@rjquillin We are happy for you. But after WineDavid’s a) promise that there would be no duplications, b) a number of us did get duplicates, c) wineDavid’s promise to take corrective action, and then d) WineDavid’s lack of follow-through, I trust that you can appreciate the fact that some of us remain less than impressed with that fiasco.
I’m in for 2, even though I’m still unhappy with the last mystery magnum offer. Maybe they’ll make it right this time. The offer says no duplicates, contrary to the last offer in which I got duplicates.
I was very happy with the wines we received last time, minus the leaking Wellington Syrah. Debating on 2 sets of 2 again. I’m a sucker for a mystery offer…
I missed out on the last one, but saw some pretty neat wines posted when people received them. So I’m in for this one. Hopefully if I do get duplicates, it’ll be something I like!
/giphy radiant-baled-debt
Was very happy with the last Mystery Magnum selections I received. Brought one to a party and we had a…Schug Night.
The higher-point-rated one was actually my least favorite of the four bottles we got (and it was still good!). A fun way to find new wines I might not otherwise buy.
@CraigDanger - Had to do a double take on your photo. I know Schug and their labels. But the “S” was conspicuously light so all I saw was “CHUG” on the mag and laughed a little on the inside until everything clicked in.
@chipgreen Thanks! I’m really just getting back into my wine buying/enjoying swing. Was sick with the big C for a few years but feeling more like myself than I have for some time. Excited to work the palate with a newfound appreciation for life.
Forgot to look and see if MEH was selling boba straws on the same day.
In for two Magnums. I fared quite well last time, and have high confidence I will be rewarded for my loyalty again! Either way, I cant say no to mysterious BBWs!
/giphy emerald-unimportant-market
I had to place my order before posting when I saw “2 bottles sold out” then “they are back”. I love the large bottle format and the mystery part makes it more fun.
Can’t wait to see what people got.
If I had known this was coming up, I would have re-upped membership yesterday and bought the Keenan myself. Thankfully my peeps had me covered on that front. In for 2 mags. If you want to combine the 2 mystery 750s into a 3rd mag, that would be fine with me.
@CorTot Good question. Today is the last day to buy from them. They are going to have a lot of wine leftover. Might be some more “mystery cases” in the future.
@CorTot@Springbank There was enough stuff there that I could have made another case, but nothing was compelling enough to risk the wrath of actually doing it!
The other is a bit harder to know what to think. The mags are 2019 Turnbull Cab Sauv and 2018 Skyenna Dos Germanos. The 750mls are Gard 2019 Cab Sauv and Camino de Sonoma Highway 12 2021. Would love any knowledge about these.
I think it would be great if the restrictions on number of cases would ease when there is one hour left. I would gladly buy 2 more sets of 2 but can’t because I’m at the limit.
@winedavid49 I got notification that these are shipping out for delivery in Napa tomorrow. Any way they can be delayed till later in the week? Napa shows 100 degree weather for the next couple of days
I received the same two mags. For 750s, got an Urgency 2019 Pinot Noir and an Anderson Hill 2018 Lenswood Shiraz. Hopefully they’re not cooked being delivered on the hottest day of the year so far.
@dmers
Received the same two magnums as well. Pretty happy. And got Gard Cabernet 2019 for one of my 750’s which is a bonus. Other 750 is the vino violeta Malbec. That one sounds interesting
No notification of them being shipped to me. Scary if they were since I usually have deliveries redirected and it’s hot here. Looks like the J. Dusi’s were shipped, maybe with summer shipping.
@jmdavidson1 Interestingly, mine came today but was the first occasion, i believe, that i didn’t get an ‘On their way’ advance email. We live bay area, so not sure if that’s any kind of factor
@klezman thanks!! I don’t know what you mean by white label- was that a special run?
I kinda figured on the 750s with the price point I saw online but I am fine with that- plenty of opportunities to drink a “party wine” this summer.
@jcpseattle
Scott’s “Reserve” wines have a white label on the bottle, as opposed to the standard wines having a red label. In most cases the reserve wines are higher quality and are more expensive, but there are some people who prefer the red label. Bottom line: all of Scott’s wines are great.
@Allieroon we had very similar wines! Thanks for the pricing out, that’s helpful. I went into cellartracker and didn’t get a good sense of a good drinking window for any of these, but I imagine the mags will cellar well.
@jcpseattle Yeah, I didn’t find much info on drinking windows either, but I’m sure the size rule stands for each of these mags (larger the format, longer the window). Overall I am pleased with the selection I received. Looooove anything Onesta! Urgency Pinot will go to my Pinot loving daughter. Though I’ve gotten burned in the past, I love me some mystery!
90s here in Denver this week and I just received an email from UPS the delivery is delayed due to a tractor/trailer issue… I hope the wine isn’t cooked!!
@knlprez I had a shipment coming from New York and the came thing happened. Supposed to be coming today but if it’s not early enough nobody will be home.
