@salcorn I’m a fan of aged reds—a lot of my cellar is thirty or more years old. So I was pleased to see this is a 2011 Merlot My first impression is that it’s really an Old World style Bordeaux, Saint-Estèphe comes to mind.
@salpo offers up some Lab Rat Report thoughts on the Cabernet I was expecting more from this wine. More minerality, being in a volcanic soil. More complexity – but I’d make sure that it has ample time to sit and breathe before being served.
@winesmith Good morning, everyone. It’s a real treat to be able to offer these two solid citizens with 8 and 9 years behind them. I started making the Diamond Ridge Vineyards wines in 2007 and these are among the best examples.
@rpm provides exhaustive and rigorous as usual Lab Rat notes on the CS Important Notes and Caveat: Based on the bottle we tasted, rpm is not comfortable making any assessment of the age-worthiness of this wine and, for the reasons discussed above, believes we received an uncharacteristically “off” bottle.
