on top, but it didnât constantly rise like in a champagne. (Which after a quick google search for frizzante, I was informed they are semi-sparkling).
The first few sips were quite sweet with a dry finish. I donât think it is quite as sweet as the Proseccos I have had. And it definitely has a crisp finish. There were a lot of bright fruit flavors: strawberry, red cherry, and concord grape. It wasnât particularly complex to my palette, but I drink sparkling wines about once a year.
I wish I hadnât just finished my bottle of Campari earlier this week, I would have tried this in a Negroni Sbagliato. Seems like it would have worked really well. I would say I would be as likely to drink this as any other sparkling, Iâve tried. It was tasty enough, just not something Iâm in the mood to drink often.
@firstgeer So, initial impression is sweet/fruity, but itâs actually a dry finish? It would seem to be a dry wine by the RS listed.
This is another instance where a little particpation from the winery would be helpful. I mean, heartwarming videos about the family brand are nice and all, but donât offer much insight into the wine being presented today.
@InFrom I find most dry champagne (or sparkling whites) to be sweet. My tastes run much more to dry. Most whites are too sweet for me to enjoy. I donât go outside of Pinot Grigio, Pinot Gris & Sauvignon Blanc for a white very often.
@firstgeer Negroni Sbagliato, thatâs a new one for me! I really enjoy Campari and Aperol drinks,especially in the summer(or winter in SoFlo!đ) If using this red sparkler do you think you would skip the vermouth?
Pleasantly surprised by this darker red sparkling wine. First appearance, I was thinking itâs a sweet wine. However, once I tasted, I was absolutely intrigued.
Never having a âredâ sparkling wine, and not quite sure what to expect, the end result was absolute delight.
A heavier wine than a rose, but not overly heavy.
I donât think I would bring this out for a summer afternoon on the lake. But I would definitely serve with an early appetizer, or even an after dinner glass by the fire.
Dryer than I expected. Which I prefer.
Great finishing taste of tart cherry and blackberries came to mind.
@DaveSanborn@FritzCat I love a good Lambrusco, and a nice Aussie sparkling Shiraz ainât bad either. And what was that thing, many years ago from w.woot? Hoping this is good, whatever the heck it is!
@DaveSanborn@FritzCat@klezman@rjquillin@Winedavid49 Yes, it keeps bubbling up. In part b/c the second Rat dropped in after the offer had closed, which stimulated further conversation. And also just because, red bubbles!

@firstgeer Luv the bubbles. And how about that (palette).
@ttboy23 Yeah, really shouldnât type these after a 15 hour day during tax season.
@firstgeer @ttboy23
and the palette strike again
@firstgeer @rjquillin @ttboy23 Or is that the palate police? Or the pallet police?
@firstgeer So, initial impression is sweet/fruity, but itâs actually a dry finish? It would seem to be a dry wine by the RS listed.

@firstgeer Thanks. You made me look up Negroni Sbagliato, and now I want one! No Campari in the house, sadly.
@firstgeer Negroni Sbagliato, thatâs a new one for me! I really enjoy Campari and Aperol drinks,especially in the summer(or winter in SoFlo!đ) If using this red sparkler do you think you would skip the vermouth?
@mrn1 I would probably still use the vermouth, they are normally made with Prosecco so would still stand up I believe.
@firstgeer Iâve always been a sucker for a fruity, red sparkler with a dry finish

Maybe the mods need to put in an autocorrect function?!
@woopdedoo Just for the homophones of âpalateâ?
@InFrom yes

Yeah, just had a sparkling Pinotage with a pizza and
a Greek salad. Canât go wrong with tonightâs offer on
a Friday evening. Iâm in for a case.
I was in at 7 AM this morning! Have had quite a few like this in Europe. Excited!

@DaveSanborn Like LambrucoâŠReunite is as American as Chef Boyardee ravioli. The real ones are very goodâŠMmmm with tortellini en brodoâŠ

@DaveSanborn @FritzCat Ah, found it! From back in 2010. I was picturing a W on the label, when in fact it was an M. https://wine.woot.com/offers/mumm-napa-sparkling-trio-three-pack
Iâd love to see that one come back! @Winedavid49
@DaveSanborn @FritzCat @InFrom @Winedavid49 And/or the Harvest Moon sparking Zins and Pinots.
@DaveSanborn @FritzCat @klezman @Winedavid49 Oh yeah I forgot about those.
@DaveSanborn @FritzCat @InFrom @klezman @Winedavid49
Canât say I ever recall this level of carry-on chatter after an offer closed and before discussion began on those mystery cases.
@DaveSanborn @FritzCat @klezman @rjquillin @Winedavid49 Yes, it keeps bubbling up. In part b/c the second Rat dropped in after the offer had closed, which stimulated further conversation. And also just because, red bubbles!
I still donât know if I regret having missed out on this one. Next time, perhaps.