@klezman mine is getting redirected to a local UPS access point. They usually deliver there in the morning so less chance of it cooking in a truck all afternoon… We will see what happens!
I did not get an email delay but mine is supposed to be delivered tomorrow and they checked it back in to the Hodgkins, IL hub an hour after they supposedly shipped it out. UPS must hate me as much as I hate them.
@klezman Thanks for the input. Ped=zin. Cheap. My 2 cents. At least one bottle out of 4 should be good quality. Some get crap, some do really well and some do so so.
@jmdavidson1 I got the same! I’m actually happy, I figure I’ll only crack the magnums open when I have a group to share with, and both bottles seem like they’ll be non controversial. Was I hoping for some Zeppelin? Yes but I’ll keep trying. I also got a nice 750 ml bottle of cab franc
@jmdavidson1 agreed.
At least you know the Ped will improve significantly with age, if you decide to let it hang around that long. But I’d also be underwhelmed with that mag.
@jmdavidson1, @winedavid49 I found this post: Come to Clos LaChance this Sunday 11/19 for an amazing performance by P.S. Acoustic. Sunday Funday is still in full swing!
.
While you’re here, you can take full advantage of our sale on 2021 Reserve Meritage and 2021 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon MAGNUMS! Just $40/bottle or 50% off the retail price! The perfect wine to pair with your Thanksgiving meal. So, our $80 bottles were at one time sold by LaChance for $40. SO much for us getting at least one bottle of $80 value.
Or course the delivery gets moved in from expected this time… Because I’m gonna be out of town. So, I get to pay to reschedule it or let it roll 3x their non-temp controlled trucks.
Maybe God’s are smiling on me. Forgot I signed up for a weekly family gathering tomorrow and the men in Brown say my shipment is on the truck for delivery today.
Like what I’m seeing so far. A mag of Cinsault would be great. I’ve turned my wife & kids into fiends. Never should have started them out on the best - Onesta.
I’ll post score tomorrow…assuming they don’t cancel today’s delivery
@marjoryk Brutocao 2016 cabernet sauvignon Hopland ranches is the mag. And Enzobocrietti barbera d’alba. And the friends wine, the Solas pilot noir and @sauv. Blanc came too
@marjoryk If you’re on mobile you need to flip to landscape mode. Then click the little photo icon at the bottom of the text entry box and follow the instructions. You’ll also see it on desktop. It’s 6th from the left.
Yeah not happy, received another $7 bottle of the Desert Wind Rua… already have a case. It is decent but come on? As well a the Clos LaChance? This of course after getting 7 bad bottles of Clark’s Roman Reserve. (Two Jakes) Man I miss Peter. Buy all the Wellington!!
Arrived today.
Magnums are the Rocca 2013 Cab Sav and Carucci 2018 Syrah.
The 750’s are Highway 12 2021 Merlot and Red Electric 2019 Oregon Pinot Noir.
I am not familiar with either of the 2 magnums. Mag #1 Lions Ridge Barrel Select Red Blend Central Coast. Can’t even find anything about the varietals. Mag #2 Terlato & Chapoutier 2018 Australian Syraz Malarkof Vineyard. Happy becuase both will be a new experience and I cant find the Syraz within a 100 miles of either of my residences.
750’s were Tin Barn Merlot and Parker Sangiovese listed as a “Super Tuscan”
Writing it out because whenever I drag and drop a phot it usually doesn’t come through.
My daughter had her wine shipped to my house. She asked me to open it for her and I happily obliged!
Magnums are Raymond 2005 Napa Cab Sav and the 2013 Rocca many of us got.
The 750’s were the Gard and the Red Electric Oregon Pinot Noir. She did good!
@knlprez It did not present taste wise as it should have, it was “drinkable” but the leakage (and what leaking does to the overall taste and to the wine itself with air…) did it’s damage. You could risk it and cellar it and be disappointed later, or attempt to drink it now vs delayed sadness.
Really starting to dislike UPS. My last order arrived repacked with one bottle missing and now both of “cases” that were expected yesterday have a status today of “The delivery date will be provided as soon as possible.”
@ctmariner Thanks for that. It’s a company I never heard of not that that is surprising given my lack of knowledge. I should mention that that’s one of my 1.5L bottles!
@fgfljsb@Mark_L i think a lot of these bottles may be coming out of underground cellars bankruptcy based on some of the labels. Could be wrong but ive also seen the speculation elsewhere.
@Winedavid49
Perhaps a rush to judgment on my part, based on my unfamiliarity with and the high percentage of Rocca mags in the mix. Definitely less disappointed in that one than the other mag.
@klezman@Winedavid49
I should have said “less underwhelmed” instead of “less disappointed” as I was not disappointed at all, given the price point. But I was hoping to get excited about one of the mags.
Again maybe a rush to judgment with the Italian Cab Franc blend, based on unfamiliarity and the glass bottle itself, which seems to be lower quality than that of most magnums. Shallow punt, etc. It has the appearance of an inexpensive bottling.
@klezman@Winedavid49
After some additional thought, I regret my previous sour grapes. My hopes were much higher than my expectations, which led to my “underwhelmed” comment. I was hoping for a Unicorn but should have been happy with a horse!

