We need a better solution ASAP
4How is everyone communicating with your new Casemates friends. Emails are not encouraged to be posted on here. We have no pm system.
I know it is said this is being worked on. But the key part of “Case mates” is the ability to share wine with people (new or existing friends). The lack of ability to communicate info without privacy is very frustrating.

I risked it and shared my email. It hasn’t been a great system.
I’ve found or made other outside options. Woot pm, Facebook, and twitter.
Another thing that would be good in all the forums is a way to either follow and unfollow a thread or to bookmark them. They get lost here much worse than on meh.
@Cerridwyn You can subscribe to each thread. There’s a little envelope at the bottom of the initial post…click it to subscribe and you should get an email notification of new posts.

I wrote a barebones message sending with forced ID numbers for account verification dealy to avoid real work, hosted it, then (while testing) realized if people wanted a third party solution discord was better anyway.
Guess we’re waiting.

I encouraged my fellow NE Ohioans to post interest in the NE OH Casemates thread under “Gatherings” using the @username to ping our “roster” of locals. Definitely not ideal but better than cluttering up the product threads with dozens of posts from around the country looking for people to share with, when the point of the product thread is to discuss the wine being offered. No interest in trolling the boards trying to get others to do the same but at least we are not adding to the clutter.
However, that also bastardizes the point of a “Gatherings” category as that was supposed to be for arranging wine drinking events, as the name implies. Admittedly, those events are often good venues to swap wines so there is some overlap but I still feel that it is not being used properly.
As mentioned in the OP, we are going to have to exchange personal information at some point in order to distribute these shared purchases so hopefully the actual Casemates concept that the website was created around will achieve functionality sooner than later in order to alleviate these and other issues.
@chipgreen until Casemates gets their PM feature up and running (which they have told me is in the works) about the only option I have found/used is going back to Woot’s PMs. That has helped me connect with a few who are interested in case shares.
