Do we need to find our own local casemates?
7I see several threads looking for casemates in various cities. It wasn’t clear how that was going to work (or maybe it was made clear somewhere on this website and I just can’t find it ). Possibly you are just looking to meet local wineauxs for some shared imbibing.
Can someone, maybe @Winedavid49 please let us know if we need to find our own local casemates to split orders? And if somebody can also tell me how to add the @fill-in-name so WD will see my question that would be great as well.

Okay so I figured out the last part.
We will be building tools to help but they will be a work in progress as the community grows.
We’re excited about the social gathering fun of the model. Tools are just tools and humans not tech are the ones who are ultimately going to make this work or not. We definitely are encouraged by the use of the basic forum utility to get started. This is the actual work on display now - tools will just assist!
One more thing: there will definitely be some discount gained by going to full case lots but we actually see the joining together and meeting as a bonus itself. If you can’t find Casemates, we’re not going to punish you further with an exorbitant price delta on smaller lots.
Warning, it’s Novella length. Get a cup of coffee (or glass of wine, either is fine).
I admit that it’s unlikely that I will ever buy a case at a time, and am happy to hear that you won’t punish me for wanting only 3 or 4 bottles (at best). You may be surprised to hear that I’ve had a recent addition of, oh, more than 100 bottles of wine, but I would still be happy to see a few that I’d been hoping to see those last few weeks over on wine dot woot.
I live in the middle of wine country already, and will continue to augment my collection with local offerings (to no one’s surprise). The best thing (for me) about all this is that I get to have other wines that I like that are often unavailable to me otherwise (unless I order directly from the winery, which I’ve done on occasion). It will also be wonderful to be introduced to other wines that I would not encounter, otherwise.
I’ll reduce my cellar in the next while by giving some as gifts (including donations for a couple of silent auctions), and by drinking it (it’s a sacrifice, but I’m tough, and I’m willing to do it). The only wine delivery still extant from wine dot woot are the bottles of Victory (plus nightgowns, aka 3X shirts), from the last day, and then there’s the mysterious possibilities from the Remote Launch Party…
I actually hope that the first offering is something sparkling, so that I may admire from a distance, and not partake (it doesn’t agree with me). It’s been a fun ride, so far, and I’ve managed to not get thrown, as of yet, even riding side-saddle (once, only, IRL, and it’s harder than it looks).
Off to the day. Looking forward to Midnight, EST. I predict the site being a bit slow. :-}
i think the possibilities are really endless. Some folks will have an existing group of like minded wine lovers, at work or around the neighborhood, who will naturally join forces to enjoy some legitimate savings.
We also see (and are seeing it here already, yay!) organic growth on the boards of people in proximity to each other who will get to know each other and buy together.
exciting times!
@Winedavid49 Great work WD!!
@Winedavid49 @snapster
Still looking for any information if there will be anything to help match up local casemates for splits. I started a thread for locals (Gainesville FL) at the beginning of the community, but all I got was crickets
@pseudogourmet98 trying to be blunter than earlier in this thread: we prioritized on getting basics of site launched first. Help finding Casemates and splitting payments will be sparse at first. We will develop tools live while simultaneously operating with events.
Keep in mind that folks may have privacy or travel or other reasons for not having the site disclose their locale to the public. Or maybe they have more than one locale.
While you may be interested in knowing who else is in your area, they may not want you to know or care that you’re asking.
@mike808 Then what good are they?
@pseudogourmet98 Not everyone here is interested in being a casemate. At least on day one.