Went in on a 2 pack.
Hoping for no dups.
Last time around, with the SH iirc, two identical offers.
@rjquillin WineDavid said he was going to make it right during the last offer. I got nothing. You?
@jmdavidson1 @rjquillin I also got no recompense, and no follow-up from CM either.
@jmdavidson1 @Zortapa
Oh, I was quite happy with the selections, just would have appreciated more variety.

@CraigDanger @winejosh Chinese counterfeit
@winejosh CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG
@winejosh
CHUG, the perfect wine for a guy who likes to drink right from the bottle!
Nice to see you’re still around.
@winejosh
Ugh, sorry you have had to go through that but very happy for you to be feeling more like yourself now. Cheers!
In for two magnums! I’m getting married in a month and these will be fun to share
@CruelMelody Congratulations!
Really enjoyed the last ones.

Gah, I’m out of the country until the 17th, but still thinking about risking a pair. Hopefully it’ll sell out and make my decision for me.

@davirom the CHEER15 one or the buyupwine one?
@toddlamp Thanks, order in.

@bunnymasseuse hit me with your best BBW! Wine bat potential?!?
Placed an order for two, THEN noted the delivery date. I’ll be out of the country . Sadly just cancelled.
@rxcarter have it sent to a friend or a FedEx/UPS location?
How much more are you saving by buying 2+2?
(Note: tax and shipping are not included in savings calculations).
Mystery Magnum MAYhem - $10 = 9.08%
Alrighty let’s do this again. Got a Schug 09 merlot and a Zeppelin magnum farce last time!

All the 2 packs are sold out. Any chance we’ll see more or just order 2 single?
I just ordered the two singles, since the two packs were no more.
Just checked in and the 2-pak is sold out? Any chance of reviving the 2-pak?

Any chance the two packs coming back?
@vin314 They’re back

I had to place my order before posting when I saw “2 bottles sold out” then “they are back”. I love the large bottle format and the mystery part makes it more fun.

Will be bringing these to the house boat vacation on Shasta we have planned this summer!
Want to throw my hat in but really shouldn’t! Hopefully all the Wellington was sent out last time!

I did OK on the last mystery magnums. Love a Suprise!
/giphy grizzly-jolliest-dirt
Could this be a bunch of large format bottles from the UC bankruptcy liquidation?
@CorTot Good question. Today is the last day to buy from them. They are going to have a lot of wine leftover. Might be some more “mystery cases” in the future.
@CorTot @Springbank There was enough stuff there that I could have made another case, but nothing was compelling enough to risk the wrath of actually doing it!
I’m still traumatized from the “Imported Wines Mystery Offer” but will give it one more chance. Others seem to have had good success. Fingers crossed.
Got some stuff that would normally be out of my price range last time, going to go in for 2 sets of 2, and try to make some presents out of them.
OK, here we go.
The first box is exactly the same as what @jcpseattle got in https://casemates.com/forum/topics/mystery-magnum-mayhem#6660d3fb5e885a792bf97db3.

