Philly-area imbibers?
5I’m not accustomed to getting wine deliveries since PA was so backwards on that front for so long. And since Woot never updated their state shipping policies, I’m very much looking forward to this experience.
That said, I’m more interested in small sets and splits. Who else from Philadelphia area and surroundings is around?

Waves Hey! I’m in center city. I ordered a lot from Woot when I lived in TX and was horrified when I moved up here and couldn’t anymore. I used a wine club to make up for it, since those could ship here, but it wasn’t the same (and their variety sucked). So very much looking forward to this!
Maaaaybe. I don’t drink much but I may be tempted.
I’m in Brewerytown! Also used to order from wine.woot when I lived in CA and IA. I’d be interested in occasionally going in on a case when the price is right and the vino is worth it…
Taste preferences? I like sweet wines (especially the ice wines, they taste like I imagine a magic potion would), not too acidic whites, and reds that aren’t heavy on the tannins. I also know like, JUST enough about wine to know the basic terms, and not much past that. I drink mostly white wines. Oh, and I have limited storage space, but I live in a building that accepts alcohol packages for us, so I don’t mind being point person on stuff as long as we coordinate pickup in a reasonable time (I don’t drive).
@Jamileigh17 Low acidic reds for me. Malbec has been my go-to for a little while now. But Cabs, and Shiraz work too. Keep your Merlot away though.
I’m about 2 - 3 hours from Philly and just outside Shippensburg. It’s been pretty crazy watching all the grocery stores going through remodel now that they can sell alcohol.
But definitely looking forward to ordering online. I can’t drive either…
Just wanted to say hi to all my neighboring mehricians. I’m not a wine drinker, I prefer beer and live in Phoenixville which ranks 10th in the US for most breweries per 50K residents.
@callow you must love Root Down!
@cindyahern I was there for the first time on Sunday for the Punk Rock Flea Market. Great atmosphere!
Hey all. I’m up in the Lehigh Valley area, but work in the Blue Bell area. Very excited to see what kind of deals come through here. I order mostly from WTSO and LastBottle, but definitely pumped to have another resource as well! Anyone else in the northern burbs?
I’m in the burbs out in Chester County, but am in the city every single day. I’m down for some splitting action!
@nickiwhite Im in West Chester and would be interested in splitting as well.
@cindyahern We’ll have to coordinate in the future when a good one comes up. Let me know!
@nickiwhite sounds great!
Anyone want to grab a case of the Esoterica by Kent Rasmussen? I could go in for 4-6 depending on the interest level. We could meet up at Plymouth Meeting Mall or similar place to distribute the goods.
@fonesj1983 I’m not jumping on this one, but keep me in mind for future interests – I’m about 15 minutes from Plymouth Meeting.
@ACraigL Sounds good. What kind of stuff are you usually into?
@fonesj1983 Pretty partial to Malbec at the moment. But I’m totally open to try whatever. Low-acidity usually works best for me.
@fonesj1983 I could go in for 2-4 bottles, so maybe if there’s one more person interested? I’m closer to Center City, but could drive out to Plymouth Meeting or stop there on my way home from work. Let me know!
@liquidbluenight I’m in Center City! Maybe we can coordinate on swaps later if you’re grabbing stuff from the 'burbs and coming into the city or vice versa.
@Jamileigh17 Sure thing!
@liquidbluenight I work in the city too! I think we’ve got some drinking to do!
Im in West Chester and would be interested in splitting as well.
Anyone interested in the St. Amant wines that just went up? I’m most interested in the Mohr-Fry Zin and less interested in the blend and the Barbera…
Anyone still around? I recently moved back after too many years in DC and would be interested in future splitsies.
@murftastic we are going to give this idea a little nudge. Stay tuned!
@Winedavid49 You’re too sweet–I love this community!
It seems I’ve been nudged! @murftastic, I am in South Philly. My girlfriend and I order a case here or there occasionally, but we’re very much novices as far as tasting goes. Feel free to send a whisper to connect!
@nayten @murftastic nice!
@murftastic @nayten @Winedavid49 I also have been nudged, haven’t made a trip up to Philly lately (and a bit out of my normal loop range for my va/dc folk trips) but if someone closer to Harrisburg or Delaware speaks up that could be a good portion of a Cannonball Wine Run in the future… and I would participate.
@bunnymasseuse @nayten @Winedavid49 Nice to virtually meet! I am in Fishtown, but I have a sister near South Philly, and my mother lives close to Wilmington.
@murftastic @nayten @Winedavid49 I’m in Baltimore but I could be swayed under the right conditions for a long distance wine xchange.
Hey! Still here, still in center city, still open to potential splitting. Welcome back!
@Jamileigh17 thanks for chiming in! let me know if you have requests for wine offers in the future.
Fellow Gritizens! I’m in the Fairmount/Brewerytown area. I typically buy less than a case, but would be open to splitting case(s) and/or local tastings (if that’s a thing again?).
@liquidbluenight I’ll support a local tasting by sending goodies. Just give me some notice!
A Philly area tasting?! I might have to leave the safe confines of CNJ for that. Not far at all, really.
@hscottk agree I’ll cross a border or two with some heads notice. I have a 12 bottle rolling case, if I can train there even better…
