Tasting Panel?
1So I got home late last night to a FedEx ticket on the door directing me to pick up a missed delivery at a nearby Walgreens (I know, WTF right?) and, not having ordered any wine recently I was (understandably?) confused. My confusion only served to grow when I got home today, my Father having graciously collected the parcel for me, to discover a single bottle of wine had been shipped to me by WCC. Should I assume that this is related to the ‘Special Tasting Panel’ cited on my Kickstarter pledge? If so, what sort of procedure is there surrounding this mystery bottle?

Labrat’s the word you’re looking for. It seems as though the email letting you know this was on the way was lacking. Was there a “golden ticket” as part of the package?
Is this a bottle of the current offering?
I should add that I have almost zero experience in doing this, although I do appreciate the effort of others who do so. I don’t know that there’s an explanation out there of how to do this, honestly. Perhaps some of the more experienced folk such as @MarkDaSpark or @ChipGreen might step in and help (sorry, fellows, but you were the first two names that I could remember).
@Shrdlu so… what is the Tasting Panel then?
@jbartus @Shrdlu IIRC, Casemates did make mention of getting to be part of the “tasting panel” with a $100 or more Kickstarter donation. I guess that is what they are calling the list that they pull names from to send “lab rat” bottles.
@chipgreen @Shrdlu that is what I was referring to, yes.
Hi @jbartus - you got a Lab Rat Report bottle. There is likely an email about that bottle, hidden in a spam folder somewhere.
Please, try the wine. Then post your tasting notes, thoughts, (and whatever else strikes your fancy,) in that wine’s product discussion.
@Thumperchick so I ended up finding the email in a most circuitous manner after you posted. It didn’t hit my normal Meh/Mediocre/etc. filter as it ended up going my kickstarter email address.
Now I just have to find someone who drinks this particular type of wine before the sell date to help me do a report as it’s not of a variety I personally appreciate. Thanks for the help, having the subject line to search for was most useful in locating the email!
@jbartus, here’s an example for the current offer:

@Shrdlu noted, thanks!
Mostly try to be honest. That works best. If some wine isn’t to your taste, say why. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. Some like buttery, oaky Chards (aka gnawing on furniture) and some despise them.
I use an app on my tablet called Wine Notes to help me compare wines. It lets me see what I like.
Basically, you taste it right after you open it (aka Pop 'n Pour), but also try to taste it over 1 hour or more. Last labrat bottle didn’t really shine until the 3rd day. Some just need a lot of time to open.
Taste it with different foods and by itself. Some wines are better without food, and some are better with food.
Good luck!