Musta been a
mega-mystery-magnum-mayhem
since it’s not yet sold out.
@rjquillin many many wineries have 20 to 100 magnum, that age very well, that they would like to sell.
A win win win.
@winedavid49 I got notification that these are shipping out for delivery in Napa tomorrow. Any way they can be delayed till later in the week? Napa shows 100 degree weather for the next couple of days
Arrived today for me. How’d I do?
Clos la Chance- 2021 meritage reserve
Rocca - 2013 cab Sauvignon
@jammythompson02 Which is the mag?
@davirom @jammythompson02 Seems like at $33.33 for the mags and $16.67 for the 740s that’s a solid deal.
I received the same two mags. For 750s, got an Urgency 2019 Pinot Noir and an Anderson Hill 2018 Lenswood Shiraz. Hopefully they’re not cooked being delivered on the hottest day of the year so far.
@dmers
Received the same two magnums as well. Pretty happy. And got Gard Cabernet 2019 for one of my 750’s which is a bonus. Other 750 is the vino violeta Malbec. That one sounds interesting
Those were the two mags. For 750ml, received Powder Keg Sirah and Watp & Weet Blend
I haven’t seen any notice from Casemates, and the account shows it as “Processing.” UPS says it left Petaluma on Monday night and will be here Friday.
Mine just showed up today as well. No notice.
I got the two pack. I’d love insights on what I got- I know there are some opinions out there, especially about the Scott Harvey.
Mags:
750s:
Cult - Lodi, Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Urgency- California Pinot Noir 2019
I like cabs so getting two is fine with me!
@jcpseattle
Scott white label Syrah? Score!
10 year old Cabernet? Score!
The 750s are party wines.
@klezman thanks!! I don’t know what you mean by white label- was that a special run?
I kinda figured on the 750s with the price point I saw online but I am fine with that- plenty of opportunities to drink a “party wine” this summer.
@jcpseattle
Scott’s “Reserve” wines have a white label on the bottle, as opposed to the standard wines having a red label. In most cases the reserve wines are higher quality and are more expensive, but there are some people who prefer the red label. Bottom line: all of Scott’s wines are great.
@jcpseattle Are you me? One of my orders was exactly this. The same two seemingly nice magnums, and the same 2 easy drinkers 750mls.
Magnums
Rocca 2013 Cab
Clos La Chance 2018 Meritage
Pedroncelli 2021 Zinfandel
Scott Harvey 209 Syrah (leaked through cork)
750’s
Warp +Weft 2017 Shweshwe red blend
Shannon Ridge 2020 Red Blend
Schug 2019 Pinot Noir
Davey & Browne 2017 Cab
@Wilbur444 i nearly got exactly the same. Just one of the mags different!
@davirom my haul was very similar, just a different J Dusi bottle
Yup, just appeared, no notice and still ‘processing’
Nice, no dupes
@rjquillin solid selection
Hate the new Pedroncelli label though
@klezman strong verb;
I really did much prefer the classic labels, but I think I understand the marketing of the new ones.
@rjquillin shrug. It’s up to them and I’m not going to buy or not buy because of it.
Just showed up an hour ago…
Mags:
Scott Harvey J&S Reserve Syrah 2019
Rocca Family Vineyards Collinetta Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
750s:
Onesta, Cinsault 2019
Urgency- California Pinot Noir 2019
@Allieroon we had very similar wines! Thanks for the pricing out, that’s helpful. I went into cellartracker and didn’t get a good sense of a good drinking window for any of these, but I imagine the mags will cellar well.

idk where my photo went. here it is again.
For anyone who knows anything about wine, how did I do?
Not sure if anyone is interested in adding to this list, but would be fun/convenient to have a complete list of offerings and price points (FOW).
Mags:
Scott Harvey J&S Reserve Syrah 2019 (Retail $109)
Rocca Family Vineyards Collinetta Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 (Retail $129)
750s:
Onesta, Cinsault 2019 (Retail $40)
Urgency- California Pinot Noir 2019 (Retail $14)
90s here in Denver this week and I just received an email from UPS the delivery is delayed due to a tractor/trailer issue… I hope the wine isn’t cooked!!

I did not get an email delay but mine is supposed to be delivered tomorrow and they checked it back in to the Hodgkins, IL hub an hour after they supposedly shipped it out. UPS must hate me as much as I hate them.
Hoping for Scott Harvey or Beau Vigne. This’ll be my last crap shoot at mystery bottles. Last time I got duplicates for the four mag’s.
@jmdavidson1 FWIW, Clos la Chance is supposed to have good quality stuff. You know what you’re getting with Pedroncelli, at least.
@jmdavidson1 agreed.
/giphy UPS-sucks
<sigh>
Or course the delivery gets moved in from expected this time… Because I’m gonna be out of town. So, I get to pay to reschedule it or let it roll 3x their non-temp controlled trucks.
@cocacola08 20/year to be a member. Worth it if you buy more than 1 case a year here.
@CruelMelody, ya I went ahead and got the annual, and rescheduled, before I jumped on the flight out of town.
Got mine in. Pleasantly surprised with the gard bottle!
@a5meiser I love Gard! Great haul!
So the mags are pretty much a toss up between 6 producers?
Maybe God’s are smiling on me. Forgot I signed up for a weekly family gathering tomorrow and the men in Brown say my shipment is on the truck for delivery today.
Like what I’m seeing so far. A mag of Cinsault would be great. I’ve turned my wife & kids into fiends. Never should have started them out on the best - Onesta.
I’ll post score tomorrow…assuming they don’t cancel today’s delivery
@forlich Ooof…not to ruin your day, but I don’t believe Onesta sells mags (at least I’ve never seen one offered). You’ll be lucky to get a 750.
Ups came today. Used a dolly lol
@marjoryk Brutocao 2016 cabernet sauvignon Hopland ranches is the mag. And Enzobocrietti barbera d’alba. And the friends wine, the Solas pilot noir and @sauv. Blanc came too

@marjoryk I got that one as well!
@marjoryk
To be fair, the bottle you’ve linked to is a jeroboam/double magnum (3L), not a magnum (1.5L) at $200 retail.

750’s were Tin Barn Merlot and Parker Sangiovese listed as a “Super Tuscan”
Writing it out because whenever I drag and drop a phot it usually doesn’t come through.
@forlich I got the same combo, except instead of the Terlato, I got a Mag. of 2019 Turnbull Cab…one of my favorites, so I’m a happy camper.

Scott Harvey J&S Reserve Syrah 2019
Rocca Family Vineyards Collinetta Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Urgency- California Pinot Noir 2019
Sadly, the SH was severely compromised on delivery, so much that I had to decant it and hope for the best
@bunnymasseuse
@bunnymasseuse Looks like you should get a replacement or partial refund. Leaky bottles are no good!
@bunnymasseuse I also received a magnum of 2019 SH white label Syrah, and it too was leaking
@knlprez it was very sad, if you can open and make the best of it I suggest you do
@bunnymasseuse

Skyenna Dos Germanos Reserve RedWine Blend 2018 Santa Barbara Cnty
750:
Highway 12 Priv Resrv Camino De Sonoma Red Wine 2021
Gard CabSauv 2019 Lawrence Estate Wine Royal Slope
@bunnymasseuse
@bunnymasseuse how was yours? Normally I would have stashed it in our off-site storage locker for some years and let it age… Really too bad.
@knlprez It did not present taste wise as it should have, it was “drinkable” but the leakage (and what leaking does to the overall taste and to the wine itself with air…) did it’s damage. You could risk it and cellar it and be disappointed later, or attempt to drink it now vs delayed sadness.
@klezman for those curious I did end up reaching out to support to be made “whole”. TYVM!
Mag: 2016 Brutocao Cab
750: 2021 Enzo Boglietti Barbera D’Alba
Lots of good selections here! Alongside the expected many instances of pedestrian stuff.
Really excited for the Hawk and Horse! Thanks @Winedavid49!!!

Really starting to dislike UPS. My last order arrived repacked with one bottle missing and now both of “cases” that were expected yesterday have a status today of “The delivery date will be provided as soon as possible.”
My haul, quite pleased. Love the E11even P.S.
@pseudogourmet98 I got same Magnums & the Davey & Browne…Any idea how we did?
@dawnlac @pseudogourmet98 2016 Bordeaux is supposed to be really good. Never heard of the other.
I know I like Scott Harvey wines but the others I have no clue about
@toddlamp The Honig Cab is a nice bottle of wine (c. $50 retail)
@ctmariner Thanks for that. It’s a company I never heard of not that that is surprising given my lack of knowledge. I should mention that that’s one of my 1.5L bottles!
@toddlamp Even better - so its a $100+ bottle of wine!
@ctmariner Oh, nice, even better!
I know NOTHING about either of these. Does anyone else? I dont remember the 750 being up for sale, its a Barolo so I think i wouldve…
@fgfljsb Notes from the offering of the 2017 Brutocao cab.
@fgfljsb @Mark_L i think a lot of these bottles may be coming out of underground cellars bankruptcy based on some of the labels. Could be wrong but ive also seen the speculation elsewhere.
Score on the Kukeri but underwhelmed by the mags. Feels like they were the throw-ins instead of the 750s.
@chipgreen 2013 napa cab?
@Winedavid49
Perhaps a rush to judgment on my part, based on my unfamiliarity with and the high percentage of Rocca mags in the mix. Definitely less disappointed in that one than the other mag.
@chipgreen @Winedavid49 and 13 year old Tuscan Cabernet franc? Not too shabby IMO.
@klezman @Winedavid49
@klezman @Winedavid49
After some additional thought, I regret my previous sour grapes. My hopes were much higher than my expectations, which led to my “underwhelmed” comment. I was hoping for a Unicorn but should have been happy with a horse!
